New player.

Good day to you all.

First off, allow me to introduce myself.

I am 19, have been gaming for quite a few years now and enjoy playing Volleyball. Random huh?

I am new to this game and would like to gather a few tips from its online community before I venture out into the field.

-Reccomended server(s) (I live in Europe)
-Reccomended game mode(s)
-Weaponry (I prefer to play as part of a team, mainly supporting/covering roles)
-Any other useful information: guides etc.

I hope you folks can get me sorted with what I need. Please go easy on me ;)

Comments

  • Servers: UK
    Game modes: TDM, SnD, GM
Weapons: Try and aim for M4. Break your M16 and M700. Don't buy crates. ;)
Helpful info: Go to guides section. :D
  • Thank you.

Could you explain GM to me?

You said to try and get the M4A1 (I assume that is what you meant when you wrote m4), why? How does it perform in comparison to other guns.

    -Strengths and weaknesses etc.

Well its really one of the only good guns when you start your new account. You could also aim for K2: nice, stable, moderate power, next to no recoil etc...
    M4a1 is just awesome. ;)
  • Ok so the M4A1 sounds like a good gun to start off with. What about later on?

And why should I "break" my M16 and my M700 ?

He/she means, don't repair your gun when it needs repairing.
So then it will break and you'll get GP.
  • Get the m12 if you really want to win.

    Nuff said.

Go UK servers... but you said Europe. What nation in Europe?

    - UK in your case. I don't know the "competitive" servers for Europe, but you could always hop in Echo 8. (Even though your ping may be high).
    - SnD is the main game-mode that you will see a lot of community members playing. TDM is generally used to warm up. GM (Ghost Mode) is like SnD although the Black List team (one who plants the bomb) is a ghost, and the Global Risk team has to use sound to kill them.
    - AK47 or M4A1 are the major two branches of rifles. K2 is another gun, that can fit most people quite well.
    - Go to the guides section, check out Malte's guide for the AK. (If you are serious about picking it up). I believe Denxi has a bunch of SnD play tips in the guides section aswell.

    Best of luck!

(Sorry for my terrible grammar 25 hours no sleep).
  • heh... my advice is simple.
    1. Purchase a pistol. SIG P228. Nice weapon. As secondary. Better only Desert Eagle. Connect your account to Facebook and get free USP pistol.
    2. Go to HM games and make money ;) When you get a 40K gp - AK78. Train with AK in MM or HM. You must train headshots ;)
    3. Every day do a day mission. 500 gp + different gifts from Z8.
    4. Look at the badges. Try to complete basic badge (soldier).
    5. Try to play in EM games. Test weapon.
    6. Collect GP. And purchase AWM. You need a AWM to train sniping. M700 isn't a good rifle for sniping.

    Good luck :)

You better go take a nap now. :(

hmmm... do you want to die?
  • UK3 Channel 8 is where 'most' competetive eu players go, if you're wanting to become competetive; i suggest trying to find a decent team which'll help you out with the maps and whatnot.

Depending on what you prefer, main 3 guns used are M4, AK and AWM.

What other fps games have you played, out of interest.
    good luck.

Well, I'll try the best I can to explain it but experience is the only way to really figure it out and discover if you like it or not.

Simple explanation: Black List (BL) players are ghosts. Their objective is to plant the C4 (bomb) in either of two locations and defend the area as the Global Risk (GR) players try to defuse it.

The ghosts are invisible when they are still and slightly visible (pretty obvious, though) when they are running or walking. You can bunny hop as a ghost and stay invisible while still moving. Here is a guide to bunny hopping:
    http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=8506

The ghosts carry knives, axes, shovels, katanas, or kukuris (everything except the knife can be purchased with zp or won in crates). They don't ever get to carry guns.

While the ghosts can remain invisible if they want to (unless running or walking or fail bunny hopping), they always breathe. The sound of their breath is how a lot of GR players locate the ghosts when they are invisible. Listening to the ghosts' breath and using it to locate the ghosts is called pinpointing. Here is a guide to pinpointing: http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=515

The GR team's main objective is to stop the BL team from planting the C4 in either of the two possible areas where it can be planted. If the C4 gets planted, the GR team has a certain amount of time to defuse it before it blows up. The GR players can carry guns and listen to the ghosts' breath to try to locate them or see them if they move in a way which makes the "partially" visible.

Hopefully that is at least semi-helpful!

If it wasn't, here is a much more extensive guide:

  • I would like to thank the majority of you for your informative replies.

After reading through the comments on my thread here I have come to the conclusion that some people on the games forums like to spam threads, here an example: "AK-47 is better than M4" - Ok, you have said it is better, care to enlighten me? All I see thus far is an opinion.

Thank you ImSarcastic for explaining GM to me, it sounds fun but I think that could be a little problematic for me to start with. I should stick to playing S&D.

kSteal, I play: CoD4, MW2, BO, BF:BC2, and a variety of other FPS games including some of the Tom Clancy ones. I also like to play a lot of strategic games, most notably C&C:TW. After all, they do say that having a solid strategy and sticking to it is the best option 9 times out of 10.

RawrJafrikan, I live in Germany if that answers your question.

Last but not least: 10,000 GP per broken gun sounds admirable. Do I get any money as a bonus for rising in rank as well?

Thanks for your help so far guys.

    Update//
    • Use Crosshair - A(with yellow)
    • Aim for the head and two click
    • Do not spray and jump around
    • Crouch with AK-47 to lower recoil if you have one(doesn't always work)
    • Quickly step side to side using (A&D) Make it harder for the enemy to kill you
  • Do people actually read what I write and answer accordingly? Or are people here for the most part just "post-count-whoring" as they say?

    Or maybe...

This place filled with kids who cannot read or what? Maybe I should cut down on my whiskey consumption..
  • Kk.

They have the option of trying out the guns before using them.
So use whatever gun which seems like you would connect with best, and buy that I guess...

Definitly UK servers cus you live in Germany. A,B,C,D, west and pretty much all the other servers are located in NA.

    As I said before;

    Recommnded Guide: Be a Baws.

Its a free game... What do you expect?

That and you asked a pretty rudimentary question. Best way to find out is to find out by playing.
