Good Deal?
Hey I'm looking for a computer that can handle this game because mine just simply will not cut it. I found this one but I don't know anything about computers.

Yay edmonton! I lived there once. Snowy and cold as hell.
Anywho, yeah that PC should handle this game fine and is quite the bargain at that too. Make sure that everything works fine before purchasing it though. Seeing as it's used there might be a possibility of an issue arising after a couple of months of usage.
If you're planning to get that for $300, I'd suggest saving up another $200 and building a custom PC yourself. It'll probably run smoother and last longer if you do so. -
You'd be buying old tech with basically no upgrade path to decent modern hardware.
Want a new GPU? You'll need a new power supply and a new processor to keep up with it.
Want a new processor? Need a new motherboard, RAM, etc, and at that point, you'll have dropped $200-$300 on this lot and have to scrap 75% of it anyway.
If you can wiggle it out of the guy for $200 it's probably an... okay? deal, but I'd be wary of buying any used self-built machine from anybody.
Do what iPhoenixi said. -
And Win Vista with 128 GB ram could be laggy....360Spinner wrote: »Win7 with 2 GB ram could be laggy
Everything about 1 GB will run Win 7 properly.
@Topic
I would take it if you know that the won't play any new FPS or RTS in the future. When you stay with Crossfire this deal is awesome. -
the computer is acceptable.
I think that you can get a slightly better PC for like $50 more. You should look in your local computer store, or on the internet.
Maybe you can get a better one for the same price.
Like most said, Win7 2Gb little bit laggy. But I also use 2Gb on win7, and I don't see a lagg. and 2Gb more is not that expensive I think. in USA prices are different than in Holland
But you should take your own decision about the computer.
This one is good enough for this game, I use the same graphic card and I used a worser CPU. (got new one now). -
I would look for another computer, That one is ok, but it will not set this game on fire. You will be looking at about 35 to 65 fps at best. The 3800 cpu is going to slow ya down some. Dont get me wrong you can play this game with that computer. But for 200 bucks. you could upgrade what ya have. Or find something better.....

For $200, decent, but I'd suggest that you save up some more money & get something better.
Before I did a bunch of upgrades to my other PC (it's not like this anymore), it consisted of:
Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.3GHz
2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
Radeon HD 4850 (similar performance to the 9800GTX/ 8800GTX/GTX+)
...I was able to get an average of...60-80FPS in 8v8.
With this $200 system, expect 40-60FPS in 8v8. 2GB is a little low with today's computer standards, as 4GB is the recommended minumum; either using Windows Vista or 7. DDR2 has gone up insanely in prices as DDR3 is widely used. Expect to pay $40-$80 for 4GB (2 X 2GB) of DDR2 RAM.
* I still remeber when I bought 4GB of DDR2 Corsair memory for $14.99...good times...
* You can get 8GB of DDR3 for $60 on sale!
The 8800GTS is a slower version variant of the 8800GT so...
8800GTS < 8800GT < 8800GTX/9800GTX < 9800GTX+ / GTS 250
The X2 3800+ is pretty slow, but you could upgrade it if you want...if you can find processors. Even with the upgrade, you're still not gonna be much better since all the system specs isn't great. It's also 4+ years old technology...socket 939 or AM2.
Too bad he didn't tell you what motherboard it has & what CPUs it can support up to. If it's a AM2 or AM2+ board, then you have some sort of upgrade path. If it's the older 939, then tough luck.
The person also didn't say what 450W is installed..just "good quality". Means nothing. If it's actually a good unit (Antec, Corsair, OCZ, Enermax, etc.) then it should handle faster graphics cards fine.
If you want to buy the system, I won't stop you, but if you plan to upgrade it to play modern games on Medium/High, it will easily cost you another $200 or more.
