ShadowLance9's Interview with [MOD]Hi!
[size=-5]XMAS LIGHTS![/size]
Well, as many of you have requested, I have interviewed [MOD]Hi! It went pretty well, too! So, here ya go!
Let's start with What's your favourite mode?
Well, seeing as I'm a competitive player [or used to] I guess I'm going to have to go with the generic S&D, it's always been a mode that I've loved. The fact that it's been around forever is also a great factor. But, I also tend to play Team Deathmatch as it's really easy.
Cool. SnD is fun. What's your favourite gun?
My favourite gun would be the AWM and any variation of it. You can't go wrong with a one hit kill gun.
lol nice. true enough though. What's the best thing about being a mod?
The best thing would be helping out. Sure, you do meet new people and learn things, but compared to being a regular player and helping people out, I think being a mod and helping people out would be much better. Plus, tons of people recognize me in game :P
Yea, and pretty much everyone knows who you are.
How often do you play?
I try to get in a few hours every day or so. Sometimes less, sometimes more. I'd like to say I'm active, but life does get the better of myself at times, and I'm forced to give up an hour or two to deal with it. I'd say roughly 15 hours a week [including idling
]
Cool, I don't really play so much myself, but I do enjoy a quick game. How's Project Android V2 coming along?
Project Android v2's going great. As some may know, it was Thanksgiving, and I vowed to design as much as I could. I did get tons done, including the server and channel selection. I'm planning on designing some more, so it will be tons of previews and tons of fun in the coming days
.
Cool. Great job by the way, it looks awesome.Do you enjoy working on Project Android and other goodies for the community?
Yeah, it keeps my creative mind active. I've been working on things like that for a while now, and it's not exactly the best hobby, but I enjoy it.
It is a good hobby, because you know people will enjoy it too. If technology were to take over the earth like it does in most sci-fi movies, what would you do?
Hm, that's a hard one. I think I would take a fire hose and short circuit all of the machinery I saw. Either that, or I'd run my butt off trying to get away from them.
lol cool, those would both work. (maybe. XD) If you could work with any famous youtuber, who would it be?
I would say ****higa or kevjumba. I remember both when they were just beginning [How to be Ninja is a staple in anybody's life]. Now, they're both multimillionaires [literally, from YouTube partnership]. Another person would be kevjumba's dad. Papa Jumba is my hero
.
Cool. What's your favourite music / band?
I am a really generic person. My favourite artist is Bruno Mars, I just like the way he sings. I guess I could say I like pop music and rap, but anything with him is just heaven for myself.
cool. I'm not really into pop that much myself, but there are some good songs. Favourite movie?
By far it would have to be the Hangover. A close second would be Fast 5.
Nice. haven't seen either of those yet. XP Favourite animal?
Probably the shark, have you ever heard of an animal that has to be in constant movement just to survive?
True enough. Favourite food?
I wouldn't be a true Asian if I didn't say rice, would I? )
lol What are your opinions on the latest patches?
Well, they've been a bundle of joy, and probably the best series of patches in a while. You can't do better than new maps, modes, guns, and virtually anything. The last patch has been probably a history making patch ever. There were an excess of 10 weapons / melees / etc. and 3 new characters. Not even mentioning the new patch. So far, it's been massive steps to perfection!Oh, and not to mention, the new replay system!
Yes, that is very useful! (The only thing I think they should add besides fixing the grenade bug, is adding the killmarks during the replay. :P) What's the best thing about ZM?
The fact that the AI's reaction time is so much slower than the time it takes me to one tap them.
lol that is pretty funny. gotta hate those snipers in biohazard though. What is the most interesting / funny thing that's ever happened to you?
Well, a couple years ago, my family and I were on vacation, and we missed our flight back home. Being the cheepskates we were [my family's somewhat rich, but they don't enjoy spending money for nothing] we slept at the airport loading gates. I spent a whole night awake with my cousin because there had to be somebody watching. It was a good, but long experience :P.
Very interesting indeed. Where did you get the name Hi?
Well, a while back, in 2009, I thought that my old name [which was chosen because of the clan I was the LT of] was kind of out of date because I had finally moved onto the competitive community. A couple of my friends / teammates thought that a simple one or two letter name would be good, so we brainstormed a few. Finally, I just got bored and entered one that I thought was nice. Surprisingly, Hi wasn't taken, so I hopped onto the two letter name train, and it's been my name until this day.
Cool. That is a pretty interesting way to think of names. What is your favourite thing about CF?
I like the style of the game. Other games are either much too easy [in a way in which a kill is as easy as holding down your mouse button and moving your crosshair around], or much too complex. I think Cross Fire is a really simplified game. It's not too complex in which there's 100 different things that would probably never happen in real life, and it's not too hard.
Yes, CF is pretty simple (but not too simple.) What is your least favourite thing about CF?
Well, to be honest, I just don't enjoy the fact that the competitive community hasn't taken off yet. I mean, everything is done correctly to the handbook, but either the players aren't doing it right, or the leagues aren't doing it right. Being a retired league administrator myself, I know how hard the community can be at times, and I can walk in their shoes, but the community has to learn that they have to be a part of the community [properly] for it to function.
