echo 8 was never meant for " good players to come pub "... it's a place where people set up 5v5 scrims. The only reason pubs started happening was because people would play FFA while waiting for teams to come around. Mainly because back then there where only like 7 teams that went to echo 8... finding a scrim was rare... usually you would sit in clan server channel 6, 8 or 10 to find a 5v5 scrim... send 1 guy to echo 8 and go from there...
if your looking for a place to find good pubs, I wouldn't suggest echo 8 as a place to find it.
and why would you ever join a pub expecting not to see zp characters, or " overpowered guns"
this is crossfire get use to it.
if tomorrow wogl allowed spop you would have no issue with it. Just like nobody had a issue with the character when it first came out in the NA version in pubs or clan server.
Stop crying and comming up with excuses why you fail in pubs.
Better yet, stop crying about a " f2p " game needing a source of income. -
why would it matter since you're using locked rooms for scrimming. echo 8 wasn't initially for pubs anyway. it's not like the lobby chat is spammed with foreign language so nothing prevents you from finding a team to scrim against 0.o
It feels like you guys all ignored myAWM since this is the only real response that's worth reading that answer the topic. -
1) A lot of you are failing to realize what the fundamental problem is in this situation. The server/channel doesn't make the players, the players make the server/channel. Changing servers won't do you a bit of good, most players are used to Echo 8 and will be staying there. So, first accept that.
2) Echo 8 was never meant for public games in the first place. As a previous poster said, they started gaining ground when players made FFA's and open rooms while waiting for scrims to become available. Monkey see, monkey do in this situation. More and more rooms just started becoming public rooms, less and less scrim rooms.
3) Echo 8 was designated as the channel where semi-competitive and competitive teams would go to find scrims. If you guys want it that way, then the only people that can make it happen is you. Players have to self-regulate. If you're that set on having it as a scrim channel, if you see someone make a public room, don't join it. It's that simple. Public rooms exist because players create them and you join them. I go into Echo 8 all the time and I see public rooms with a lot of so-called competitive players. If you're tired of that, don't join the room. Push them to go elsewhere.
Suggestion:
Instead of spamming the lobby with 5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5 all the time, have your team create a room with the title, "Team Name 5v5" set the slots at 10 users, and lock the room with a universal scrim password. Teams now coming into Echo 8 can scan rooms (like the clan war channel) for open scrim rooms, as if you were in the clan server. Opponents can use the universal password to get in and then set up the scrim between the team that started the room.
If the universal password isn't your forte, you can always PM the room creator for the password. It's not hard to copy a few letters from the room information is it?
That's the best suggestion I could think of. Fill up the server with pre-made rooms, as if it were the clan server. Leave less room for public players to make games. Like I said, it all comes down to player regulation. If you want Echo 8 to be the scrim server again, you guys have to make it that way. If you see a room other than the name "Team Name 5v5", don't join it. Players make the channel, not the other way around. -

Good idea. But the problem is, if trolls get ahold of the universal pass is would just make everything more complicated, and we would have to change it every few days. -

Exactly. Room host still has the power to kick people. That's the whole point. People will know its a 5v5 room. If you don't want someone in there, have the room host kick them out.
Think of it as a new clan server. Pre-make the rooms, wait for another team to come looking for a scrim. Don't sit there in the lobby spamming for a scrim, then find one and not have room to make a scrim room. Pre-make rooms, "Team Name 5v5", set it to 10 slots, lock the room. That way teams coming in can just scan the room names for a scrim they'd like, just as if you were in the clan server.
