  • Completely not agreeing with Dot, If you can maintain enough money for your family to live, what's the problem? No offense what so ever.

Then that is sad too, that they are exactly where they planned to be - in front of the PC playing games.

I don't see myself sitting at home playing video games when I'm forty.
If that happens, I'd be sad.
Obviously I can only project my feelings.
Whether its sad in someone elses mind or not, is of course up to them just as it is me.

Who said that's the ONLY thing you would do? You're exaggerating this argument to meet your own prejudices, no one here said that you should spend 8+ hours in front of a computer playing. But as a mean of casual entertainment, just like television, then it shouldn't do any harm and shouldn't be the base on how you judge how successfully someone achieved his life and projects.

Your argument just shows you have a narrow vision on what older people should do in their free time. And trust me, chances are you will be playing video games still at 40. Doesn't have to be time-consuming anyway, if you watch TV, read a book or do anything requiring you to be sitting still, then it makes no difference. You'd be still enjoying non-physical entertainment.
  • Thats fine. Your free time at home with nothing better to do. Got in from work. Food done. Children asleep. A few hours on the pc playing video games before bedtime (;)) wouldnt go a miss for me when im 40.

Its when you spend too much time playing video games at 40.. thats when its a problem.
No/Crappy job, not trying in life. Thats the problem I have with people. I share Dot's feelings in that retrospect.. I think thats what he was trying to put out there.

    QFT.

Read again and recognize the fact that thats not what I meant at all.
The brief discussion after that post, pretty much.

Thanks though, your assumptions and faulty conclusions means a lot to me.

Then might I suggest you to make your mind clear to everyone before YOU make assumptions and faulty conclusions yourself first?

I was only reacting to what you first said, no need to get all cute because you made the adjustments afterwards, then call me out on that.

Playing Crossfire with your kids is awesome.

My image of a guy in his forties playing Crossfire is sitting in a dark room in his undies with a gallon of coke.
Thats the image I object to and call sad.
I don't drink Coke. Carry on.
  • Barely any true, self made successful people in life have the time to play video games. Truth hurts right? If you're in your 30's playing video games, chances are you aren't too busy in life.
  • I dont care what age people are in this game as long as they are respectful and nice to others then thats ok with me, i rarely ask anyone their age unless they ask me.

    dot -
Sure there will be some 40 year olds who havent gone far in life and just sit around playing computer games all day... but you narrow mindedness tells you that they are all like this? Well i actually know a few RL people who are 40+ who have good jobs, plenty of money and a family who play video games now and then when they have a spare hour or so and sometimes on sundays if nothing is planned will just relax in front of the computer.... nothing wrong with that.

No, my narrow mindedness (argument) is that I wouldn't want to be one of them and those who are, are sad.

what people who have a good life and still play video games in their spare time is sad.... wow...

I'm not gonna argue with you anyway I've told you what I think of you before now and i cba trying to show you sense when everything you say you think is 100% right :)

You can by all means play after forty.
Just my humble opinion that if you have nothing better to do, you probably didn't end up where you planned to, which is sad.
Few people plan on sitting in front of their PC playing Crossfire instead of playing with their children or doing the wife when they're forty, I'd imagine.

Its not a personal attack, I really don't care who you are or what you do, its just how I would feel and how I do feel.

Video gaming is a hobby, simple as that, so in my humble opinion age is not a restriction to enjoy a hobby.
  • all of the older adults that I've met that play games live in their parents basement.
  • I'd like to disagree with Dot simply because of the Gaming Community on Youtube. They're a kind, helpful community that are awesome. I guess I didn't mention that they are younger than what's Dot's standard of "Sad"..

    But

Would you rather live a rich life or a happy life?
  • all of the older adults that I've met that play games live in their parents basement.

maybe cuz the respectable older people avoid you at all cost for obvious reasons.
  • maybe cuz the respectable older people avoid you at all cost for obvious reasons.

No, I meet some very respectable and highly highly successful people on a daily basis. You don't even have a clue. None of them play video games, not to mention they would look down at any adults that do. People are entitled to their opinions.
  • By that logic the generation that started and supported video gaming to turn out what it is today is sad? People of all ages got the right to play video games. I can't see anywhere on the package saying 3-30 years of age.

I mean I'm not even near the 30's but still, when I'm at job I work at a computer, when I have no clients I can take a bit off my time playing CS, TF or something similar. I can't play LoL at work because I need to finish the game, and if some client comes in the room I can't finish the game (except if I tell him to sit out the room for like 40 minutes).

Some people don't have much work at home and they mostly do their work at their PC in their office. That leaves them with alot of free time, that means time for their hobby/family etcetera.
  • And why wouldn't 40 or 50 year olds still play video games? We are the generation that started them. We are the first people that played them in the late 70's and early 80's from the first days of Pong and Commodore (VIC and PET 20, and C-64), and Atari 2600.

