Hmm... why no one considered something like, making x-trap coders tighten up CF's coding? =o
idk if it's possible or not but would become in-handy after a while, since it would take more time to the hackers to bypass the defenses fo the game .-.
but yeh, i'm not a supah coder to know what we can do or not, the only other sollution i would have is to take legal measures against people who cheat, but that would be blocked by the differences in between international laws
Recoding the engine to be more secure would be the same as making a new game from scratch.
Back in the days where Game Guard was the Anti-hack, anyone could use whatever hacks they wanted with nothing stopping them. X-trap is doing a good job and minimizing the types of hacks, but the main problem is there are a LOT of people who are using the hacks.
40,000+ hackers using 2-3 types of hacks looks a lot worse then 1,000+ hackers using 30+ types of hacks.
But in the end X-trap won't be able to stop the hacking by itself for 1 simple reason.
All it's data is on the clients computer, making it easy to access for the hack makers. -

that's a huge fail by the x-trap personel

Not really, nearly all Anti-hacks are on the clients computer. X-trap has a good track record .
The problem is that a anti-hack isn't a solution to the problem, its a control device to keep the problem manageable.
To stop major hacking you need to either make hacking not worth the risk or remove the reason to hack. -

reson to cheat: the majority of the cheaters are saddistic bt@rds, so, there's not really much we can do here...
hacking not worth: maybe a clausule on the contract that allows z8games to give harder punishments towards the cheater?
but again, internatiuonal laws get in the way

It really wouldn't make much of a difference if they recoded the game. Once the front door is kicked open, it's basically open house until they get a new door.
Recoding would only be a speed bump.

Edit; Just to be clear here because I don't want to see "MOD SAID THEY JUST HAVE TO RECODE THE GAME TO GET RID OF HAKS-threads": Recoding the game is not an option.

Well what I meant to say before I rushed to my 3 PM lecture was that, yes it would change, but it would only slow them down. Once they found an exploit, its anyone's guess as to how fast it would spread.
3k!

Well two years ago, we never had that many hackers with GameGuard.
Yes we had hacking ghost with weapons, that just made the game some what fair.
A lot of glitchers, and throwing knife hacks. I can live with the way it was.
But we never had this many hackers, as we did before. Before I could play 20 games, and only see 2 or 3 hackers that night. Now it's 2 or 5 hackers per room. (BR's)
And on top of all this, all the QQing we have now. I was never called a hacker before, or having someone kick me because I was not a BR. Or someone calling me a farmer, or not kicking hackers out of the game. Oh, by the way. BR's will not kick Brother BR's, even if they are Hacking in the game......some kind of BR code.
Yes GG sucked, but XTap sucks the big one! It is 100x worse now. Before you could play, now to can't.
You're clueless, did you ever play crossfire when they used GameGuard? It was terrible, be grateful for what you have now, the hacks were so much worse in 09' and the beginning of 2010, and although most have 200+ pings doesn't instantly make them BR's. Stop judging an entire ethnic group based off of a the constant forumers flaming statements. -

And Brazilian is a nationality, not an ethnic group. -

Sorry, had to do some yardwork. Back now.
By make it not worth it, I meant as in the risk to lose the account. But because Crossfire is a Free to play game and hackers don't usually put a investment in their accounts, they never care about losing the accounts. so they make new ones whenever they get banned. The only thing that they lose is time spent on the account. Plus its easy to get around a IP ban (I can do it with what comes standard on windows OS), so their back to hacking in minutes.
For the reason one, lets review why people hack.
The three leading reasons to resort to hacking are...
1: Wants to win.
2: Wants revenge.
3: Wants to have fun.
(There are more, but these 3 are the most common)
Next, which group has the highest amount of obvious hackers in it. (Obvious hacks being ones like 1 hit kill, shooting through walls, speeding, and aimbots)
I have been writing the names and pings down of players with obvious hacks since last December, at 867 names now and 682 of those have pings higher then 150+. On that list there is only 43 with less then 80 ping with obvious hacks.
So why such a huge difference between the number of High ping hackers and low ping hackers? The answer is low pings have less reason to hack.
Reason 1: Wants to win.
With a ping of less then 80 its very easy to maintain a 1.0+ KDR against the average player these days, and with practice they can easily make ace. So since there already winning, why hack to win more?
Reason 2: Wants revenge.
This one has been growing recently for low ping hackers, this past month I've recorded 19 less then 80 ping obvious hacks. This one is most likely increasing because of the low ping players seeing nothing being done to stop the hacking and hack to get revenge on the hackers.
Reason 3: Wants to have fun.
Like previously said, Low pings are have a easier time doing well in this game. So this one usually happens when a player gets bored with CrossFire and wants to spice it up.
Another factor is if a low ping (NA) player doesn't have fun in the game they can simply leave for other MMO games out their. The massive player quitting between April and July proved that NA players will leave a game for other games rather then resort to hacking if they don't have fun with the game.
High ping player by contrast would have a harder time just maintaining a positive KDR.
Harder to win or do well = less fun.
Not understanding how ping works = thinks others hack.
So the ones that can't handle losing resort to hacking. And the ones that think that low pings hack (not understanding how ping works) resort to hacking to get revenge.
Now we have a Demand for hacks.
Before hack makers just made hacks to show they could, as a way of showing off their skills with programing and shared them with others. Now that there is a Demand for hacks, some hack makers got smart and started selling them for money. With a large customer base to support them, most hack makers now make hacks for CF for a living. Once you have focused hack makers trying to bypass your Anti hacks, the anti hack starts losing its effectiveness.
The hack makers are always focused on bypassing or making the anti hack useless so they can sell their hacks. And since A copy of the Anti hack comes with the client for crossfire, it doesn't take long for them to crack it open and start studying it. With access to the anti hack and its previous versions, when a new patch comes out it doesn't take long for them to by pass it.
So we have a large number of people wanting hacks.
We got Hack makers taking advantage of the situation and selling hacks.
Since the hack makers now make more then enough to cover living expenses they focus on making hacks and by passing the anti hack 24/7.
The anti hack can only update once they have 1: find out there is a new hack. 2: get a copy of the hack. 3: study it and find out how it works. 4: design a counter to it.
The hack makers automatically get the new version of the anti hack delivered to them whenever it updates. With the data from previous versions they can find out quickly what has changed, and then find a way around it.
X-trap is facing a losing battle.
And the major cause of this chain of events?
High ping players flooding into a game they couldn't compete in and rather then leave they look to cheat instead. -

High Pings are both more likely to hack and have the most hackers.
Lots of people looking for hacks leads to hack makers making money selling hacks.
Hack makers focus on making money selling hacks, so spend more time making hacks.
X trap can't keep up with these now focused hack makers making hacks. -

Actually hacking is illegal even if its a game
so z8 has the right to sue anyone who advertises hacking software that potentially harms the website -

There was a thread about it before. I believe one of the mods explained that the hosts of the hacking websites have nothing to do with the public making hacks and posting them on there. If the hosts were to be sued they would simply say it was for educational purposes and in a way it is because it takes a good amount of brains and no morals to create a hack. Unless they make a ZP hack they cannot sue them because it does not affect their profits directly. Again, I got this from a thread with posts by a mod a while back so I don't remember the names. :]
