and threads like this can be infracted, and are a lot, so be careful.

People who are often subject to repeating the offense will get picked out over the others. it makes sense, there is no point punishing somebody who is more then likely not to do it again anyway.

Edit: also remaking a closed thread is actualy against the rules. but I doubt they will infract you since your just trying to have an intelligent convo.

(you can't complain about some people not getting infracted if this is the case)

I thought I had answered most of the questions, but oh well, I'm used to repeating myself because people are trying to make a point and "own" on the interwebs.



Some people are infracted, some aren't, based on the context.
The key idea is to infract when appropriate for rule violations - and NEVER infract for things that aren't.
Thats a judgement call we have to make.
For instance, the "idiot" drop in that other thread didn't get an infraction because it was obvious the thread was going to be closed soon.
It would have been a complete waste of time and as far as I'm concerned, he was right.
If another moderator makes another call on that - the person will get infracted.
Who gets infracted and who doesn't isn't something we discuss.
Mostly because its none of your business, wasting time trying to "fight da power!!!!!" is time forever lost.
And of course also because we review hundreds of threads and hundreds of posts daily - deciding whether or not to infract a post is a decision usually done in less than two seconds. Its impossible to recollect how one reasoned in one particular thread on one particular sentence in one particular post.

Surely even someone like you see how impractical it would be for us to have to motivate every infraction (or lack of infraction) to anyone who asked.
