That means your pc is infected by a virus. and has infected files on your system.
that would explain why your IE is not working.
Avast has a boot up scan that means it will scan your system when it starts up that is one of the best scanning methods for viruses:
When it finds a virus, chose for move all to chest
after that is done reinstall cf.
And if you can go to the chest and take a screenshot of all the viruses it found. and post it here!
Than maybe I can find more info on what kind of viruses you were infected with. -

thanks u for ur advice , i've did this scan & got no viruses , so put in windows' cd & repaired it , now everything is ok with progs (like xfire & ym) but i've this problem with every single online game i own :
when i click its icon (cf) :
then when i click on :
btw : i've removed old cf & have just downloaded latest client from the site , but still having this problem

After what you done so far. it really makes me think.... that your windows it self is damaged + the CD maybe from ageing or scratches or it's some cracked version of windows that gives problem.
I suggest, you reformat the whole thing. and get a better version of XP...
TPB; look there for some good versions(Higher the seeds the better it is mostly). if you got a key than all you need is the software -
