Would Crossfire ever?..

  • Yes I have, I know C++. It's not hard. And it definitely doesn't take money to code, except maybe to pay your workers.

then do it yourself if you know how to .-.

    1. You buy a Mac laptop. You want to buy a mouse, like you would if you bought a PC laptop. You go to Best Buy and buy a two button mouse. Ta Da! Apple does sell one button mice, but that doesn't mean you have to use them. Do you have to use a Microsoft MP3 player with your PC? No. I use my IPod with it.

2.So who cares if you wouldn't. This isn't "Would you buy a Mac if Crossfire could run on a Mac?" This is would Crossfire ever run on a Mac, without extra software.

    3. When someone says purely "VMware does work." it's kind of misleading, don't you think?

    1. I do not need a mac laptop, nor want one. Quit saying that. I'm perfectly
happy with the pc's that I have built (Which by the way, play crossfire and
every other game that I have thrown at them with out the need of virtualization.)

    2. Lot's of people care what I do with my money. The thread topic is "Would
crossfire ever make a version for mac?" Please stay on topic. The answer is no.

    3. Yup especially when I replied to another's reply to me when he said purely
"VMware does not work" and I followed up with "don't you mean VMware
does not work with crossfire now as it did. I then said in retort "VMware
does work" to correct his statement.

    4. Please do follow and keep up with the conversation and it's history if you
want to discuss it before trying retort my comment. Ty.

    5. Are you tired of butting in on my conversation yet or do you want to
continue acting like a buffoon in front of me for my enjoyment?
  • Wait a minute, at least the Mac comes with a mouse, if I remember correctly you have to buy one for a PC in the first place, so don't complain about that!

All the deals I looked at the mall today for pc's include a two button mouse + scroll wheel. Some with even more fancy mice.

All I saw that is coming with those mac desktops at the mall were one button mice. The replacements are outrageously overpriced too. lololol

I compared the hardware components of pc and the macs.

Now my question is why on Earth would anyone pay double for a mac
when you can get the same specs in a pc for half the money + warranty
that will play games without having to run virtualization software?

Someone obviously cannot understand. It's not worth trying any more. Bye.

I don't know why anybody buy's a Mac from apple because you can build your own for $800. And the operating system is only $30, which is $90 less than Windows.

Well, at the mall I went to today the store that sells the apple computers has
everything double the price as the same spec equivalents at the other stores
    that sell pc stuff.

I'm not sure what you are saying.
An 800 dollar apple machine = a 400 dollar windows pc.

    That's what I saw today.

No, of course Apple sells their stuff for extremely overpriced prices, but that's NOT a Mac vs Windows debate. That's an Apple vs anybody else that sells PC debate.

http://www.hackintosh.com/ This link might show you what I mean. You just buy the compatible hardware and install the OS on it. Same price as a Windows PC.

Hmmm. Very interesting Watson! I'm looking at that. Thanks for sharing it.
I found this link on the hackintosh site. http://www.insanelymac.com/osx86db/search?category=4.

That's supposed to be a list of all the compatible equipment that is on the
market now to build your own mac.

It looks like only the old tech and parts are compatible with it.
If that's the case, then ya, sure you could build an extremely cheap
mac using old stuff. But it's still not going to run crossfire or a lot of
other games without some sort of virtualization.

Now it's back to step 1. With a cheap apple computer. LoL

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against apple. I still have a
commodore64 and an Apple IIc I bought in 1985-86. I still have a D&D game
that I play on it occasionally. I have 1 Linux server here in my den also.
And I have kept all my old pc's as the years have past and either turn them into
dual boot boxes running different flavors of Linux and windows to do various
tasks and have given them away.

Never have I needed a mac or apple to do any of my chores that an
equivalent program either closed or open source wasn't available for
Windows or Linux to make me switch to a mac as my primary os.

I was always under the impression that owning a mac for a home computer
was the equivalent of someone using AOL as their internet provider.
Kinda locks you into their proprietary stuff for a low nominal monthly fee
if you want to do anything with it. LoL.
I tend to stay away from scams like that.

If I'm going to play online games, I'm going to build or buy a computer
that has support for what I want to do.(I.E. Windows PC)
Sorry. Macs and apples and commodores are just not supported by most of
todays game's designers and engineers and their associated companies.

I'm pretty sure an i series processor works, I know for sure the i7 does but, on one of the list there is an Intel core 2 quad Q6600 which isn't bad at all. The graphics cards on the Hackintosh website weren't too bad, but I don't know the last time it was updated. I found a guy who got an HD 5750 working, Gtx 480's and 460's. So it's not old hardware at all.

Of course you aren't going to be gaming on Mac OS, but still it's a nice OS that's very secure and stable. I don't actually own a Mac or have Mac OS X installed ;)
  • there are millions people use mac but when it comes to play cf that number just drop below 100.
  • Wait a minute, at least the Mac comes with a mouse, if I remember correctly you have to buy one for a PC in the first place, so don't complain about that!

lots of prebuilt PCs comes with mice.
    if not most actually.
Lawl, hundreds of thousands of dollars recoding the game? I highly doubt it would cost nearly that much.

I highly doubt it wouldn't cost more, I was being conservative.

It will never be financially responsible to create a Mac version.
Even if it costs 20 000, they're still such a small user base that it would take a long time (too long time) to see the money again.
  • dam this is why mac users have a bad name, talking to topic maker.
If you really want to play on the OS X just use parallel desktop.

    p/s: what I use.

He was just asking if crossfire ever gonna be able to run on mac, without bootcamp. You guys, on the other hand, started a flame war mac vs windows when you obviously know anything about it. Pathetic.

lol. Yeah I was going to comment earlier but that was when the spark of the flame war started so I stayed away instead of trying to speak logically.... xD

Why buy mac, if you know you cant play cf with it?
Its like you buy a boat instead of a car, you know you arent going to drive with it to work.

    _____________
  • Alright, finish; No, won't happen.
Dualboot or get a PC if you want to play Crossfire fluently.
