Buds inside headsets?

I've seen some footage of people playing in huge tourneys who when they take off their headset, they take that off then take buds out. Can anybody explain what the purpose of having earbuds and a headset would be? Or explain what this is if I'm wrong?

correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe you're thinking of ear muffs over ear phones. That way it shuts out -- outside noise, ie. commentators. I've yet to see it in any other type of games besides RTS.

Ear buds are used for listening to music, people sometimes use it when they already have won an are ****y enough to listen to music instead of in game noise
