Also: my parents went to a college that is a bit worse than the one that i want to go to, and they each make over $100,000 a year. So yeah i think im good.

Top colleges definitely care about advanced classes, if they are looking at a person with the same qualifications as another but challenged themselves and took advanced classes, both had 4.0s they would take the person who took advanced classes, a lot of times it boils down to that stuff at large universities, a few classes can make or break you. Of course SAT and ACT are also used, but they also look at your classes whether they were blow off or not. My sister got a 3.7 at an IB program school and my friend had a 4.0 taking AP classes, both of them played sports and did volunteer work/clubs etc, but my sister got in because she took IB classes while he got wait listed at the same university.
however getting C's in advanced classes isn't going to help you, if you can't handle it just switch to normal classes. -
I want to hear other people's future life plans.
If you're still in high school, then what is your career plan?
How do you plan on making it happen?(Parents pay, get a job, student loans, money grants, etc)
If you're already out of high school, what are you studying to become? Or did you already start your career? What is it?
If there's anything else related, post it.
Me:
I screwed up high school.
I just started as a senior and I'm doing good, but my freshman and junior years were not so good.
I just wised up, but it might be too late.
My sister just started college and I HIGHLY doubt my parents can afford sending us both with our financial status.
As for career plans, I HAVE NO idea. I'm just not good at anything that I can think of.
I'm still searching.
You're a senior and have no clue? Dudeeeee

I don't discuss my personal life, but its a menial yet high paying job in a small part of the metal industry.
Wouldn't consider it a part of my career though, just a way earn money without effort until I decide on more specific future plans.
No university is going to have "know how to assemble a PC" as an admission requirement.
Anyway, I wouldn't know. I haven't gone to university yet.
Don't know why people are so hell bent on going to uni straight after graduation, and putting themselves in endless debt.
Get a job, pay for your education in cash and come out with a REAL future - not one always darkened by debt.
I don't mind waiting to 25 before getting a higher education.
i can relate to you, a lot actually. graduated HS, been working in a machine shop for almost 2 years now. looking to go to college for engineering technology, i have some drafting experience so it shouldnt be too bad. but i definately agree about making some cash before enrolling. -

Naw, first year of unemployment flew by, the employed years flew by even faster.I would at least wait till I have a stable job with enough money saved up, but5-7 years?
Seems too long for me.
Its easy to fill life with things that are time consuming. -

I retract my earlier statement.
The way you said it made it sound like a hobby.Naw, first year of unemployment flew by, the employed years flew by even faster.

Maybe for some people.
Personally I would want to get it done trough, but my family is broke so not sure if I could.
On a related note, what are some good technical schools for technology in southern cali? -

Dancing with a hot celeb, very bright. -
If you're not going to at least a Technical School and you're going to join in the marines. It doesn't look bright.
Join the Army. Marines are for people that replaceable. (Unless you graduated HS with less than a 3.0)
i was thinking about enlisting as a diesel mechanic in the army but i've decided to enlist in the marines.
if i survive the marines i plan on going to school to be a mechanic anyways -
Uhm, why enlist if you have a REAL future already planned?i was thinking about enlisting as a diesel mechanic in the army but i've decided to enlist in the marines.

Why was my post deleted when I said Harvard Business School? It wasn't a satirical joke about Patrick Bateman....
I'm in my final year of high school and have a 3.9 GPA with impressive extracurriculars. I am either doing 8 years of law school in Canada at U of T and Osgoode Hall, or going across the boarder and getting a business degree from the most prestigious school in the world. -

Because not everyone can actually afford to go to college. That's one of my reasons for going into the Army. I figure I can join, go for my first deployment. Afterwards go into reserves for a while and use the GI Bill to get my college education. Then I can re-take the MEPs exam and get into Commanders School.Because Americans are idiots who love to throw their lives away to be "patriotic"
And I guess that makes me an idiot for deciding to serve my country? Because I wanted to do something, that in the long run, might actually make a difference? I didn't do it to be patriotic. I did it for more selfish reason. I'm joining the Army so I can help make sure that this world is a safer place for my children, and my children's children. -

Because war makes things safer, now at any point during that did you think about the fact you are serving in an institution that is making things less safe for some other families children? And their children's children? -

Well, you don't need a college education to get a well-paying job, which after a couple of years can fund your college education.
Putting your life on the line for some hypocritical ideal doesn't seem very though through. -

War helps to make the enemies of the nation go away, or be less likely to attack. So sometimes war is actually the answer. I am making the United States safer for future generations.Well, you don't need a college education to get a well-paying job, which after a couple of years can fund your college education.

Here's the thing.. With how horrible I did the first three years of High School, no one will hire me. So if I get the Army to pay for my college, I'm all good. -

Seriously? Wars helps make the enemies of the nation go away? War is the answer? War makes america safe? What are you 5? Wake up and look around you, you people invaded iraq for oil and nothing more, don't make bs excuses. When you went over there to "protect" american lives did you even think about the innocent civilians lives that you were taking? The children of hard working people that have nothing to do with your war? Did you? You didn't.
You are not making the US safer, you are just making the world worst. -

What makes you think that the US is killing children? Or are you, like the rest of the world, making huge assumptions as to what the United States does, to try to make a monster out of something that isn't? How old are you, five?
It's people like, the ones who try to make villains out of the United States that are the reason people look down on the soldiers. -

I know american soldiers do it just like some other soldiers do it. Ffs there are videos of american soldiers shooting people from helicopters and laughing, SHOOTING CIVILIANS. There is also a video of a marine throwing a puppy off of a cliff and many other shiit like that. You aren't signing up to protect your country, you are signing up to serve your governments oil and money thirst, but you are so brainwashed you can't even fuucking realize it.
Iraq isn't the villain here, you are, you started a war because of a oil and blaimed it on terrorists, spreading a huge wave of racism towards ALL muslims when most of them are just normal people.
And btw i don't look down on soldiers, i look down on idiots that can't think for themselves and believe in everything they are told.
I'm done here, not gonna kill this thread with OT. -

i don't agree with the iraq war, but i definitely do NOT agree with your statement. -

You know what kid, whatever you say. I'm going to be going out and fight to protect the freedom and safety that the United States citizens have. What are you doing with your life? Nothing. So shut the fuck up.
