Game News

Urban Warfare is still here. Hasn't gone anywhere. We here at UW have been quite busy with a lot of internal changes. Some of these changes have now come to light in the form of new IP Restrictions for users outside of our licensing region.

In the Game News section today we're going to talk about these changes in some official detail and what it means to our users, and hopefully answer some of the questions that have arisen from this change.

First off, every user who has made an account and played on the Z8Games portal NA/UK Version of Cross Fire will still be able to continue to play Cross Fire on our version. These new changes do not affect your accounts.

This does mean however that if your account were to become banned, closed, stolen etc. That you may not be able to make a new account and play on our servers. You will have to find a way to get that account back, or settle the issue that has it blocked. This is a good reminder to tell everyone NEVER to give out your Z8Games information (or any account information) to anyone. Only use official www.z8games.com websites to log in. And please do not fall for free zp scams from other websites!


So now we know that your accounts are still there! There was no need to panic after all! What does this mean for the future?

All Versions of Cross Fire will be implementing IP restrictions for new users. Cross Fire is developed for a Global Market, but regionally published. This means companies have to acquire licenses in order to host servers and service for the game, receive updates and generally run the game you have come to expect. The service for Z8Games will not change. You can still expect the same level of community, service, promotions and events that you have come to expect from us. Additionally, we are still receiving content and the game will remain with its regular updates. New content is being discussed as this is being typed and we hope that you enjoy the next awesome update we have planned in conjunction with the content delivered by the Developers.

This also means that our UK licenses remains intact. Our servers in the UK are not stopping, and will not stop throughout all of this. That means our UK players will be able to enjoy the same things that we have been able to deliver over these last 3 years.


Additionally, we'll talk a little bit about why and how these IP restrictions came to light. The IP restrictions were issued by Smilegate and their Managing company Neowiz. The relationship between those 2 companies and any publisher of Cross Fire is complicated and based largely in legalities and copyright names. Most stuff that users don't need to concern themselves with.

The end result however is that the IP restrictions were based on the legal licenses of the games. They were not implemented because we (or any company) wanted to close off the game to a certain group of people. Or in some attempt to eliminate hacking, or lower pings.

Eliminating hacking and improving our servers is something we work on on a daily basis. And has nothing to do with the IP restrictions that were implemented to the game. Understanding this fact will go a long way in easing some frustrations and assumptions that a lot of people in this community made.

And finally, G4Box acquired the license for South America. We did this because we recognize the large number of fans from this region. Not because we want to segregate hackers from non hackers or in some sort of discriminatory move. We cannot announce the details of our plans at this time. Everyone will have to be patient for this. But know that South America is a great home for Cross Fire and we can't wait to share our final details and plans when they are ready for it! Please try to be patient with this, further questions regarding this area will just be met with this kind of response.


So in Summary:

Your game accounts made before August 3rd, 2011 will be fine to play no matter where you are from.

Our UK Service and Servers will not be stopping.

We still intend to bring to you great events, promotions and content updates that you have come to expect from us and our version.

IP Restrictions were not a design decision. They are based on the Global Licenses of Cross Fire.

We have the license for South America and we intend on introducing service and servers there, however we do not have any more to say on this issue at this time.

Additional CF Features Coming!

We here at Z8Games have been hard at work on some new features for Cross Fire and our Z8Games website! We want to increase the enjoyment and competitiveness of the Cross Fire Clan Servers. And we intend on doing that by making clan matches count for something!

The first step in this process is going to be tracking wins and losses from clans based on their current Clan Point ranking system. We're working on some added bonuses for Clans when they face off against the competition on the Clan Server!

This will also be the first step to working on a skill ranking system (which will be included in addition to the Clan Point rankings) which can be used for seasons/ladders and other competitive events!

We are also working on what we are calling an event page. This is a place where you can go to check your status on events. There will be some limitations on this such as the amount of times you will be able to check, however our goal is to try and give you something that you can use to see your progress when we do events like theme weeks or patch weekends etc. We'll have a beta version of this for some testing on some events coming soon so stay tuned!

We've got more Ribbons, More Events, More Updates and More Content, so stay tuned to our website for updates on all the great stuff coming in the next few weeks!

After reading hundreds of entries and some awesome stories we are coming to the end (finally) of our Fan Writing Contest! We're very humbled by the amount of entries that we received and the number of entries that were legitimate and great stories. We only have room for 1 story this time, however we've got these on file and if you see your story ever appear you can be guaranteed that you will also win the coveted RF Writer Prizes!
