I work for a contractor for the U.S. Government. I have to abide by legal and ethical rules that you most likely do not. I do not care who you are, you will NEVER have access to my PC. You would be welcome to come watch me play at my apartment, and I would show you any information on my system that is relevant to CF, but there is no way in hell I would join a clan that makes it a requirement to install software allowing the clan members to snoop (even if I "know" what they are doing). You use the word trust, but I don't think it means what you think it means.

TV is not efficient. If you suspect cheating... then kick them.
You know as well as anyone who plays cross fire that some hacks are very hard to detect.
Even with replays. I'm not talking about some kid shooting every one at the start of a game.
1 shot kill and even aim bot or speeding are easy to see.
There are hacks that are made not to show so bad. They are aimed at giving a player the advantage, not making them indestructible. This is what we are looking for. It's better to check than kick a talented player for suspicion.
P.S. Are you aware that GM Saidin uses TV to check for program errors in clients computers, He used it to check 55upperMarios cross fire folders less than a month ago. Finally they issued him a new client number to fix an in game problem he was having? -
brutalambush wrote: »You make a good point. I can only say that when we had a smaller number of players I felt the same way. I only tried finding a solution once I had been sadly disappointed by people that I had trusted. Some of the people in my clan are real life friends, but now that the clan has grown many I have only met in game. I think that if any thing the chance that they may be team viewed discourages people who use hacks from joining our clan. I say our because the LTs in clan act as co-leaders and all decisions are talked about and agreed upon. Including the use of team viewer. Just the idea that everyone was in agreement helped add lots of trust between us.
I have 70 members in my clan, that has taken time and i get to know them , and i trust them all not to hack, that works for us, your clan your choice how to run it, but i as many ppl seem to be saying is that i would not trust anyone i don't personally know to look in my pc, and deffenatly not for a pc game no matter how much i love it.. -
Have you tried UAC3?
Its pretty good, works really good in game ( dont make you lagg ).
I can accept TV cause i`ve nothing to hide but many guys plays on their parents comp or laptop and maybe they dont want to be scanned by a guy they dont even know ( parents not players
)

Im well aware of that. But if you cant tell from the gameplay of someone that they are cheating then you need a bit more common sense. Its pretty obvious if someone is walling and they are trying will all their might to hide it. But its always the same telltale signs..
Staring at a corner and waiting for them to cross it. A cheater wont give a player the chance by aiming somewhere off the distance and they quckly snap to them as they cross it. Its too risky and they will wait there until they come.
Always going in the direction of the opposing team. One team may go to B site one round, then A the other. Usually they will follow them even if they change from their regular pattern.
Also, how many people do you see run across the map with their knife out as if they are 100% sure they wont be shot? You'll see people run with their knife out surely.. but I dont see many people fling around corners holding a knife... as if they knew noone was there.. and then take out their weapon as they approach the last corner with their target.
No I wasnt... since that isnt what Saidin does. He doesnt bother spending time looking at some kids computer for cheats. Hes even agreed with me thats its quick and easy to delete them... be teamviewed and look clean only to redownload them.
A new client number? How on earth can you be issued a new client number?! -
Teamviewer is a great tool, make helping someone troubleshoot their pc or some1 helping u on ur pc become so much easier than before. No doubt about that.
You can configure the security and choose what you allow the other person can do and cant do after the connection been made. So you in full control if u know wat u doing.
Anyway, I still wouldn't go to that extra effort just for a game. Not our job to prevent, stop some1 going to cheat. But hey, it your clan, ur choice how to run it. -
Look guys I respect your opinions. And I understand how some people may be gaming on the same computer that they have sensitive information on. They would not want anyone to team view their computer, even if they can see the whole thing taking place. However most people in this game are either young and/or they have a gaming computer set up to play online games. I do not wish to invade any ones personal files or information. We are not out to start a new world order of big brother knowing all you do. LOL
I am just saying that all the accusations and secret belief that fellow clan mates hack has stopped. Of course before any one is asked to be team viewed, replays have been watched and agreed upon that there is a problem. Every clan leader has heard the same story about lag or spiking, 300 fps and all the rest. This is just a suggestion for the people looking for 1.
I do not think it should be the law or forced upon anyone. We as a group decided to try Team viewer and I find it helped. -

