Linux/Ubuntu?

I already read that Linux won't be supported (anytime soon). I currently have Windows XP Professional, so I don't technically have a problem. I was just wondering if anyone was able to get CrossFire working on Linux/Ubuntu operating system? I heard some people say that WINE did not work. The reason I am wanting to switch to Ubuntu, or another distro is because I never used Linux at all, and want to try it. The only thing I use my computer for is Ventrilo, Firefox, MSN, and CrossFire. So has anyone got a solution? Has anyone tried dual booting Windows XP and Linux?

Only people can make this change is developers.

Linux is not a system for playing games, and many softwares are not compatible with Linux.

The reason that the game won't work with linux is Gameguard. Dual booting with Windows and Linux is fairly easy. Make sure you read up on it before you try it though. You will need to create a separate partition for linux, as well as a small partition for a swap file. You can find a guide to dual booting Windows and Ubuntu here:

Yea I know how to dual boot. I was just wondering if I could still play Cross Fire on the other Partition. With your response I suppose so. Thanks Greycloak.

from what ive tryed the Crossfire Game in its self will most likely work perfectly via Wine of some sort of emulator. The problem is the Game Guard.

i agree,i think with a script or something for the guard the entire game will work just fine

well i got CF working on ubuntu with a WINE emulator variant. although frame rate will severely diminish, the game is entirely playable
