    No, it doesnt.

No, they dont. If they have just arrived in crossfire they have absolutely no idea about what weapons are overpowered.

Who cares? This is a game.

    A game.

There are far better games. If you want a game with a competitive community play a game built for it.

This game is meant to be fun, not to be competitive.

    Im gonna doubt that.

Dont pub then. Simple. Since when did competitive players pub anyway? I thought it was competitive or nothing with you lot.

Btw how will they know if the m12 is good or not if they just came to this game.... Whats a different character model gotta do with anything...

I'd be glad to be proven wrong, if this is actually what you guys offer it's almost as sad as when I decided to go to UK 3 - 8 on Rory's recommendation, made a blackwindow. and sat there until I got kicked for idling waiting for someone to join it.

    Har har. :3

    So true.

only the cost for a team to play on Dreamhack , entrances , TV , online TV's , things u buy there

That's just 1 million right there
The only relevant point is computer space+sleeping space, which is 850 SEK per person/PC
This equals to around 1,6 million USD (todays exchange rate counted off of their world record statistics for computers connected).
Obviously things you buy there can't be counted towards their total income since 1) those are caterers 2) if you're referring to hardware, its not exactly Dreamhack AB that gets the money from the stuff companies sell in their booths.

Equipment purchased (switches, cables, staff, security, tables etc) alone goes for about a million SEK.
    Renting the hall another million.
    Taxes, fees etc.
They probably make around 2 million SEK per session, equals to just over 300 000 USD.
This counting low on the expense account of course, I'm probably missing some major expenses.

And the most important part of course - this is the biggest LAN in the world.
A lan for CF wouldn't be.

You forgot the massive amount of electricity and bandwidth.
  • Z8Games makes an annual revenue of 17.5M, they would have to organize 17 [and a half] massive LANs for tens of thousands of players to "doubble theyr money". That's unrealistic. You also fail to bring in the expense of renting out a space for tens of thousands of players to sit, a nice venue would probably cost in the tens of thousands for one day, and that's just for the room. Now, try to find 10000 computers to rent for a day.
    DatMuffin wrote: »

At LAN venues, that comes included in the price.
  • z8 will double their money, if they give you grammar lessons.

    Oh, right. That.

..... No, to double their money it would have to be 35 massive lans to double their money raking in 1 million profit minimum.

    Thats just ridiculous
  • [MOD]dot wrote: »

    Yeah.

That electrical drain that would dim the cities power if the local power stations didn't increase their output in conjuction with dreamhack starting.

That and high speed connections to each computer.

Good luck finding enough players for 35 massive lans.

Most of these kids can't even get to online practice.

True, I was just factoring in the fact that instead of making 17.5M a year, they would make 35M a year in revenue. I was considering the fact that he stated that massive LANs make $1000000 in profit.

    Exactly...

This kid has been shot down so many times and is still defending his "COMPETITIVE OR NOTHING" stance....

I feel as if my IQ has dropped by several points talking to him.

yeah making 1m profit on 17.5 LAN's would make them breakeven.

Did you even notice that there are at least 4 EU competitive players on this thread NOT agreeing with Kuoras? One person's point of view would hardly represent his team's point of view, let alone his country. Saying it represents his continent is just dumb.

Uk does not have an Echo 8. People usually gather in uk3 8 to play scrims and SOMETIMES find 5vs5's through the lobby, which is not as easy as in Echo. Rory is a randy, thus why he didnt know and told you to make a BW room on a pub channel like any other.
  • yeah making 1m profit on 17.5 LAN's would make them breakeven.

I like how he stated dreamhack as evidence it would work.

That's one lan. List me 17 more that make similar profits.
  • why are you interested in lan partys? its an ONLINE game so play it online. i mean the pings are okay.. you just need some friends to have fun

Now now, I am fully aware of all of that. It's just fun watching you EU guys get riled up.

Either way OP is a fag as usual.

Precisely. Im pretty sure Dreamhack wouldnt run 35 times a year... and bring the same amount of people and profit every time to go by his numbers.

I dont use kid to insinuate that youre a child. I base it off intelligence. I dont have a clue how old you are.

Btw you are aware im a legal adult right? >_>

No it wasnt an idea... you are trying to make this game 100% competitive and rel;ying on LAN's to DOUBLE the profit... thats not an idea.. thats random drivel coming out of your face.
  • Kuoras wrote: »

WHAT would they invest in if you remove ZP? That's the only thing there is to invest to, hello?

Also, fine say an average LAN makes $1 Million. Are you going to make $17.5 Million running 17 to 18 LANs of that magnitude for the SAME game across the span of a year? Good luck with that. You're not thinking. Then you say LANs double the money so you're talking about running 34-36 LANs of that size for the SAME game in one year? *head desk*
  • lololo

wit all the money z8 game makes they surely could take some money out of their pocket to host a lan and get sponsors to help out. Just like how CF Cn do it then CF Na would be more competitive as other Country CFs.

You're the one who has been wrong on every single argument you've tried to bring up.

Fact remains: We have to make money. LANs do not earn millions.
Removing income does not maximize profits.
If you have a problem with a gun, do what is already being done by several organizations (somehow you obviously missed this in spite of advocating ESL): apply rules.

CF to me is a less serious alternative to Counter-Strike.
Why would people switch to it if it became exactly like CS?

I recognize by the countless logical fallacies and factual/financial errors that you haven't thought this through, so I wouldn't mind if you just dropped this, no hard feelings.
