Okay, I am having hard time deciding what to buy: the DSR-1 or AWM?
After looking at DSR-1 vs AWM topics, I am even more confused... So, can anyone please pick what is the best for me, without the "semi-automatic sniper rifles are for noobs" stuff?
I need a gun for noscoping and long range shots. I am very bad at quickscoping and close range scoping. The fact that you remain zoomed in after shooting in the DSR is what attracts me to it, though I quite like the two zoom levels of AWM. Both guns feel really heavy to me. M700 is really good for me, but it doesn't do one shot torso kills which makes me fail hard. I had dragunov for 7 days, it didn't feel right... Well, maybe because it deals slightly less damage than AWM.
So, what is your advise?

DSR-1 is better for sitting back and relaxing.

thing is, I said that because the DSR is better than the awm when you kick back cuz it's semi-auto.
The awm is better for rushing because the DSR has a slower pullout speed. -
I recently bought DSR after using awm for multiple years, and Im quite impressed with DSR, or the mechanical penis as my team likes to say

I use the dsr is almost any situation, and do much better with it than I did with AWM.
I'd recommend dsr but, of course, everyones different. It does require a good, steady aim for long range since there's only 1 scope, and you do need to QS quite a lot since it scopes in a little too much for close range.
It really all depends on what you're more comfortable with. Ask a friend to let you borrow each gun in a SD match, and try them out. See what feels better and which you excel with. -

AWM if you're one of those morons that quick scope.
DSR-1 if you want use a sniper rifle like you're supposed to.
Lol someone is mad.
Btw the AWM is the best sniper in the game, you can sit back and camp or you can rush and just destroy the opposition. I very rarely quick scope with the AWM and still amass lots of kills when rushing. -
DSR
Pros:
Semi Auto/Fast fire rate
Able to stay in scope after shooting
Scopes in farther than AWM single scope
Cons:
Scopes in farther than AWM (yes, it's a pro and a con)
Longer draw than AWM (I think)
Cannot get out of scope by right clicking unless you can shoot. Meaning that if you just shot, you cannot quickly right click to get out of scope. You must wait until you can shoot to do so. (however, you could use Q to quickly get out of scope)
Shorter barrel may hinder your quick scoping aim.
AWM
Pros:
Double scope, allowing for basically all range sniping easily.
Shorter draw than DSR, so you can more quickly get a shot off, or more quickly switch back after pressing Q.
Barrel may help with quick scoping, as it almost reaches the center of the screen.
Cons:
Cannot stay in scope between shots.
Not semi auto.
Overall, I prefer the AWM. I own both, and I use the DSR sometimes, but I prefer my AWM. It just has more of a "sniper" feel to me. It's the gun that basically governs how I snipe. I usually act like I'm using it when using other snipers, so it's definitely the sniper for me. For you, since you liked the M700, I would recommend the AWM. Both of them have double zoom, and are pretty similar, although the AWM has significantly higher power, more accuracy, and weighs more.
I hope this helps! -

No, it's not. It's a matter of preference. I personally can outsnipe "competitive" awm'ers with my DSR with ease. Even though there's very little dsr players, and even less in the competitive side, DSR is much better.
I know I said it's about preference and above I said dsr is better, and people will say I'm a hypocrite, but here's what I mean.
DSR when used to it's fullest abilities is a better sniper than AWM. BUT, and I repeat, BUT, only if it's used right. What I mean is, a noob will do better with AWM, because he doesn't know when to quick switch, QS, hard scope, stay scoped in, etc etc.
So tl;dr : AWM > DSR unless the person with DSR is an expert with it. In that case, it's DSR > AWM.
Ill prolly get trolled because I know people in this community can't handle the fact that their favorite gun isn't actually the best gun, even though they think it is. -

You left out some things about the DSR. The zoom is horrible, the quick switch is horrible, the reload is horrible and lastly pulling out the DSR is the most horrible of the cons of the DSR.
I consistentely out snipe pro DSR users with my AWM to the point that it's rather sad. Hell i can out snipe a pro DSR user with my m700 if i put my mind to it.
Side note- i really do hate when idiots think that sniping in THIS game is only about camping especially in a sniper only match. Even in a non sniper match i move around and am frequentely out in the open for all those nubs to spray me with their rifles and SMGs. -
