This is what has come from it, Z8 is starting to understand what its players want. So I say thanks to all the QQ guys out there..... Restricting IP.......We win

  • i'm happy with the decision. but this is a long term solution.

we still need a short term solution because the game is still almost unplayable.

True but as they get ban on old accounts. They can not start a new account. thats what is so good about this. And as for all the BR,GER,TURKS that are legit can still play. You still mad about the: You cant read stuff...lol
  • Lol yea they defended Br's for years, calling others rednecks and racists for pointing out they hack, insult and kick others for no reason, banned people for this.

Said 1 million times they won't be banning or restricting anyone, even recently, Then decided to listen to the community and announce out of the blue "we are restricting foreigners"? LOL I don't think so.

I saw that and replied to them but I'm not gullible. Do you really believe they are listening?

Sounds more like they approached the company for a license for a BR server (as per their recent data collection), and said can we please have one as we have many BR players and the company told them no and to abide by their license.

Nothing prior to this corresponds with what Z8 said/done nor was doing.

Dude belive me, I was so negative to the fourms Ive been ban 3 times, for a month at a time. But this is good news. I really think Z8 has stepped up its game. Only time will tell. As for now... good job Z8...

Based on what? All evidence points to the fact this was not a decision of Z8's so no I don't believe you.

They have a Portuguese sign up page, they have patch notes in Portuguese they tried to accommodate Brasilians by creating the America South server, and they were trying to make a Brasilian server, and they said thousands of times they won't ban Brasil (just Brasil), now they are banning all foreigners and suddenly complying with the license?

For clarity I'm not saying they won't restrict and I don't believe it, I am however saying it was not z8's decision to do this - I can't believe that sorry.
  • Jajajaja I'm still around with my 200 ping :D
  • And furthermore if this was a decision of Z8's why does this only apply to one of their games and not both?

Could that be because Crossfire is owned by Smilegate and Metin2 is owned by Ymir?

I dont care whos idea it was, it is the best idea they have had in a long while :D

I think the only people against this will be the people who hack on alt acount to be perfectly honest, everyone here already has their acounts so why should they be bothered?... The legit players most probably have frinds in game who are from either Na or UK so if push comes to shove they can always ask them to make an account for them... (not sure if that will actually work depending on how the system works, im guessing the personin UK or NA will have to play on the acount for a while before handing it over so the system thinks the person using the acc is from the allowed country. But they could just program it so that the date the acc was created is checked against the date the restrictions came into affect and the location of the IP being used. So it could be fool proof)

Well I care when you have stupid children giving Z8 credit for the decision and then on the other hand they absolve Z8 of any wrong doing with regard to everything else.

They say blame Smilegate about x Z8 cannot do anything, blame xtrap about x - Blame anyone but Z8!

Then when Smilegate has probably made the most dramatic and best change for this version their credit is given away to the very people that advocated and encouraged some of the worst foreigners to the detriment of all other players.

Its the way of the world unfortunately ;)
  • Its the way of the world unfortunately ;)

OFC there seems to be an endless supply of stupid people on Earth lol

At the end of the day good is good and these changes will I am sure make the game a lot more playable, maybe not in the short term but in the long term definitely.

Pings should normal out, less hackers and more English speaking people in game must be a good thing, I have nothing against foreigners but this game has been overrun.
  • I think that some (well, a lot of) hackers from certain contries shouldn't be a reason to make legit players unable to make new acounts, and it shouldn't be a reason to make it unpossible for new legit players to make an account. I am against the decision, I think it destroys the ideal of equality no matter color, religion or nationality. - I think the decision is racist.
A few hackers should not destroy the game for legit players, but now they have definately destroyed it for the legit BR's, GER's and turks. The hackers won, supported by z8, smilegate or hoewer made the final decision.

Wrong. When a player asked we responded 'There are no plans to restrict anyone at this time. We even said that could change, and now it has.
  • any way, this isnt because we wanted it, this is because they dont have the licence to distribute the CF client to anyone outside the uk/na/canada.

still wont change things as there are plenty of ways to get around an ip restriction, this just makes it harder.

I'll just quote the announcement here, with some highlighted information.
Today we are announcing an evolution in the NA/UK version of Cross Fire with the introduction of IP restrictions for players outside North America and The UK.

Soon, Cross Fire services under Z8games will be restricting newly created accounts made through IP addresses outside our North American and UK regions from accessing the game.

This is implying, also by stating in other posts and areas that the restriction is coming outside our regions. Which is by License, which is controlled by smilegate.

There is another thread here where I have said that this is not a "design" decision, by anyone involved.

And the last part of the announcement:
Z8Games remains an international service. Our website and community will be open to all, and any current titles and future titles, including Metin2, will be unaffected by this Cross Fire IP restriction. Please note that after these restrictions are enabled, players outside of the NA/UK region may still be able to make an account on Z8Games.com, but they may not be able to access the Cross Fire servers.

We currently publish 2 games from 2 different developers.
During our time that we have published Metin2 and Cross Fire there has been no need or desire to issue any restrictions, design, legally, contractually, publisherly, developerly or what-have-you.

At this point in time however things are changing. Thus the evolution of the game. And the need to issue an IP block.

    Additionally in that announcement:
Stay tuned to the Z8Games and Cross Fire websites for more information regarding when these changes will happen and who exactly they will affect.

This combined with an obvious post in the Technical Support section would suggest there is more information to come. Try to stay calm and keep your eyes out for more information!

    No more Australians? :(

We will be releasing more information on regions and who's restricted and who's not soon.
  • Making an exception for australian players is racist.

    that's not a race, so you're wrong.
  • Australia is outside na and uk. End of the story.
  • good.. knock out all the high pingers , n plz improve the reg system like it used to be..
i play in CF CN with 35 ping, which it's awesome against all low pingers, but here when i used to have 28 ping still reg sux
  • In 1-3months the game will be super clean ^.^
Less tickets are sent = every hacker will be banned within 1 day!

But this is not hacker related but rather license related so that argument is out the window.

Obviously this will stop new legit non NA/UK members from registering, but this game and license is for NA/UK only so in response to that they shouldn't be playing anyway and furthermore the ones that are already here are not being affected at all as they get to keep their account(s).

So if your German, Aus, Brasilian, Turkish or even from Zimbabwe you won't be banned, so enjoy yourself play fair don't get banned and your here until the game ends.

    Cool thanks for the clarification.

Although you may not want to answer this; Do you think these IP restrictions put in jeopardy this version of CF? Because income may be affected and new players and potential income will be lost.

Obviously a game licensed to a certain area(s) can still be profitable but with this being an international CF then suddendly being restricted....
