Drafts - Four Questions :)
I often see drafts start and end pretty quickly. Either something goes wrong with the people who manage it or people end up cheating/glitching and nothing ever gets done. I also often see a lot of people show support for a great draft. Now, at this point in time, how can a "great" draft be run? 4 questions to start:
1) Without some sort of better cheat protection, it's basically an open season. Personally, I wouldn't attend a draft knowing that cheaters could run free if they wanted to. Suggestions on this? Suggestions must provide some sort of regulation/enforcement idea as well. For example, you suggest method A. What is method A? If a player gets caught using method A, how does it go about being reported/enforced? Etc. Some players don't think there should be an anti-cheat because it's only a draft. Please provide reasoning either way and support your answers.
2) Does the competitive collective prefer more or less restrictions on rule sets for drafts? More along the lines of a League rule set or more open/less restricted? What would promote the best atmosphere for a draft?
3) Team stacking. Are you for it? Against it? Does it even matter? Provide reasons to support your answers please. If you are against it, offer up a suggestion for team selection that you think would best prevent it. If you are for it or don't care about it, express your reasoning as well if you can.
4) Draft Times? What is most convenient? Weekends (Early or Late) ; Weekdays (Early or Late). Please be specific in terms of the general population, not just for yourself. What do you think would be the best times for the overall collective of players?
Let's try and solve those questions first throughout the next day or two
Please don't discuss anything outside those 4 points if you can help it. I am doing this for a reason. Thanks everyone.

Drafts don't need an anti-cheat. Simple. Its a small event for the community ran by the community. Unless you would charge to play the draft, which would be a major turnoff, no need.
You simply need a few people who are familiar with most players, familiar with legit/cheated play, that are unbiased. I'm pretty sure its easy to know if someone is cheating as if in the case a random pubstar came in and dropped a 20 while preaiming/prefiring everywhere, while on the other hand you know when a player such as sauce, slaya, and other known names come in, they are proven legit players, unless you know, they prove otherwise.
And I'd say its simple, you get caught cheating, send the replay to support, and permaban from the draft.[MOD]Polleus wrote: »2) Does the competitive collective prefer more or less restrictions on rule sets for drafts? Depends on what type of gun you are talking about.
Rifles should be basic, no silver/adv/ZP weapons. No questions asked.
Pistols.. Toughie here, I mean, every pistol in my mind should be allowed, except the DE Camo, for its reload is much faster plus the +2 bullets.
Snipers? All allowed. Theres really not a difference between AWPs except 5 bullets/skin? (AWM-C has a faster reload.. But it shouldn't matter) No big deal.[MOD]Polleus wrote: »3) Team stacking. Against. I love the randomness of going to a draft and playing with different people. I also dislike when you face a team that is gonna call strats and play together in scrims on a regular basis
You could simply use David's method. Captains get to pick 1 player, then it is randomized.[MOD]Polleus wrote: »4) Draft Times? What is most convenient? Fri/Sat/Sun at 7:30/8 p.m. EST would be the best possible time for most people, in my opinion at least.

Or assign each person a number and use a randomiser program to randomise the numbers and cut them into teams of 4 (excluding the captain), or cut it into teams of 5 and cut the captain deal out if necessary
Would EU players be included in these drafts or is it strictly NA?
From my experience of playing drafts, they usually got full around 10-11pm GMT (5-6 EST) on weekdays. I'd say keep it consistant with these times on the weekend too. -

mykl ><
Basically what Suko said, although i do enjoy going to drafts with another person and playing, makes it a bit more enjoyable. For the cheating issue, I would say instead of an anti cheat, if a player has more then (lets say 5) hackusations against him, he must Growler or Fraps for the rest of the draft unless and admin deems he was in fact cheating. I also think that bans should not be permanent.
Essentially it needs to be organised with a mature and level headed staff, with that success if imminent. -

5? I'd say 15. Them yankee teens are so paranoid they drop hackusations left and right like there's no tomorrow. Can't blame 'em, you aren't meant to play games anyway.
EU rocks -
Way we did it in EU drafts? NONbiased admins monitoring/watching/spectating/call it w/e you want the player who has been reported as rather suspiciousGiggletron wrote: »Ohyeahbro ^5
But seriously. How would you monitor the "hackusations" on players?
But then again, EUs don't cheat unless you're 2nd Drix or F so we didn't have to deal with some kind of huge amount of hackusations really.
Last time we banned someone for cheating was Asian.Swagga but then again he made it so obvious I decided to keep the replay 'til I die. Kid was hilarious, haha.
I'm just ceyhan

Either people will report him or not. You also know you have to take a closer look if players like SuKo, sNitcheZ or black0ut show up, no? Altho I believe SuKo behaves better now and is ready to play legitimately, dunno. At least he doesn't act like a total dick, which cheaters usually doGiggletron wrote: »I mean how will X admin know that X player has X amount of backed up hackusations
Denxi, sauce, Polleus, Iceman? Even dag if he's not being a weirdooooo. Dunno if Sauce can act serious enough to run such thing but meh =/.Giggletron wrote: »How many Non Biased people do you know that would be mature and organised enough to run a draft?
Take some EUs for example... Boo (please don't judge him off his forum posts), Will [xeN.]? Even I could help if I found enough time to do that, I believe we ran things in EU draft quite well and everyone enjoyed playing it 'til the EU split came up and now silly EUs don't know what to play - CF NA or CF EU.
Limit the draft to like..100 people so you don't get overloaded with work. Get rid of highly immature and annoying teens and you've got yourself a successful draft =P. -

I ran krzy's pug vent pretty much by myself... but w/e
I also banned my own team mate for not following the rules, how un-biased can I get? -

True. But those are very well known cheaters. Thats like allowing Warhawk into Echo 8.
Id agree with Polleus and Iceman, obvious choices being Moderators and everything.BlitZ_Bolt wrote: »I ran krzy's pug vent pretty much by myself... but w/e

Its up to the players. If you want to participate than go for it. I personally don't do drafts anymore. The management is horrendous and time is wasted after every match, because someone thought this person cheated or this person was wearing a illegal item etc.
As for team stacking, well it kind of eliminates the point of a draft.
But like i said, its up to the players who want to participate. -

I did that once
