What would my FPS be with this?

Are you just making a $3,500 rig to just play Crossfire? If so, HUGE waste!
This game doesn't use more than 2 or 3 cores, and a SINGLE 6970 will already provide 200FPS+.
It seems the game has a FPS cap of around 200FPS...single 5850 or two does nothing. Stock vs 4GHz for my system, not much FPS increase.
The more RAM chips you have, the more stress you put on the RAM controllers.
No programgam out there uses 12GB of RAM. Some Games actually use 4GB-6GB, but that's with all the eye candy cranked up. (Example Crysis 2 with every setting maxed out/turned on..DX11, tesselation, AA, shadows, reflection, etc).
If you've looked at some reviews, more RAM only provides MARGINAL FPS increase. Overclocking and tightening the RAM timings actually gives more performance (but still nto much).
SSD's have come a long way, and with the new SSD's with the new SandForce controllers & the included garbage collection features, they will last you several years. You also get 3x the better read & write speeds compared to normal 7200 RPM or 10,000RPM drives.
Your hard drives will be the bottleneck for your system...unless you plan to run them in RAID.
Socket LGA 1366 is out-dated, and it's being replaced as Ivy-Bridge (LGA 2011?) is coming out soon.
The Gigabyte G1 board that you chose; will you even use all the features, or will it just be for looks? Will you plan on using all 3 of the PCI-E X16 slots? Will you be overclocking to large amounts and make use of all of the 8 power phases, overclocking chokes, additional capactiorsVRMs, etc?
What about the on-board Bigfoot Networks Killer E2100 chip? Will you be running games that will actual put it to good use? LAN parties? -
Actually I don't like nvidia because, yes. bad experiences with them, and imo radeon is best for price. I don't got no 600 for a 580 or else I would, I would though put it in SLI
200 GB SSD, 300 GB HDD <--- I can do that.
and no, I'm not doing for just this game. there are alot of programs EXTRA I will be using, including learning new programs. I don't think there is a FPS cap on this game because I have seen people with 9,000+ FPS. all I need is some 1 to post these items:
200 GB SSD, Price range = 200 - 350
Tripple channel DDR3 1866 MHz 2 GB x6 ram. Price range = 200-350
75 Hz screen, Wide. Price range = 150 - 350
Those are the only items I need.
EDIT: Yes, I would be doing some LAN
I do not want to do raid as (what I heard) fail easier and have a greater chance of file corruption.
Yes I want more power, Sure I won't need it, But why not?
I will be using all 3 PCI slots later on. -
I highly suggest an IPS monitor. Better quality and better viewing angles.

And a mobo?
1155 socket
6 ram slots, tripple channel.
3x PCI x16 1.0 <--- Requirements. price range 300-500.
24 pin -
Well, as far as I know the 580 is better than the 6970.
But the 590 and 6990 are equals... the 6990 outperforms the 590 in some games, just like the 590 outperforms the 6990 in some games. They are pretty much balanced performance wise.
But having a single 590 or 6990 will probably be better than two 580s or 6970s due to you only getting about 50% performance from the 2nd card. -
I just don't justify of his choice of the 990x. I mean, he'll be buying a dead socket and a very over priced CPU that is almost out performed by Intel's new $300 Sandy Bridge i5/i7's, and they're $600 less. You should buy the i7 2600k ($300) which is a beast and use the money that you saved on better graphical power, or high capacity SSD's.
Or wait for intel's new processor... they are undoubtedly planning something to counter the bulldozer. I mean... that design with each core having an individual die could very well be the breaking point in intel's dominance.
But I do agree that the 990x is a waste. I would personally go with a i5 2500k and a 6990 since he is an amd gpu fanboy.
Then get a 64 gb ssd for boot and a 10000 rpm 1 tb velociraptor for storage. -

thats the motherboard, will it work with my PSU?

I still need an SSD which I'll look at in a bit. My price went down nearly a grand so far (Took off the screens, took off the HDD's) my price right now is,
2,369 USD -
p.s. limes.
switch the bios switch in the 6990 to overclocked mode.
equal if not better performance than 2 6970's.
The 6990 is quite literally 2 6970's stuck together. With a slower stock speed than the 6970... once you switch it to overclocked performance it catches up to the 6970. -
What do you think of this motherboard?

The Z68 will benefit your SSD more.
SSD:

128GB isn't a lot of space, but SSD's are not meant for storage anyway, just your operating system and main applications.
Dumb question, how many GPU supported PCI's does that have? -

The 6870's get 1 less FPS that the 6990. Obviously the 6970's will out perform it by a fair margin. The only beneficial thing about the 6990 is it's higher lower frame rate compared to SLI/CFX solutions.
getting these in SLI

Main reason I'm gonna use nvidia is because they don't over heat as much.
Can you find an SSD that fits a 3.5" ? -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167043&cm_re=intel_510-_-20-167-043-_-Product
Yes the 580's support 3D.
Form Factor
2.5"
I would LIKE a 3.5 (Standard for my case. dont feel like doing all this modding and fitting) -
Personally, I would stay away from OCZ SSD's. They're notable for their high rate of failure. Stick with Intel or Crucial SSD's for reliability.
Also, TRIM will NOT work in RAID mode (SSD's) You need TRIM to ensure that your drives stay reliable.
ight, so can you find me a 3.5" SSD perf 300-350 GB
3D screen? -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236104&cm_re=3d_monitor-_-24-236-104-_-Product
Are you planning on actually using the 3D or do you just want an extra smooth monitor? I was the type that bought a 3D monitor for it's 120hz.
Nvm then, 120 Hz screen. 3D or not idc
This is the SSD I found.

I got 500 bucks left to spend. 120 hz screen any 1?
I dont want built in speakers. -
All of the 120hz screens on the market are 3D capable. You don't have to use the 3D though, obviously.

That all good?
Price:$3,516.84 <--- Not including shipping!!! Getting a TOTAL of 4,200 but I'm only using that much (Don't you love structured settlements? Not from me.) -
I don't know, Crossfire isn't optimised well to take advantage of powerful hardware. I'm thinking in the 300-600 range in 8v8's? You can add as many graphic cards as you want, it won't even go any higher probably because this game isn't good at taking advantage of all the hardware.
I don't even think Crossfire will take advantage of your SLI. Don't worry though, I am sure Crossfire won't be the only game you'll be playing (let's hope so)
No one gets 9000 fps in game. Maybe when the screen goes black during startup.
People posted screenshots of 5000+ FPS
