try these steps and it should resolve your problem
- switch the desktop resolution to the resolution you play the game in
- start the game: it works.
- quit the game
- change the desktop resolution back to the native resolution of the display
- start the game: IT WORKS!!!

if that doesn't work,what screen resolution are you running both crossfire and your desktop at? it could be possible that your resolution is over 1440. that would then cause you some problems as the maximum resolution for CF is 1440. one more question? are you running windows 7?
