The best Headset for CF?
Ok folks, I'm tired of those sneaky ghosts stabbing me in the behind because I can't hear where they are at exactly, or that dude with the M60/AK is blowing my eardrums out with my current Headset... So I need something better!
I've looked at Turtle Beach, Astro, Razer and Triton for suggestions, but I cant decide, I have no experience with anything that was more than 30 bucks, cause well I thought all headsets are the same! Boy I guess I'm wrong...
Price isn't a concern, I'd prefer wireless, but if its a big loss in quality to do that then I can live without it (however I move around a lot when I'm on the PC answering the phone/door/ raiding the fridge and whatnot while still talking on vent, I don't want something that the wire will break eventually on me and I'm out the whole headset, lost too many good headsets that way).
So some suggestions or experiences would be really helpful... Thanks in advance!

Well if someone is using a m60 and is spraying it doesnt matter which headset you use bro you wont hear the ghosts. -

Actually, with the A40 or XP5 it appears you can adjust sounds so you can do just that (still hear the breath during a spray) and even if you can't you can adjust those so they protect your hearing and dont't blow out your ears when someone sprays a loud gun.
But like I said I have no experience with these Headsets and I'm just going off reviews I Googled so I could be wrong. -

The Razer Carcharias just missed out on an award when we looked at it for the first time a year ago, losing out to the Creative Sound Blaster Arena. The latter has unfortunately been discontinued, with Creative releasing new Sound Blaster headsets which we'll be looking at in the very near future.
The Carcharias is practically the same headset as the much more expensive Megalodon - they have the same headband and cups, both have 40mm drivers and the same stated frequency response range. The main difference is the inline remote as the Carcharias has simple volume and microphone adjustment where as the Megalodon has the Maelstrom Audio Engine - essentially an external 7.1 channel sound card. The latter is also connects via USB while the Carcharias uses standard 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks at the end of a 3m braided cable.
Comfort-wise, the Carcharias is on par with the best headsets, with its circumaural ear cushions providing a perfect fit which doesn't squish your head. They do leak a little sound, but only at high volumes, a price that's worth paying for such epic comfort.
In games the Carcharias produced a superb range of throaty bass tones whilst giving our ears a good workout with clear mid- and high-tones too. Music was fantastic overall, with riffs that were clear and rich from top to bottom, although on occasions it did lack the booming base of other headsets we've seen recently.
Movies were much the same story, although the Carcharius did claw some ground back here with its brilliant range in the low-end with clear and discernible differences. This made listening to the booming cannon fire and explosions in the Master and Commander ship battle scene we used for testing a real pleasure.
Conclusion
If you've got a decent sound card and want the best gaming headset to plug into it, the Carcharias is our firm favourite. The Crarcharias doesn't have a booming bassline, but deals with low-level bass sounds in a more sophisticated way which isn't lacking in punch. It's extremely comfortable to wear too, an important consideration for lengthy gaming sessions.- Sound Quality

steelseries 5h v2's are good as well.. i believe I read somewhere that they are used a lot in tournies (don't quote me on that). I use these and I don't even have them up half way and I can hear ghosts (but i think i have a nice sound card as well though)

and to be honest ive heard that a lot of people say they use those gummy earbuds for cf and are able to hear ghosts, but yet again those some people could have nice sound cards...
furthermore, ive heard that the usb siberia sound card from steelseries works well with non-usb headsets.

Yes, you must have a excellent sound card. There isn't much point buying a top gaming headset and not having a good sound card it just won't preform as well as it should... -
Well tempzzz I saw that Headset review, the only problem I have with that review is that article is almost 2 years old and there appears to be much better Headsets out there now... at least from what I can gather from more current information. I'd like to know how those stand up to XP5's or A40's.

In my experience with gaming gear?
Razer is completely over rated with the exception of the Deathadder, the only good product that Razer can be proud of. All of their headsets are easily breakable compared to other headsets on the market.
For headsets, go for SteelSeries, if not, try to find something online that is durable. I use the Tactic3D Alpha, which is a massive headset, but is very light and durable. I might switch out for some SteelSeries Siberias, but I can hear anything and everything with my current headset [it's surround sound; even though CF isn't surround sound].
I'd go for SteelSeries. -

Ok i looked at the review, and it seems... ok.
Nothing really stood out to me like the reviews did for Astro's or Trittons though... I gotta ask tho what the heck was up with that youtube link, I got 30 seconds into it and decided the vid and its unappealing music had nothing to do with Headsets ;p -

Its predecessor was the #1 headset for cs for many years straight. The V2 is still a popular choice when it comes to fps games. Im not sure if it's the number choice as of right now, because of the competitors in gaming headsets, but it is a relatively inexpensive headset, with superior sound quality.
The video...eh...everytime I do well in GM and people start h@ckusating me, I macro the beast mode chorus. Seems very appropriate for the occasion. -
I use the Steelseries Siberia neckband and it works pretty well. I hear Turtle Beaches are real nice too. But my sony headphones work alot better for some reason... setback is, no mic on it. Apparently bass has something to do with it because I can hear ghost breath alot better with the Sony Extra Bass headphones (don't know model name, bought a year ago)
