error when starting game

I don't think there is a problem with my internet connection. I have been playing crossfire for a long time before this problem ocurred.

I both tried WiFI and LAN connection and it still persists. As for the firewall, I disabled it and nothing changed. Any other idea?

There might be a way to by-pass this... Try going to Item Mall, click on any random weapon and go to the shooting range... If you do get to the range, then exit out of the range and try a room that is not anywhere near full...

Like a 6/16 room or just a small room like a 2/6. Since there's less traffic between you and the other players, it might be easier to join and then you should be fine with any other room.. Then again this is all just a theory that I did use and worked well most of the time.

not sure if this is your problem, but check this anyways:

right click on the crossfire shortcut, then go to properties. Switch to the compatibility tab.

There you should see a "priviledge level", and it has "Run this program as an administrator" with a checkbox.

Make sure then checkbox is checked, and then hit apply and then OK.

try running crossfire again, if that doesn't work restart your computer and try it again.

if that doesn't work, it says "compatibility mode" in that same place that you went to in the properties.

You want to check the compatibility mode checkbox where it says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

and then select "windows XP service pack 3"

hit apply and then OK

if that doesn't work, try restarting your computer and trying it again.

If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall, and then before you try opening crossfire after you reinstall it, make sure you've:

1. Checked off "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and selected "windows XP service pack 3"

2. checked off "Run this program as an administrator"

always make sure to press apply and then OK.

Try everything here and then tell me what made it work if anything

Problem solved. All I had to do is reboot my modem. Anyway, thanks for your help
