Help me tasty

I tried assembling my computer Today.
I assembled mobo without my Video card.
My plan waz to here the 1 beep saying I did the assembling A OKAY.
But instead...the mobo powered up "NO BEEP". Then shut down and powered up again.
WHYYY???

The only thing that I did wrong was I didn't plug in CPU power supply 1st.
But after even plugging CPU nothing happened same result.

Some one plz answer me.
My mobo was ASUS P8P67 EVO.

  • Did you try plugging it all in and then turning it on? I don't know why you wouldn't do that in the first place...
EDIT: That mobo doesn't even have an onboard video chipset. No wonder.
  • You can only boot up a PC without a video card if the mobo you're using has integrated graphics, if it doesn't then I believe it wont boot up.

So your saying wait till get Video card then test it?
Do I need more themal paste if removed my CPU and FAN. from the Mobo.

I still noticed abit in CPU and Heat sink still has Thermal paste.

Sry for being so cluless guys.
Guess I will have to wait till my VGA comes.

But again is PINS supposed to be bent less than 90 Degress.

Dunno why you would take it off. If you have extra I would apply just a little more to be on the safe side. And yeah, just wait for the video card.

There thin layer covering about 85% of CPU and 75% of Heatsink.
I'll Post the pics later. After I come back from freaking working Night-shift at Timmies. :P

I took it off because I was scared that I did something wrong with CPU.
  • If you attached the stock heatsink (that have thermal paste pre-applied) to the CPU & took it off, you should remove the thermal paste and apply a fresh coat.

If there wasn't much contact you should be okay.

To clean off thermal paste, use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and paper-tower/Q-tips and slowly remove it form the CPU & heatsink.

If you are buying new thermal paste, go with Acrctic Silver MX-4, or the new powdered diamond paste (if you can find it; some of the Best stuff around currently).

When you apply thermal paste, it should be a small grain of rice on the middle of the CPU. The pressure from the heatsink squishing down, will spread it out.

As some may have said already, your computer isn't booting/POSTing is probably because you don't have any graphcis card installed. You i3 CPU has a graphics chip on it, but your motherboard doesn't have any display outputs.

Make sure you placed the CPU in the socket correctly.

EDIT: 85% and 75% sounds about right...