NICE, LOL I want it for my clan tag.
YOU KNOW!!!
MOD iceman is holding a comp, you should sent it to him. I was talking with him tonight and I think he would get a kick out of this. Plus who knows, If he uses it you could win 10K zp. -
I would not let somebody I don't know irl to go through my computer. If teamview only let them see what I see then that would be an option, however I'm not sure how useful this would be since I don't know how hacks work.
You said something about not being allowed to log off until you teamview them, does that mean they can't turn off the hacks unless they're out of the game? If that's true and they could only see what I see then I would let them teamview me while I was still logged on to crossfire. -
Hell no dude u want some random stranger to look up ur personal things on ur pc of course ppl will no.
This^I won't let a stranger take a look in my computer, it's personal. And hiding hacks is so easy. Easily you can compress the folder that has the hacks in a .rar file with some usless name. And you would never think I have hacks in such a file.
This^brutalambush wrote: »They can end the session at any time.
Well but if someone ends the session he looks even more suspicious too you and then he could still hack and u dont know about it >.> -
Most hacks require that people log into cross fire from the hack provided loading page. So yes if they stay logged in it's sitting on their desk top and even if the minimize it you can find it in their task manager, in running applications. Very easy and for some reason they never think that someone would look there. Takes 30 sec. and has nothing to do with personal files.
so if they don't log out of game they're busted. Or often even if they have time to delete the files or change the name. The original zip file will still be in their download folder. It's good to look in the trash bin folder as well. Many times they forget to empty it in a rush.
I would completely understand some one ending the session due to some one trying to look at personal information. And normally any one offering access to team viewer has nothing to hide and no session would take place. You can tell what if someone has something to hide by their reaction. Most of the time the guys end up watching them spin crates for fun, LOL The idea is, with nothing to hide than there's nothing to worry about. -

Not true
Most hacks, mostly known the public one's are just
Easy all in one made exe you put it in your cf folder and your start it.
Or you start a injecting programme that injects a file in the game.
Nothing with opening a site etc!
But I think you mean a VIP-ish hack needs to connect to the internet to give you permission to use the programme!
Even with VIP heckz the can start the hack halfway there gameplay.
and let it inject in crossfire....
How I know? I do my research
P.s people can easily compress these files and hide them in different locations with passwords that only the can access them.
and for the process part the hack process's hide it self or just gets a name that looks like a windows service and you will miss that easily!
So really I find this kind of pointless...
Even if you make a clan rule for this basically your trust is build only thru teamviewer!
with each other
Backstabbing would be easier than hacking
-
The thing is most guys who get kicked for hacking will hide the game hack but leave a hack for free zp on the desk top. For me stealing and hacking come from the same motivation, greed. We reported them and kicked them from clan. But just the idea that they thought it ok to use a ZP hack led me to look deeper to find the in game hack. By the way no matter what you might rename a file to hide it, if you hold the mouse over the file it will give you the file information and type of file that it is. You don't even need to open it. And personal document files will never be found in Z8 program files or the cross fire folder in it. If you see a file that don't belong it's a good place to start looking.
While using Team viewer you can open your own cross fire folder, place the 2 side by side and compare.
If you do this be careful. Some people use game modes for sounds and kill marks. They may not match your own but they are not a hack. It only changes the way the game appears to them. -

