I dont care that people say AMD sucks. I like them.
My processor and gfx card are AMD.. never had a problem with them. I hear constant complaints from people with NVIDIA cards that they keep having problems.
True an intel could easily outperform my AMD Phenom II x6... But its fine for me. Runs all my games maxxed out along with my Radeon HD 6950 2GB.

AMD is excellent for building budget, but yet powerful gaming machines. Just for about $600, you can build a computer which can play crysis 2 on max. -

Yup. I built mine on a £600 budget and has run everything maxxed out at least with 40-50 fps. Like Crysis and GTA4. Episdoes from Liberty City runs even higher at roughly 70-80 maxxed.
Crysis 2 isnt so hard to run to be honest. -

After switching from intel to AMD, i'd never go back. love my amd processor, its powerful as hell, and cheap!!! but my nVidia gfx card pwns with it...jst saying ;DGiggletron how much fps would you get in cf with a amd phenomIIx6 with like 16gb of ram?
cf maxxes out at ~200fps -

CF seems to be locked at 200... so.. 200Cool, they've reached the highest clock speed.
Now when are they going to match up in performance?
I doubt they will
They were probably trying to break the record or at least see how high they could get it. I dont think they intend for it to be stabily used... they cooled it with liquid nitrogen. -

you mean, you guys DONT use liquid nitrogen//helium to cool your pc's...?
#cheap -
buy 4 gig of ram and spend the money you saved on those 12GB on an SSD, which will net you more FPS than 12 GB of ram you'll never use ever would.Giggletron how much fps would you get in cf with a amd phenomIIx6 with like 16gb of ram? -

i am intel cpu guy and amd card, best combo -
Nice that they achieved this. But AMD still gets outperfomed by Intel. Bulldozer won't change anything. Let's wait until 2014 when the next generations are released

Btw.
Intel is better for low budget when you use extra graphics cards. Only the graphic chips made by Intel suck.
I like Intel for quality. My old C2D could run Crysis smouthly and my new i5 is undervolted by 25% and still does its job. It even survived 100°C (=212°C) without any damage when the cooler wasn't montaged correctly. -
Kedaamikeda wrote: »But AMD's drivers just plain suck.
Nope. My drivers work fine.
Ive had quite a few people tell me their NVIDIA drivers are messing up. One today actually.It even survived 100°C (=212°C) without any damage when the cooler wasn't montaged correctly.
How the hell did you manage that? -
@Giggle
The thermal compound did touch the CPU just in a single little spot
@Topic
I got an update concerning the world record. During the overclocking only 2 out of 8 cores were active but it still counts. It is still a remarkable perfomance. The overclockers even tested other FX processors from AMD and 8 of them passed 8GHz. -

I've heard a LOT of people that have had problems with AMD, especially with their graphic cards.
And I prefer Intel because of the clockability. -
Both, NVidia and AMD occasionally have driver problems. I needed half a year to find a fitting driver for my old 8800 gts and one of the driver for my HD 5770 didn't like my GPU fan so it tunred it offI've heard a LOT of people that have had problems with AMD, especially with their graphic cards.
