Ideas to fight hackers.

Well, now that we have NPC support with the recent zombie mode, I thought of some ideas that could use them to combat hackers.

1. Place NPC's that look identical to a normal player in impossible to shoot areas, if they're shot kick the person who shoots them - Combats wall hackers.

2. Add invisible models with no hit boxes and make no sound that run around the map following the paths the players took in the last 3 rounds(24 invisible ghosts). - combats chammers by making it almost impossible to tell if they're hitting a real player or not.

Thoughts?

  • that is actually really cool but itd be really complex or well in their case time consuming but i think its a good way. but soon hackers will find a way to make it dissapear know wat i mean

The solution to fight wall hackers should be able to work no matter what, since it'd technically be just like a real player(could use random names aswell) that causes a kick if hit.

The one to fight chams I think should always work if done correctly, or atleast I hope. I'm not a programmer so I don't know if there would be a way to bypass this.

*edit* and the wallhacker solution wouldn't actually be that complex as far as I can tell. and having ghosts that travel the path that someone already took would likely be a bit harder. although games have been doing it for years so I doubt it's that much harder, should be cheaper on the server then invisible NPCs running randomly around, and hopefully easier.
  • I for one think this is an awesome idea! +1 LETS GET THIS NOTICED EVERYONE

This I can work with! :D

Thanks, and the best part is it should have no effect on the legit players, and fight those awful chammers.
  • ...So would they be through walls and such?

Also, would they show up on the radar?

How could they be coded into the game and not crash it or something similar?

Would the hackers kill of the Npc show up on the replay, or in game itself?

Wouldn't this become redundant to the hackers who are slightly more discreet in what they shoot?

Over time wouldn't hackers and the like become accustomed to seeing these npc's and learn where not to shoot?

For the invisible ghost like things, what if someone sprays down an area in ghost mode, would they be banned for spraying, seriously?

Up until the answers for these questions, I'll be against it because it seems like a waste of resources and energy.

    1. Yes, they'd be in areas which are only possible to shoot at with wall hacks. Behind walls etc. in bullet proof boxes behind walls if at all needed.

    2. They would not show up on radar.

    3. shouldn't cause much at all a strain on the server for the wall hack detection. The ghost solution which is intended to confuse chammers shouldn't be very resource heavy(hopefully) but if need be they could be cut down from 24 to 8. Which without their hitbox/sound/etc. should be fairly cheap on resources(or so I hope).

    4. they wouldn't be killable, they'd be invincible and if shot they're instantly kicked, but it'd likely show up in the replay of him shooting and then getting kicked(could even display "Kicked for hacking") when they're kicked.

    5. If the first solution does not work, then the method of confusing the hackers with the ghost images would help deter people from hacking/making hacking more of a penalty then a benefit.

    6. This is why we'd use the actual movement from players within the lobby to simulate real movement, always changing so the hackers could never become accustomed to it. For the non-moving NPCs it'd be more a solution to fight against the aimbot+wall hack, sadly I doubt it'd work against wall hackers who don't use a aimbot.

    7. No they wouldn't be banned for spraying, hell you could even make it so the ghosts appear in the replays, if anything it would help make finding hackers easier. Remember the invisible ghosts do not kick you if they're hit, they're just for confusion purposes.

    8. I'm glad that you ask these questions, and I'm happy to answer them, hopefully this has cleared up your opinion of this idea.

wayyyy to just take that from Combat Arms.
  • I see makes a lot more sense to me now, so this is a deterent against wallers and aimbots because they see/aim at these things, it would work against them for sure.

The fact that they don't die is vital though , the ghosts I mean, the other ones should die and respawn.

Let's hope that this is plausible to implement.

I don't play combat arms, so I wouldn't know if they use this method or not.
  • Or maybe the creators can make a weekly update just on hacks.
Can't believe its monthly its bull****!

Glad I could help clear everything up for you.

Posting something like that isn't helping anyone. a weekly update on just hacks would be a pretty pointless war. The only way to make any progress in a fight like this is through innovation and new ideas.
  • they could also get a gm or 2 to play for a hour or so a day, they will only have to play for 5min befor they start catching hackers....love your idea.
  • Hey man, I've played with a Moderator ingame one time with my clannies. He's straight with us and really down to earth. There was a clear hacker in the game we were in and he told him/her to disable the hacks. They didn't comply, and he then took care of it later, hahaha. They do all they can to get these guys.

    No it isn't.
  • Srsly we need some means of self-defense like :
Unlimited votekicks for host of the room. Counting as 1 to 5 (by number of players in a room) +3 votekick armor.. :)

You may say this would help a hack-host, but you can allways choose which host do u wanna play with. And then you will be 100% sure that if you are familliar with your host, the game will be hack free.

This would be 1000 times better then it is now.

Then add the adjustable ping range on rooms or fixed for channels.
So you may chose who do you wanna play with it.

I'd be ok with this. You just have to put a system in place to not give a hacker host if the room host leaves/disconnects/etc. Maybe giving the host the ability to assign who should become host if he disconnects.

When a hacker is not kicked by limited vote kick, I don't think he will be kicked by unlimited vote kick also. Bcoz they players pressed f12 for keeping hackers in their team, will always press f12, no matter how many times u kick him. From your idea only one thing host can do additionally compare to present state. He can kick a hacker of the opponent team. But I don't think it is helpful either bcoz u need certain numbers of agrees to vote out a hacker. So by giving full authority to kick a hacker to the host can help your idea.
