"Failed to connect to server"

I'm new to the game and when I reach the login screen I get the following error: "Failed to connect to server" and the game closes down.
Could somebody tell me what the matter might be?

Hey Vaivoria2, try to run it as administrator if you have Windows 7 or go on your Admin account and try to run it. Hope this helps . :] -
Update: It’s now two days later and still no progress.
I have turned off both my anti virus and firewall. I am the administrator of this computer. The server was online when I tried to connect. I live in New Zealand (green listed) so I should have a clear pathway to the server. I meet the specs required for the game as well.
Can anyone please help?
