age of CF players ????

First apologies to SRYBUTURNOOB for taking his thread OT, so made this to hopefully continue this debate.
MOD DOT seem to think older players are sad for playing :

Granted the gap is pretty small. When you turn 60 and retire, you're awesome again if you're still playing.
And of course its just my opinion.
I'm not employed by G4Box and my opinion does not reflect the opinion of the company or any subsidiaries or other staff.

I completely dissagree as most hacks, ragers , and just immature ppl in game are teens who really should be out working hard and having fun ect ect not spending everyday sat playing pc games, but thats his opinion.... what do you guys think ????

  • My 50 year old dad plays Xbox 360 more then i touch my computer. Age has no relevance to a game or when you can and can't play.

I have to agree with Dot.
Not sure why. If you can maintain a job support your family and still enjoy video games at that age whats wrong with it?
  • I sent my response in a PM to him. I disagree with his post.
  • the average gamer in this game is about 12-20 yrs old, thats my guess i might be wrong. whats wrong with playing for fun? i mean its not like you're gonna stay on the pc the whole day
  • Haha actually it's fun when ur 50 and u play games, my dad hates crossfire because it's about "weapons" my dad loves GUITAR HERO XD and yeaa im 15
  • And why wouldn't 40 or 50 year olds still play video games? We are the generation that started them. We are the first people that played them in the late 70's and early 80's from the first days of Pong and Commodore (VIC and PET 20, and C-64), and Atari 2600.

Sounds to me as if Dot needs a little more life experience and is simply jealous he was not around from the start like some of us!!

Proud 41 year old gamer for life!!

Got a 45 year old guy from Florida in my clan. Awesome guy. Might not have the reactions of us younger members(I'm 25), but he isn't a bad shot either.

When i was a baby. I remember playing NES with my parents. Super Mario, Galaga, Tetris, Zelda.

  • Idc how old people are if they show respect and are good gamers.
  • I'm also 41 and been playing for about year and a half. I see nothing wrong in after getting home from work or when my daughters is in bed.To play some video games occasionally for a laugh and to unwind a bit.

I also owned a zx81 and zxspectrum.Funny Thinking about how Ultimate "play the game" (games developer 80's who made jetpac, lunarjetman eventually changed name to rare and were bought by microsoft some years back nearly 400million dollars now they only make games for xbox360.

If they still love games why shouldn't we? LOL

An thats the point, when i play IG apart from clan i have no idea who i am playing with so when i get talking to someone i never ask how old they are cos i really couldn't care, i judge ppl on how they behave not how old they are : this is a community game , but you would think communitys stop at age 21 by some ppls reaction when you mention your older than that !.

You can by all means play after forty.
Just my humble opinion that if you have nothing better to do, you probably didn't end up where you planned to, which is sad.
Few people plan on sitting in front of their PC playing Crossfire instead of playing with their children or doing the wife when they're forty, I'd imagine.

Its not a personal attack, I really don't care who you are or what you do, its just how I would feel and how I do feel.
  • Well...
i'd like to be able to play games when i'm 40 .-.
but yeh, too many other more important things to do, like job/kids, if i have them/wife/play with your pets...
    hard decision :x

What's the difference between playing videogames in the evening and watching shows on television? Most older adults enjoy watching cable tv at home after dinner, why being in front of a computer should be any different?

I think the whole concept of videogames = teenage and young adults has to be re-thought, while it was surprising during the late 80s and in the 90s to see an older adult enjoying himself with videogames, it isn't anymore. It is very presumptuous of you to simply assume that they're not where they planned to be based on that, dot.

Then that is sad too, that they are exactly where they planned to be - in front of the PC playing games.

I don't see myself sitting at home playing video games when I'm forty.
If that happens, I'd be sad.
Obviously I can only project my feelings.
Whether its sad in someone elses mind or not, is of course up to them just as it is me.
  • 18 going on 19, already bored of video games. Only reason I still play is to talk to some good friends I made over the years. I dont see anything wrong with oler adults playing, I encourage it. There's way too many annoying ass 8 year olds invading M rated games and if I acted the way they do when I was younger, I'd be missing teeth and in a wheelchair.

Thx DOT for replying, just to say i didn't make this thread just to have a go at you.
It was my kids who got me playing this lol, i had not realy played online games b4, my kids love it when we all play together an i own them :) , there mates all think its cool they have a dad who do stuff like that with them , this game is not my life i just squeeze it in when i can like all the other things in life i do an i guess for the majority of older players its the same , unfortunatly the majority view is if your older an play you must be sad an have no life .. just not true .. if anything more teens should get more of a life than sitting playin this all day an night .. thats more sad than anything ...
  • Playing Crossfire with your kids is awesome.

My image of a guy in his forties playing Crossfire is sitting in a dark room in his undies with a gallon of coke.
Thats the image I object to and call sad.

Some people prefer playing games rather than watching tv.

Thats fine. Your free time at home with nothing better to do. Got in from work. Food done. Children asleep. A few hours on the pc playing video games before bedtime (;)) wouldnt go a miss for me when im 40.

Its when you spend too much time playing video games at 40.. thats when its a problem.
No/Crappy job, not trying in life. Thats the problem I have with people. I share Dot's feelings in that retrospect.. I think thats what he was trying to put out there.
  • Our clan is 25+ with the majority being 30-40 ...if you love doing something when you are 25 why would you stop as you get older? We have great fun gaming it's a great stress reliever..for those with stressful jobs...I have always loved gaming and always will.
