AMD Bulldozer benchmarks are in!

An incomplete chip, and poor benchmark choices. Core for core however as was already known intel is dominating amd.
Incomplete chip? That chip is already released, it's not just some early benchmark batch. And poor benchmark choices? Why do you say that? Yes intel will always be dominating amd, it's a fact. But, I thought bulldozer will have improved quite a bit from its phenom line. That's really not the case. -

It's a poor benchmark choice because unless I'm wrong and they have updated it recently it is going to scale well over quad cores. And no... from what I've actually heard the chip is actually quite good... but not for raw power. It seems like they are trying to make a graphics design chip to be honest. Or anything like that - something that as the new softwares that can utilize all 8 cores efficiently would see a performance gain over a quad core even if that quad has more raw power. Though even that should be irrelevant with ivy. -
The Bulldozer is terribad. It has nearly two billion transistors yet it's outperformed by the 2500k that only has 950 million transistors and is cheaper.
Oh, and it requires waaaay too much wattage to get decent performance. The Bulldozer overclocked to 4.77Ghz uses 455 watt and performs like the 2600k at stock clock using 160 watt. -

The only thing I can see bulldozer being useful for is when software begins making full use of 8 cores. But again that will be nullified by ivy. This is just sad. -

Yeah. And it's going to be bad for everyone. Intel gaining more marketshare is bad

Not really. At least Intel doesn't charge out of the ass for their processors. Remember those 1000 dollar AMD processors back then they were just barely beating intel?
300 bucks for an i7 that dominates anything in AMD's lineup and they still keep prices low. Monopolizing or not I don't care. -

Intel is a company driven to make money. If they get monopoly then they WILL raise their prices. -

And AMD will always have cheaper processors. Even if they don't perform AS WELL. You can get a set up pretty cheap. If they raise the prices people will just buy the cheap as dirt AMD ones that do everything they really need to. Besides AMD is making enough from their graphics card front to pay for their failures as a CPU manufacturer. -

That's why the Bulldozer is more expensive than the 2600k...
The yield on them are going to be low because of the size of the chip, so the prices are going to be higher. -

this^^
but im not happy about this!
edit: is there any news on the GPUs coming with the ivys might get a ivy laptop as it comes out around my birthday