Sounds to me as if Dot needs a little more life experience and is simply jealous he was not around from the start like some of us!!

Proud 41 year old gamer for life!!

Gee dot sry I spend my hard earned time off doing what i enjoy rather than blowing my whole pay in a nightclub trying to impress nobodies that care nothing for me that im cool/>?

And yeh sry but we did invent the games we all play and the culture you are criticizing from within mind you? Along with everything else you enjoy and take for granted. I think Johnny come lately that you are just sick of getting pwned by guys twice yr age.

    Sry son experience does count!

LoL you have just described a hell of a lot of teenagers, the reality is most older players fit this into there lives around there home/work lives and enjoy as a bit of fun , as opposed to the teen sat in his dark room for 8/10 hrs a day drinking gallons of coke an their life passin them by before its even started ... so which is more sad... i just think ur stereo-typical image of older players is just not true.
  • I'm only 14 and i'm realizing time for games slipping away as i have to manage homework and clubs. I guess that means i'm ready to move on in life?
  • Age is irreverent, that's like saying if your over 23 games should be boring to you - It's untrue.

So that is the fun factor dealt with.

The time factor? Well if you are taking care of your sh!!t what is the problem with playing fun games?
  • I do spend a lot of time on Crossfire, but I recently had a foot injury, keeping me from doing anything that any typical teenage boy would do.

So this is the only thing I have to pass the time.

I completely dissagree as most hacks, ragers , and just immature ppl in game are teens who really should be out working hard and having fun ect ect not spending everyday sat playing pc games, but thats his opinion.... what do you guys think ????

    im a rager. im 18. i work 40-50 hours a week.

haha my anger isnt that bad
  • Well I am 56 yrs old, Ret. MSG, U.S. Army MOS: 18C. And I have 4 Kickboxing schools on the Navajo Rez (all free for the kid's). And I think, I maybe the only real pro sniper playing on this game. (been to 4 sniper schools in my military life). I stared play CF because my Son was in Iraq, and we would play online and chat. (he is in the Army) I was playing back in the 70's, and still playing.

I don't see you ass in Iraq [MOD]dot, I was there and my Son and a lot of good Men & Women. Who are you to tell anyone, that they are a sad person over 40 playing games on there PC. Come to my school, I well show you what this 56 can do in the ring.

Oh, and I can't spend time doing it to me wife. She passed away from cancer "NOOB
  • In your life time [MOD]dot, you will never do the thing or been to all the places in the world I have. So don't set there and tell me or anyone what we can or should do kid.

Men like me, go to War to fight the battle's, so cowards like you can stay home with your Mommy kid.

Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country!

So why is your ass not over in Iraq or Afghanistan, not yet a man I see. You think just because you are 21, you are a man.....lol.......what a joke you are sad "Kid"
  • i think that by the time you've reached 40 you should realize that there are better stuff to do, not just spent your time with your kids and do your wife (lold at this part), how many of you thought of doing something good, contributing to society and not by money, there are other ways to do it, u can also spend time with your relatives or go out with your friends, if you still, if u do all that then then there is nothing wrong with a little bit of crossfire

donshark:u need to chill old guy and i am sorry for ur wife and i dont understand this part "I started play CF because my Son was in Iraq, and we would play online and chat. (he is in the Army)"
ur son is in the army playing cf, srsly. if thats true then thats not something you should be proud of, and 'sides the war is over, its was over in 2010 august
  • LOL, I'm 37 so I guess I got 3 more years. My work allows me lot's of free time, Cross fire is what I chose to do with some of it. I ski and scuba dive as well as travel very often. This game started as just a great way to share some good time with my 15 year old son.
Now I have fun with lots of people my own age I have met from all over the world. They have helped with so many things. Like travel arrangements, world culture, business advice and solving computer problems. I think the views of such a young person will change in time.

When I was 14, I thought my father to be a fool. By the time I turned 21. I was amazed at how much he had learned in 7 short years. LOL
Hey Dot, I'll bet you don't think your father's that smart yet. LOL
  • Go to Iraq and see if it is over, 11 died today.
And when my Son has down time, we play on CF with his friends. I don't see you over their.

So now [MOD]dot has a target on people over 40, because of their age....Discrimination.

Oh brutalambush, try going to Thailand if you scuba dive. I go their every year to dive.

wow, you are not responsible enough to be a MOD. I think you left a couple on letters out of your name. i D i OT.

I think it would be better for everyone if you kept your small minded views to yourself.
You are the reason that companies should be careful who they chose to represent them. Just because you say that your opinion is not that of Z8, you are still a MOD selected to represent their best interest. Your not off the hook!!!

Sad that you think it funny to spew your twisted opinions using your MOD account. I hope you are striped of it as you can not see fit to stop abusing the very little power and responsibility that come with it.
