Build me a computer please
So I would like to have a computer built for me. Just link newegg and such please.
and just for reference, I will not be BUYING this, I want to see how much better a custom computer is compared to the prebuilt that my parents got.
Things to be done on this computer: anything from gaming to browsing to editing. It's a shared family computer.
Budget: $2000
Included: NO monitor. Just the PC.
Thank you! Oh and here is the build of my current computer (look at "rig"):

Yeah no I have no idea what that means.RaptorJebus wrote: »slap i7 + GTX 580 + decent case + liquid cooling together
not that hard
I am a COMPLETE novice when it comes to computer hardware.SilverDaNerD wrote: »you dont have to be a computer expert to know building a computer for less than 2000 dollors is better than that computer.
Yep, that's what my dad says, although it may be a hyperbole. The prebuilt in your xfire was $2000?
Can you show me via 7-8 new egg links? Please and thank youMaybe invest a little more in liquid cooling, the family needs that. -

Total comes to about $1800
This PC is going to blow your old one out of the water in every aspect. Trust me.
The i5 processor has an unlocked CPU if you are into overclocking. People are getting 4.4GHz easily. -

looks pretty sweet, but with the extra $2000 it would be nice to have: better RAM and 1 TB of space
But thank you! -

Did you properly read everything I posted? You probably thought I recommended the 120GB SSD for your hard drive needs. But no, that's the boot drive. The boot drive is for installing windows on and the "2TB" HDD is for storing other stuff. SSDs are much, much faster than regular HDDs. Installing windows on the SSD will give you much faster performance. Do a youtube search of that SSD I suggested and see for yourself. And for gaming, 4GB RAM is enough. If you are worried about the brand, I am guessing you never heard of G****ill before. They make some of the best RAMs in the market today. Let me know if you have any other concerns. -

I dont mean to hijack your thread rnark but I have to ask Keda something:
Would it be possible to move my OS to a SSD from my hard drive without wiping my hard drive? I know it sounds like a stupid question but I've never used a SSD before =/ I assume it wouldn't work because of drivers and stuff conflicting but I just want to be sure. -

You definitely can, but I would not recommend it. It's always better to do fresh install rather than transferring the OS from your old HDD. But many people have been doing it without any problems. I will post a link to a very good guide on how to do it.

EDIT: And you shouldn't have any problems with drivers and stuff if you don't change any other components except the SSD.
