Mg-42

Bold bits are important bitsWhy not just use the modern MG3, which is the MG42 incarnate?
Because the MG3 has the same old boring 100/100 ammo. 250/250 ammo would be a beast and would be decent for MM/HM. Nearly every MG has exactly or nearly 100/100 ammo. The MG3 also can have a 50 bullet belt/drum but the ammo either would be finished quickly or there would be too many reloads in such of a short ammo belt for an MG. It's sometimes best to stick with the classics. AK47,Thompson, Winchester and more are old, but the modern variations probably won't be as good as the orignal. Take AK47, it has the highest power in CF but hard recoil. The AK74 with still hard recoil and even less damage than the orignal. That's crazy but If i suggested MG3 as the incarnate of MG42, it's an AK47, AK74 and AKS74U type then. So why not? It's kinda nice to have different variants of guns in different ways of owning them like what i suggested the RPD like the RPK. -
YES YES YES PLEASE.
The MG42 is my favorite Machine gun of all time.
I don't care what the gun is like in game, as long as it shoots REALLY fast or SOUNDS like its shooting really fast ill be happy.
Unlike that monstrosity that is the MG3 in other versions. -

I thought to myself, darn this idea, good idea just to have <insert gun here>/MG3 or MG42 crate. 90% chance of MG3 being the second option, maybe best weapon in the crate is PKM or something..This is german M60 is american dumbo
Exactly. -

Power: MP5 or lower
Accuracy: M60 or lower
Fire rate: P90
Recoil: M60 or higher
Weight: RPK or lower
Ammo clip: 250/250
The MG42 is a general-purpose machine gun used in Germany back in World War II. It was produced in 1942 and had an effective range of 1000m.
The MG42 is a GP Black Market item.
My other ideas:
RPDI don't get why you made the power of this gun so weak while it fires a larger round than a M60. The MG-42 fires a 7.92x57mm Mauser round, while a M60 fires a 7.62×51mm NATO round.
Its muzzle velocity is slightly lower, cutting into its effective range a bit. Also, due to its trumpet-shape muzzle, its not as accurate as an M60 at long range. However, it fires at twice the firing rate of an M60, making it quite a bit faster, and also overheating quite a bit faster.
If you are really aiming to make this a GP crate gun, I would give it a 50 round belt, rather than a 250 belt. Otherwise it would be too powerful to even be considered a GP crate weapon, having more bullets than even the Gatling gun Gold has per reload. Making it, lets say, 50/200 would really balance it out, if you increase its power to proportion.

Yeah 50/250 would be pretty balanced, but then again it would need a slight buff in firepower or a reduction in recoil or a good spray pattern cuse a P90 eats through its ammo really fast.
Hell with 50/200 ammo it could even be a GP weapon as all it would have over the other MG would be its raw firepower from the really high ROF with decent damage. -
With the 7.92x57mm Mauser round, its power would be higher than the M60.

The MG-42 MP5 damage and shooting as fast as the P90 would do 389.2 damage per second VS the M60's 345.8.
As a ZP crate gun that wouldn't be very good unless it had 125+ round belt, as a GP crate gun, meh, could use a damage buff. But as it would stand here it would be a decent GP gun with 50/250.
As a GP gun it would be the most powerful in the short term, long trem it would be the RPK or M60. tho it would nearly have as much ammo as the M60 + MG mag and +50% if it also had the MG mag and +50%.
As a GP crate gun With no other GM crate MGs it would be good but could use a damage buff.
As a ZP crate gun it would be great if it had 125+ round mag as the damage it can deal would be insane, not as much as the Gatling, but it would have a lot less drawbacks.
