Ponderings on hack reports.
I reported four cheaters that were in the same match today, using the same replay but with four separate forms due to the fact that some joined later in the match and the web form doesn't permit you to report more than one at a time.
I then viewed the Contact History to see if they went through and noticed all reports were marked "CLOSE" under status. Does this mean that my reports were treated as spam, or simply that the reviewers will not reply to the tickets?
If the latter is so, it's a bad idea. As someone who hasn't believed in the report system, I would really like for the reviewer to at least tell me that it went okay or not, and why. 5 seconds to type a "thanks" could make a day and restore some faith. And would be really great to just view history and see which reports were successful, rather than individually search countless IGNs.
I also think the web form is rather poor, as it listed "rounds that hacking occurred" and "time when hacking occurred". My timed TDM replay did not have any time indication and obviously there are no rounds in TDM/FFA. Improve the system, my god. I could devise a better report system in a day (yes, I have covered web in IT Applications).
You should also be able to add numerous hackers to the same web form to cut down on upload times and number of tickets.
Please, make it easier for us to believe that the report system still functions. Perhaps if there is a way to segregate obvious and less-obvious? I know this is hard in theory (with newbs, etc) but the support team should be able to just hand out bans after a few seconds of watching each speed hacker.
Regardless, looking forward to see a clan sink. The cheaters in the game included a clan leader and clan LT.

Closed means we've received the ticket, but you won't get any additional replies to it.
If anything, wasting time on manual replies would be a terrible idea.
We receive around 3 days worth of replay-time per day. Obviously there is a backlog.
Keeping track of which ticket summoned which replay and giving a personalized response, memorizing how the process went and whether or not the ban went through, is simply a complete waste of time.
Could probably make the automatic reply system say "Thanks" but I think it already does and obviously not to your satisfaction.
Bans are issued. For reasons stated above, it takes time. Don't waste your own time holding down F5 on someones profile to see when he loses the Honorable Soldier ribbon.
The form is as simple as it possibly can be.
It can't tell which mode the match was played in, so both time and round is available.
If TDM, just put a 0 in rounds.
Put 0 in the time field too if you can't remember.
As for multiple hackers, there is a note field - assuming the "In game name of hacker"-field doesn't support multiple entries with spaces, which it probably actually does.
The note field is also good if you can't recall the exact time and want to point that out.
Just put in a qualified guess and mention that its a guess.
Probably missed something but I have a feeling this will get a retort regardless. -
Why? What's wrong with having it left open, the support team reviews it, then sets it as UNBANNED or BANNED? It's not like it's a secret that reports take ages to review. BTW, I presume received means it just got through, for you didn't review them in a few minutes :PClosed means we've received the ticket, but you won't get any additional replies to it.
Ideally, if the replay system had the ability to skip to a particular round/time/killcount, this could be cut. Hence why I want something better than those FF/rewind buttons. Get the devs off their arses, if this was implemented you would spend 10 seconds per replay. We receive around 3 days worth of replay-time per day. Obviously there is a backlog.
I have never had faith in the report system since reporting on a long-lost account ages ago. The tickets are closed though, I'm talking about a thanks when it's reviewed. I don't really care for this TBH.I think it already does and obviously not to your satisfaction.
That's not good enough. Why should the support team have to watch the whole replay just because the player doesn't know the time? I personally put 0 rounds and included the GR/BL score in time field, but I doubt everyone is going to do this. The form is as simple as it possibly can be.