Yes, that is an issue. Do you like being a MOD?
I enjoy it. It's not the job that you hate having to do, because you meet new people, and there's really nothing impossible about the job. Like I said before, I enjoy helping people out. I'm a very outgoing person
.
Yes, and I'm pretty sure that most of the communtiy that use the forums are (is?) happy that you're a MOD now. Who is your favourite MOD, besides yourself?
Hm, I have tons of MODs that I like for different reasons,
Polleus - You can't argue with that, he's the full package [one of my best friends before and after he got the job as moderator]
Talonblaze - I said it before, I'll say it again, he's one of the smartest people I know. While he's not the person to gloat about it, I've read some really intelligent debates from him.
Iceman - doesn't take anything from anyone
Rory - he's a Photoshopper!
Rex - he's very good with the community.
If I could choose a favourite, it would be much too hard, I think everyone on the team was chosen for a reason, and it was a good positive reason.
Yes, great explanation. I agree with you on all of those, but the only reason I choose Talon as my favourite, is because he's me brother.:P I am working on a new project for the community that I believe has never been done before (at least on the Z8 forums, anyways). Should I release a preview of what it is, or should I wait and just release it when I'm finished?
Well, what I usually do is I release things that I know are finalized. For example, right now, Project Android v2's previews have been limited up to the Channel Selection, but I'm done a little bit more. Always be ahead of the game, never rush to get things done. If it's an ongoing project [such as a guide or UI], feel free to release previews. If it's a guide, release it when it's done
.
True enough, all though it's a little hard to take advice from that, since my project is completely different from all of those (it has nothing to do with CF in game or in the client) but I'll make my decision soon, probably based off of that. If you could choose who the Next MOD would be, who would it be, and why?
I don't think I can answer that :P
lol you're not the only one. I asked Talon that also, and he didn't have an answer either, so I just took it off. XP Whose posts do you enjoy reading on the forums the most?
In all honesty, Denxi's competitive section suggestions. Believe it or not, he's a massive influence on the competitive community. From his guides, to his boost spot areas, to his suggestions to the game. He has his moments.
Cool. I'm not really in the competitive section that much (seeing as how I can never play against some of the pros) but I'm guessing their posts have great content. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Fun, Creative, Perfectionist [not sure if this is a good or bad trait]
lol it's debatable. You're a designing (graphics?) guy, right? Do you have any plans for big projects after Android is finished?
Well, things pop up all of the time. I'm debating making a massive guide on the game, but that would be really time consuming. There is a chance, though.
Cool, I would definitely read that, see if there's any good tips I should know about. :P How did you feel after Bruce stepped down when mostly everyone was saying you should be the next MOD?
Well, I felt flattered at the least, I didn't know tons of people knew me that well.
Wow, really? I thought you were already pretty popular. Any tips for anyone out there who is trying their best to become a MOD?
Well, what I learned [from my own experience] was that being yourself consistently. If anyone remembers me from over a year ago, I was probably a big suck up [and I admit that]. I learned that sucking up never helped, so I just went on helping the community without expecting anything. Then I met Polleus, who taught me to help and be humble. Eventually, I stopped wanting to be MOD. Suddenly, I started helping more and more. It was easy, I knew tons, and they wanted to know. I was like their teacher. One day, I got offered the job, and I accepted. The moral of the story is to be yourself consistently, don't be anybody else. Be helpful and active, make friends, and don't make getting MOD the center of your life. I learned this the hard way a while back.
Great advice! Another little bit I think I should add in, is, like you said, don't be a suck-up, but tell the community the truth, without the excess suck-up stuff. here's a bit more of a silly question. Who is the next [MOD] President of cookies? I vote Talon, and you as VP.
Hm, that's a tough one. I'd agree with you though. Also, [MOD]Rory for President of Pie?
Sure! well, thanks for taking the time to do this interview, I think the community will also enjoy this, because now people know you a little better. :P
:P Thanks for having me.
No problem!

So who do you think I should interview next? Also, if another MOD decides to say sure in this or my other thread, they will be the biggest priority, since I already know that I have their co-operation!

The point of these interviews isn't to be a short read or funny. It is for people to know our MODs a little better (and maybe even some popular or well known forumers)MilkMunzta wrote: »LOLOL. Tasty got banned ^^^^^^
I want you to interview Rory next too. He's got one weird whacked out mind... Just make it shorter or add more funny stuff because you lost me at the 11th question -
Well I'm up for some questions, if they are answered in a text of course, answering orally is harder for a Portuguese speaker.
Oh and nice interview
I plan on doing all interviews through text, don't worry. :P The only reason I asked Talon his questions orally is because he was just on the other side of the room as me at the time. XD
But sure, I'd be down for an interview with ya.I'll do an interview as people keep asking.
Although not tonight. I'm going now.
Cool, even more interviews! :P
Would both of you just contact Talonblaze in some way to set up a way for us to contact each other easier, PM'ing would take too long. :P Just talk to him, since he is pretty much right beside me most of the time.
