Drafts - Four Questions :)

just make an "invite" draft...
invite certain players who you know:
1. will not give out passwords ect.
2. are chill/respectful
This way you won't need an AC, the small community can regulate its self.
I think this is a good start acutally, instead of starting big, we should start small. This small community of respectable people will attract others. This puts power in the people who want good for the community and they can essentially build the community any way they want IF its a success. Get back to studying moch ffs

Didn't SNSD try that? We could probably make a go of it. Although instead of invite have it sort of an "application" thing if we could have some sort of message box to do it. We are trying to make it more "open" to the community while still keeping the "Riff raff" out.
The idea that you have to be invited might deter some of the pubbers we are trying to attract because they would think it was more of a "known" player thing. In respects it will be, but it will also be open to fresh blood. -

I didn't say anything about being known ect, you just have to be respectful (as much as possible in a competitive atmosphere) / chill (relaxed, dosen't attack other players for random reasons, ect)
but ye the invite system is a little more "intimidating(?)" to new players but I think it's still alot better/easier than applications
With time more and more players will get invited and eventually you'll have a solid amount of players. -
Lol no one, and that's why I want to give it a shot... As much as I down talk this game and community I'm still enough of an optimist to see a glimmer of hope for this game. I'll fight for that glimmer til the end I guess.[MOD]Iceman wrote: »Muffin send me $15 Ill let you play everyone else is $2.99......lawl

Yeah, I see what you mean... in that case it would be nice to get a few contacts in some pub clans, and invite any players from them that may want to attend and let them have a taste of it.I didn't say anything about being known ect, you just have to be respectful (as much as possible in a competitive atmosphere) / chill (relaxed, dosen't attack other players for random reasons, ect)

That just didn't happen. I mean SNSD doesn't even care, it was either a troll or it flopped. Either way moch's idea is a good one. i think the best people to run said draft would be: Muffin (whoever you are), Hi, iceman, Denxi, Polleus and ofc ME!
-
no, that is too many people right there for such a small group...one of the biggest issues most drafts have is with their admins...
The way you SHOULD set up the admin system:
Owner (1) has full powers
Admin (1) has full powers
---, ---
mod (1) has very limited powers, is mostly the ears for upper managment.
---
There is no need to have 8 admins for any amount of players...once the draft gets bigger you promote the mod to admin status and hire mods as you see fit -

Lol, I doubt anyone really knows me. I played competitively and by that I mean scrimmed a lot before WEM. After WEM I kinda gave up.
Polleus, Iceman, and Denxi, and Hi are ironically the only people I think in the competitive forum who know my IGN.
I kinda agree Moch... I don't really think of Hi being on so much between his life and forum moderating duties to handle the draft. Polleus is at work most of the time and has access to a PC... but he lags on vent/mumble so that becomes pointless as no one can really hear him from the lag. Iceman is pretty known and on quite a bit. As for myself... I'm on almost all day, but I don't think (because of everyone thinking of me as a pubstar) that I would have the respect for people to listen to me while administrating for a draft. Oh, and Denxi would also be on there with Iceman. -

Your IGN changes too much for my liking.
But yes, I'm completely willing to start up an invite draft Ventrilo with that mentioned staff. If they're willing to hop on board, I'd be cool with that. I do agree with Moofz though, I do have a life, and I can't be on much during the week days, except for either on my iPod or some type of computer on the forums. I can barely play the game because of the simple fact that my day consists of doing work.
Friday night drafts would be amazing though, invite, once a week. With three moderators on the team, hacking could be non-existent, especially when some type of power comes in for us in game to ban automatically. If not, players could be reported and stuff would be dealt with.
Invite draft, only known players, or personally invited. More rules would be talked about if the project took off. -
Whoever says that a draft doesn't need anti-cheat probably cheats. I think there is a great opportunity within Crossfire to start a draft-pug system generally around the idea of ESEA's. Make it free. Make an anti cheat. Make it organized.
Polleus.... great business opportunity if it expands man. -

I have been open to starting up such a system. Muffin and I have discussed it in great length. The underlying issue that we have run into is the company owned server problem. How does one verify that the right people are using the anti-cheat without a server-sided AC verification? You would basically have to rely on an honor system for people to report players who aren't signed in with the right game account. I'm not sure I'd be willing to trust some of the collective Cross Fire players with that "honor system". Look where the honor system got WCG. -

It isn't hard. Each user account is linked with a Crossfire account. Crossfire account must match the one in the lobby prior to game starting (examined by dedicated pre-game spectator) Hardware ID scans to verify people aren't sharing accounts. Full blow anti cheat, not some WOGL-Scrimspot baloney that is programmed in a matter of seconds.
What other factors to consider? -

Right. I see how that can work. Now tap into your billionaire funds and support the bandwidth to have players on the A/C servers all day

+1 Absolutely possible.1g_tastylime wrote: »Whoever says that a draft doesn't need anti-cheat probably cheats. I think there is a great opportunity within Crossfire to start a draft-pug system generally around the idea of ESEA's. Make it free. Make an anti cheat. Make it organized.
