The causes of hatred amongst players on Crossfire.

First off what justifies my writing of this is nothing. These are all observations that I have made while growing up playing this game. You may disagree with me, or not even take the time to read this, amongst various other options. I’d advise you to read through the thread in its entirety before posting. Also, these are all things we already know, but seem to have forgotten.

To begin I’ll start with some obvious things.
1) Crossfire is a free to play game that is enjoyed by multiple nationalities hailing from all over the world.
2) Crossfire is free, but you may donate to receive ZP that then in the mind of the player gives them special status.
3) All people play crossfire through a medium, as in they are not really themselves.
4) Differing conditions around the world contribute to differing pings, cultures, and languages.
5) Hacking is done by every single country in the world, this probably has some exceptions such as Papua New Guinea but that’s beside the point.

Like I said the above are already known by all players of Crossfire, or at the very least should be. To get to the main point of this thread I will now breakdown what I believe are the main causes of resentment being so ridiculously high amongst us.

The Language Barrier. This causes many problems throughout Crossfire, if not much of the world, but why? In a pub game with other low pingers the word hacker is thrown around a lot, but is mostly corrected due to the fact that players speak the same language. This same problem, however, is not resolved when this takes place between people who do not share a common language. As a result, breeds resentment between said player and said person.

That person, until corrected, will start a campaign to spread his way of thinking because it is what he believes to be the bane of his, and others, existence on Crossfire. This spreads throughout the people and stereotypes are born, just like in real life, and leads to segregation amongst us people. Two separated groups naturally will have a bit of a sprit of competition amongst them. When two groups are unequal one starts to blame the differences, that before were merely commonly believed stereotypes, as the cause of the problems between the groups.

Using Americans or Canadians then comparing them to BR’s or Turk’s, you see the differences right away. Different culture, language, and ping thus, without ever even knowing the two groups you can assume they wouldn’t get along. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not justifying the hate at all, I’m merely stating that looking at these bare traits from a detached perspective you see this.
So the question is how can this be remedied? That is a good question that has plagued the world since the dawn of man, and as a result there is no clear cut answer. A possibility that is costly, would be the implementation of a auto-translator on Crossfire that way the barrier would be destroyed. The other, cheaper (?), solution would be to add IP restricted servers and/or rooms, but this is merely segregating the populace even further and pushing the problem “under the rug” so to speak.

Ping. This is the root of the problem in all honesty; differing pings allow players to justifiably segregate each other without anything else even in the picture. Different pings give players of a online game different perspectives, on MMOFPS’s anyway. It contributes to unfair play, a lagger with 2k ping getting a 6 kill causes more problems than we could ever deal with. Seriously, when it comes down to it, I don’t hate you in game because of you, I hate your ping.

Many others would, without a doubt, agree with this statement, but again these are all things we already know in the first place right? Solutions to this are numerous truly, but how plausible are any of the solutions that we’ve developed? Ping capped rooms, servers, channels all are things thought up by this community, but they aren’t implemented due to high costs, thus we are forced to go through games with those with high pings. Is it fair? No, but that’s life, and also this is a game. As much as I’d like to say otherwise, the amount of cash I’ve spent on here is far to much haha, this is a game made to distract you from reality, it’s only real in the sense that we define the word real, which is relative person to person.

The fact that this is the Internet. I began to touch on this in the previous section, but the fact that this isn’t real life allows people to behave differently. People are more blunt, rude, and fake all around. It’s a fact that we all know again. This truth makes it so that the people on this game could care less about their fellow player which leads to conflict leading to possible language barriers which escalates the problem. More problems occur because of clashing opinions, and goading over ridiculous things like “ Hey guys look at this epic 5 kill I scored on this pro team.” which then leads to even more ridiculousness.

You’ll notice I didn’t put hacking on here. Why? That’s because the above three factors contribute to the desire people have to hack is to get even, or get one over on another nationality. Hacking in itself, as a result, is a result of these things, not it’s own individual issue.

  • You left out some key points, such as the average age of the gamer (implying immaturity), and the fact that this is an fps which are notorious for egotists and wannabe macho men.

I read the topic so ill just say this. SUCK IT UP!
  • An integrated translator would never work.
Most people nowadays don't give a farg about their grammar, and translators require correct grammar in order to have a proper translation. Therefore, we would have broken translations which may lead to misunderstanding and whatnot.

I don't really get where's the point of this ?
  • This wasn't a "rage" thread by any means. This was seriously just a few observations about the communtity. The point of the thread is explained in the title.

