Windows xp issue

when i load crossfire up the mouse and keyboard has a huge delay in response and then had random bursts of normal response. it alternates between normal and this delayed response.

I have xp pro x64, core i3. i set affinity to cpu 0 thinking that would help but it didnt.

Im thinking it has to do with a combination of crossfire, windows xp, and my hardware.

If anyone knows a solution to fix this it would be most appreciated i really dont want to reinstall windows 7 since xp uses way less resources. but i guess thats my last resort, since i know crossfire worked when i had windows 7 installed.

  • issue solved. If anyone has problems like these and they have avast antivirus install avast is causing the issue.

the solution turn off realtime protection just while you play crossfire and im guessing any other game.

reason: avast has some kind of software emulation thing i guess to test out what the program does b4 it actually runs on the computer itself.

how i realised this was i open taskman up saw a process named SF.bin running under system. so i googled it pretty sure it wasnt a virus since this is a clean installation of windows xp. came up with being part of avast.

so hope that helps anyone that also had my same issue.
