one of the best art schools in the country/world is in my city, ive been in there a couple of times and they use macs, students and school.
Good for them? I fail to see the point. Every school as far as i know says they are 'the best'. Forgive me if I remain skeptical.
But school and actual businesses are two different things btw. -

Most of the vehicles you see on the streets today are designed by the students that graduate from there additionally product design and other areas, no need to be a mac hater, but mac computers are very good for art work, i have yet to have a problem with compatibility issues along with others. Until you use the product in depth don't hate it on it. Just because you can't play your minecraft on it doesn't mean you need to be butt hurt.
Additionally most of my cousin's crew uses macs for his movies.
Also schools are a business. -

Most of which are vehicles I don't use simply because insurance, gas and the sheer cost of them is simply ridiculous.
I don't need to hate on Mac's. They prove themselves to be a pain daily.
If they were so great they would be the industry standard by now. They aren't for a reason.
I had to use them for my first two years of college and I got another two years to cope with them. These are brand new Mac's as well. Apparently 'top of the line'. Not only did they blow for tablet compatibility, god forbid much of the hardware work with it as well.
Only 3% of the class enjoyed using these machines.
Besides, what makes them so great with graphics? You can buy a pc for less than a third of the price and it will not only last longer (unless your a terrible computer user to begin with), they will preform the same or better than a mac of equal specs.
They fail with networking with other machines as well. Even Linux tops them there.
They ARE good for art stuff. (Then again so can any machine if designated for such.) If you can get them to work with the stuff you need.
Good for them as well that they can work with such tools. Still don't see how that relates to the world that still uses PC more than Mac's if that argument stood up.
School is a business yes, but its not in the art business. They are in education. -
I think you're butt hurt about your minecraft, my sisters mac book pro lasted 5 years so far, and my other sister 3 years, without any problems, if they weren't so great, why the **** is the company so successful? lol[MOD]Talonblaze wrote: »Most of which are vehicles I don't use simply because insurance, gas and the sheer cost of them is simply ridiculous.

Where are you pulling the minecraft reference out of.
The reason Apple is so successful is because they market in practically everything. From MP3/iPods players to the Music(iTunes) for the MP3/iPods to Phones, iTabs to the Phones apps, to the Mac keyboards, Mac mouses, iThis, iThat, iMovie, iPhoto, iLife, iMac, Macbook, iFckingAppleGodDamnIt.
Once you buy one of their products, you have no choice to buy everything else for that one product to work. That's how Apple makes it's money. -

i'm using my ipod/itouch with a PC, it doesn't have to be on a mac, also even if they do sell a wide variety of electronics, if there computers weren't so great why would they keep producing them, people must not buy computers that aren't good? Companies don't keep producing something that doesn't sell.1of300sparta wrote: »most of the vehicals around here are japenese, because their engineering is far superior and more fuel friendly. gg
most of the students at this art school are from foreign, it is a international school. GG -

You use iTunes in order for that ipod/touch to work on PC don't you? The principal is the same. You're always stuck using another Apple product to make your device work. Why do people keep buying Mac products? Because they're stupid. Everyone believes since Apple seems so sleek and professional, their products must be good and hence buy it without actually looking into it. Do you see how Apple markets their products via the flashy trademark Commercials? "Hi I'm a mac, and I'm a PC".
Why don't you actually ask mac owners how they feel about using their macs? And not owners that just bought macs recently, but have been using it for a while.
I've heard some really bad things about macs from people who I know bought and used it. -

Problem is that most people that buy macs are little privileged students that dont know anything about computers. They just get bought an expensive pc by their parents.
Also do you guys hate the OS X or just the max hardware lol. -
the amount of horror stories with windows computers will always surpass macs, it's like that for a reason, as for gaming, i don't tend to use mac but it is very easy to game on it, Most of you sound like dihard windows fans because of mostly gaming. Which makes most of your arguments invalid, i am a windows fan but you just don't put down a product because you guys can't play your cf or minecraft on it, it's purpose is for real life applications like on the job, not gaming. The only reason it sells is because it's a good product, not because people are stupid. If there are as many horror stories as you say there are, it is simple enough that the product would not sell. Only reason people go to windows is because it's cheaper and you can game on it.

My husband just bought a 27" Imac and it's amazing....he can boot up in windows when he wants to game and black ops, battlefield BC2 etc...look amazing on it and run flawlessly.....they look way better on the mac then on my comp...:(
I think Imac's are awesome -

uuuh far more ppl use pc then mac, mac is a minority therefore less amout of complaints, derp.
and you have a job so you can have money to indulge ur self, games = indulge -
mac's
i have been a faithful pc owner, power user, gamer and repair tech for over 20 years. having said that. i got tired of windows (bloated crap) and always finding a way to bog down or crash. and this was with over $4500 of premium hardware. i sold my gaming rig about 2 months ago and bought a top-of-the-line 27" iMac i5 3.1ghz 12gb ddr3 and radeon hd 6970/1gb. the mac side of things are awesome. if there was a program i needed in windows, theres one to be found for osx. i have a small boot camp partition for win7 to play some games. there is absolutely no hardware or driver problems in windows. the games run at max settings @2560 x 1440 with no lag.
conclusion, i would say i now have the best of both worlds!
FYI apple is the third largest computer manufacturer in the U.S. right now (http://www.lovefortech.com/2011/07/14/apple-third-most-sold-in-the-u-s/) excluding the "iDevices". They are also the second most valuable company in the world next to Exxon.
common guys apple is not getting close to the top for nothing. -

games isn't indulging for everyone, and i'm not talking necessarily about the amount of complainers but the amount of problems with windows compared to mac. -

Wrong, Windows is only for Gaming? That's ridiculous.
Reality is, windows is for developing, you can make any software you want and it'll practically run on Windows. Can't be said for Mac, since Apple is already developing it's own line of software for it.
Databases, websites, servers, they all run on Windows. Whether it be Windows Server 2008 or Windows XP. You just have more freedom with your OS. I have a wide range of programs I use on my XP for developing that probably wouldn't work so well on Mac, xampp being an example. MC Visual Studios being another. -

I wasn't talking about it being dominant, I was just saying Windows is capable of that. Mac is not.
More and more hosts are starting to feature Windows server hosting these days, you know, it's a matter of time before it catches up to big name Linux/Centos -
mac
umm i wouldn't say that mac is not capable. are you not famillar with Mac OSX Serer? capable of PHP, MySQL, Apache and bind to just mention a few.
It is based on an open source foundation called Darwin and uses open industry standards and protocols.