Very good point, I have 2 teenage children who use my computer to check their FB and even play cross fire. They can check out sites as well but we have a house rule that they are not to download any thing with out my permission. In such a case I would feel confident in their parents supervision regarding internet use. I think any parent that pays attention would not allow a child to download a hack. For our clan however most members are adults. And the kids we do have are related family members of an adult player in the clan. Our clan rules are generalized, and in any special cases for this reason or perhaps do to sensitive information. We would be very understanding. Just the fact that someone would take the time to explain their situation makes it worth finding a solution. -
Just wanna know, how many ppl did u already catch with this special way of scrutiny?
I dont think hackers are that stupid to leave their hack open or in some obvious folders.
We have Kicked and reported 8 people using team viewer.
And most hackers are not very smart. The team viewer check is just a way of making sure not to kick an innocent player. It is not used to police players. We would never do just a random check. When someone is accused of hacking it gives them a way to defend themselves. With the hack problem being what it is, some times people get paranoid and make false accusations.
It just turned out that the people who we kicked had been under suspicion. After reviewing replays we asked them about a team view session. They agreed because they thought the their hack was well hidden. Turns out they are not as good at hiding things as we are at finding them. I am lucky enough to have some computer programers in our clan. They are very good at what they do, and we have all group team viewed to learn where and what to look for. -
This.I'd leave any clan that demanded I do something in any way linked to my personal life.
This is a game.
Having someone rifling through my files or begging for personal information is unacceptable.
Well, for me at least. For some, being in a special clan is more important than privacy.
law48
And I don't know. I use my computer for EVERYTHING. I honestly don't want people online finding anything more than my name, and not even my FULL name, and the state where I live.
I don't want people to even have the SLIGHTEST curiousity to my personal stuff.
I'm legit. Always been. I'm in BUD... Though I'm not THAT involved.
And I don't know if I can go through with this. -

He clearly stated all he does is check your current running client of cf and browse through your cf folder. If you got passwords or other confidentials on your computer you aren't hiding them well anyways. Dirty pictures of your girlfriend? Who cares he will only see it once and never meet her. God willing he finds your porn stash, might as well share.
I see it as more to clear up a legit player than to find a cheater, but when cheaters are found then you have proof. -

Thank God, My faith in intelligent life on earth has been restored.
Yes it is nice to see that some people still read and understand a post for what it is.
I don't know if you play cross fire or your rank but you are the kind of person we welcome with arms open. The point of posting this tread was to offer an option. A way for talented players to defend themselves from the accusations they face on a daily basses. -
i dont think anyone really understands that there is 3 i repeat 3 places where u would look for ha..cks
1. desktop
2. downloads
3. crossfire folder
so unless your downloading p0rn your not going into any places where personal information is. im in brutals clan im a LT i have team viewed people and everyone has teamviewer downloaded apon entry so all they need to say is the id and pass there is not enogh time to uninstall a ha..ck and remove from download erase the zip. file and remove from crossfire folder if it takes u more then 10 seconds to tell me the info i no your hiding something all of u ecspecially giggletron and dot your purposly looking for the negatives in this your finding every little thing wrong just to try and prove brutal wrong but this is effective it works and maybe u guys should stop acting like little kids and grow up, ty good bye. -

I have no problem with a MOD or any one else pointing out what they may think is a negative. The reason being that it leads to making an idea better and it's great publicity for what I believe is a good solution to not kicking innocent players from a clan because of an accusation of hacking.
At the same time it works for catching, kicking and reporting hackers. Getting and keeping this game clean of hackers is important to me. I will continue to do what I can to improve the situation. Yes I would prefer support from the staff here, but I will continue to find ways and develop ideas through trial and error on my own. -
I wouldn't do so either. You don't have a family. You created a surveillance state in your own clan

well, it depends, if his pc has nothing important, except c.f game, and internet browser
and non important software, non important document, videos etc.
then why not?
most ppl have more than 1 computer/ laptop.
my gaming pc has only c.f installed, they can look into my pc, and my po.rno lol.
i dont care., if they haak me, i just pull the plug and put in my norton ghost backup disc..
all back to normal within 15min.