Also, I stated that you already know what I was posting about, it shouldn't be anything thing new at all.

that's a great theory there dear Watson ROFL
  • You are NOT clever.
In some points you are not right.
Conclusions from the others are lets say "funny".

Some hack more - hated more.
Some cant speak English - their fail.
Some lagg - if they have 200+ ping they shouldnt be playing at all - their fault.
Some cry "hackeeeer" every 2 minutes - they should be kicked for whining.

Hatred arises, when u cant do a **** with problems.
    Like :
I will steal your wallet, you will come to me, smash my mouth few times, take your wallet back.
    - situation settled.
BUT : I will steal your wallet, while in a big gang, u cant smash my mouth, you cant have your wallet back - hatred.

A question for you, by the way your old killmarks were awesome, if the game was centered in brazil as an example but then heavily advertised where your from is it fair to say that it's the pure fault of the player?

Furthermore, as the game was targetted at that region is it honestly fair to suggest that a game targetted at them isn't meant for them?

Also, the "point" you address in your post was addressed in the reasoning of the hatred. :

Two separated groups naturally will have a bit of a sprit of competition amongst them. When two groups are unequal one starts to blame the differences, that before were merely commonly believed stereotypes, as the cause of the problems between the groups.

Another thing, you sir are already biased towards hatred of foreign populaces, regardless of their actions as is evident in your post.

The entire arguement about people being overall selfish, or rude when dealing with others is addressed in the main post as well and include age as that can be faked easily online.

Why are people assuming that this is a "rage" thread? The way things are phrased maybe? Or are they just not taking the time out to read it?

OP: It was a good read, unfortunately most of the people on this forum are too immature to appreciate a good thread.

well i kinda trolled in big letters :D and yeah im biased, which is VITAL for all human beings, or more for all beings, mice are biased about cats you know, that helps them to survive :)

Its all about statistics, about statistical racism you can say. and thats not wrong, its ok. but its ok only when people can still recognize the difference between the group and individuals.
Prejudice its not a wrong thing. Its helpfull in deciding who you will rather interact with :)

What am i trying to say (english is not my native, as you as a clever boy allready noticed i suppose :) is that unequal communities are not only unequal compared to each other but can be measured on larger, outside comparison scales.

Im not the one who would call this thread a rage one :)

And ty for my killmarks, nice memory out there :)

But to the point why i dont like your post is : where is the conclusion ? where is the solution ? :) And please stop with relativism. some things are better then others :)
  • And when this game was located in Brasil, and advertised in my region, i would do one of the two things :
1 - "St Augustine: Letters Volume I " about 340 AD : " when in rome, do as the romans do"
2 - dont play the game, i cant fit in, there are literally hundreds of mupliplayer games, so theres dont need to sit in one game, especially when games are meant for FUN. And me, personally, can have fun only when others enjoy the game.

some arguments maybe ? something clever for me and the people ?
never say anything without a reason, you will waste other poeple time, as well as yours.

Biasing was a vital part of the early surivival of mankind that is true. What is a fallacy, however, is that it's still required today, we as humans should strive to go past that and observe others point of view. Then not be so limited in what we think, feel, and believe.

Prejudice is wrong is every way shape and form and in the context im concerned with is the same as bias. It's a outdated mechanic that again, we as a species should strive to go past. The reason being looks are only half the story, what the context is, is far more important.

The reason behind there being no conclusion is because this was a thread that had the purpose of pointing out the causes for the hate amongst the people of Crossfire. also, I can't stop being relative because as the old saying goes " To each his own." Everyone has their own views, and I'm aware of that then adapt my views so they are more worldly.

The following post you said I agree with, there is no need to follow the crowd, fight the natural human instinct!

By the way, I'm horrible with grammar. =/
  • Like others have said here, this is an fps. FPS games are notorious for ****-waving!

Btw. : every weakness one or group posses is imediatelly used against him. and treating all living creatures equally is a weakness. Know your foe, love your foe, but never forget he is your foe.

You need to study, you need to read and u need to mature. Search up crime statists by race in USA. then talk about bias. ascendingly crime rates : (yellow from SE asia, white european origin, hispanic, black)

Your logic is not flawed, your logic doesnt exist.

Im not following the crowd, im not following them to the grave of political corectness, (un)equal opportunities, and saying that every human being is the same. ITS NOT, there are stupid, there are gay, there white, there are stupid white gay pedophiles, there are black gangsters, you know, poeple are not the same, if they would, the communism WOULD WORK
