I'm using a laptop with a FX go5200 and I get acceptable framerates. It might help if you post your specs as well as what type of internet service you have.

im using comcast internet service.

1 gig RAM
pentium 4- 3ghz
8 gig memory
system-windows xp

anything else?

Thats pretty similar to my system. Are you on a wireless router? That sometimes leads to packets getting dropped which creates lag. It could also just be the route between your computer and the servers.

yes, im using a linksys wireless-g router, 2 laptops use it aswell. and im sort of far, not too far away from canada (pennsylvania)

I had ping spikes with that wireless router. All i had to do is disable the WZC in Control panel-administrative tools- services and then no problem at all!

You should give it a try!

Well i had this problem too a while ago and i Google Searched it alot. And everyone was saying to disable that Service so i did and it worked! Give it a try and if it doesnt work, well just enable it back!

it worked a little bit, took about half of my lag away, or atleast what i noticed. i still get lag spikes when playing, just not as many, i think? maybe i was just having a lucky session.

Make sure if your not the only one using the connection, that they are not downloading anything because utorrent or whatever increase the lag and lag spikes. Also make sure that your connection is encrypted to make sure neighbors or roomates are not stealing your internet and stealing all the bandwith.

i know one of the laptops are being used a majority of the time, but they never really download anything.

im just so confused =( i want my lag spikes to go bye bye lol.

Even if Limewire or Utorrent is in the taskbar and he's not downloading, it it still using bandwith...try playing with ANY other pc turned off.

Yeah, please don't bump. Check out http://www.broadbandreports.com/ and run their tweak test. It will tell you if you need to optimize your internet settings or not.