I had to submit 4 different tickets for one game. I know this is more time spent on my end than yours, but still. This is just adding to the bloated backlog you have.
Thanks for wasting their time. They might ban the player a month down the road, then get to your duplicate report later. Open it, read it, maybe even watch the replay, then realise the player's already banned.Ehhh i think it works i mean i report ppl once in a while and i usually dont see them. If i do i just report the vid again -

Indeed. Barking up the wrong tree if you're telling me we need a better replay system. I want it too and it would cut review times dramatically, but I'm in no way affiliated with G4Box or developers. That's not good enough. They shouldn't have to, but they do.
Act accordingly and make the process as simple as possible.
You don't have to submit 4 different tickets, thought I was pretty clear on that.
Sorry that you thought you did. -
I submitted the tickets previous to this post. I think the way the web form is set out does not encourage the reporter to do as you suggest.
If you want additional hackers to be listed in the comments, say so. I would think to use comments to add additional information about the particular hacker, not additional hackers too. If the round field doesn't apply for some modes, say "put 0 here for TDM/FFA". Add more to the time field, maybe "for TDM, the number of GR kills". Could even make a listbox for mode, which could change the appropriate fields shown.
How does the support team review the reports? I was under the impression that they would download them and view with the information on the ticket in mind. Or is it that they simply mass download replays and watch them without looking at the tickets?
If they read through the tickets I would think it wouldn't be too hard to have radio buttons for banned/unbanned, but whatever. Though I think there is a community impression that reporting simply doesn't work, maybe there is another way to indicate otherwise.
ie bring back the public banlist -
I couldn't say how the actual reviewing system works, I've never used it and never will.
The community impression that reporting doesn't work tends to come from a tiny conspiratorial portion of the community that is pretty much anti anything the company does or doesn't do.
Most people realize that we lose money on cheaters, so we'll never stop banning or working against them. -
The conspiratorial portion seems to be a group that has more involvement in the game. They know what's going on past the patches and events. They definitely know XTrap patches exist, they know patches bring anti-cheat measures.
Maybe all are stupid, but I think some are just saddened that things are not moving forward as fast as they'd like. Everyone wants something to happen, we're all impatient. Maybe some of these people have sat on CrossFire for the past two years and are still waiting for that break.
Perhaps some people just accept it's a free game, and you guys are doing something about hacking. But others see there is so much more that could be done, if some active steps were taken.
The web form can be improved for ease-of-access, the replay system could be improved. I don't know, but while a new cloudy heaven grenade may excite players more initially, a significant drop in hackers should increase the overall experience. It feels to me that these should be top priorities that the devs should be looking at. I have no idea about who the devs are, the size of their team, or what they are like. I somehow doubt they have their days jammed up by adding a new hat every month. -

The report system is fail... It worked fine when I started playing.. You could report a hack, and a ban would come in 1 week. By the MODS own words: the report system recives about 3 days worth of reports aday. So that tells me that the longer we go, the longer it takes to review, I reported a guy back in aug. 16.2010 have reported him many times after. Only to see him still playing... You want to make some of us happy. Then staff the report system. It shouldnt take you guys a year to review a report.. Aug. is coming up guys........ -

Streamline report system by prioritizing reports?
Say player a gets 100 reports and player b gets 1. A is in front of B. Saves lots of time because legit hackers are prone to be reported more. -
i wish i could just zip up all my reports and send them in but a suggestion for the form
some hacks use overly complicated names with mixes of capital lowercase and such it would be easier to report if u could follow the old dos form of thinking and just mention a little of their name enough to define them kind of like how in dos document and settings is docu` -
The three days of replays in one day doesn't seem to be something the players should meh about.
I don't know what stage they are on now, but doesn't this mean that within a year they will be two years behind? That's a terrible solution and the process is inefficient for both reviewer and reporter. The simple web form customizations would help, and those reported for speed hacking or 360ing should be able to be reviewed quickly rather than held behind by lengthy reports of one dodgy kill.
I don't even know if the less obvious ones should have time wasted on them. If they are trying to hide it, go ahead. They won't pass at any LAN.
There should be an in-game system of reporting perhaps, but no. The reviewers shouldn't have to take an extra step in having to sift through your ZIP file.reddeath68 wrote: »i wish i could just zip up all my reports and send them in but a suggestion for the form

If you're too lazy to find out their IGN, you would probably be too lazy to properly fill out the form and shouldn't be reporting in the first place.
