Z8 - where are the resolutions?

1366x768. If this is supported many of the newer laptops will be able to record and upload 720p video. Currently forced to get a monitor or run in 1024x768, which means 480p.

1920x1080. Seems pitiful that players with a full HD screen need to play at 1440x900.

Empty promises, or did I miss a resolution patch?

    months is plural

this could mean that the resolution patch might come in like >9000 months

"Next few" in the context of months shouldn't mean over nine, and the response came last September.
  • Lots of people have recorded CF in 720p...even 1080p...
    Go ask MissiontoPwn or something...

Just because they render their videos in 1080p doesn't mean they record them at 1080p.

    What's the difference...
There's really no good graphics to see anyway...
High Quality Low Graphics are still gonna be Low Graphics...

The highest resolution available is 1440x900. If they upload as 1080p, they are blowing up the resolution. Bad idea.

CrossFire 720p is not possible on a 1366x768 screen because 1024x768 does not have 1280 horizontal pixels.

Please, I don't think you know what you're talking about.

I personally wouldn't care for it apart from the fact that I got a reply which stated it would come in the "next few months". Would appreciate if official responses would not contain fabrications and empty promises in future.

    You are right, sir. :)

Sure this game doesn't look too brilliant. Textures get really bad when you're up close to them, eg walk close to a wall. However, most stuff is sharp enough at moderate range. Quality is already not helped by YouTube compression, trying to upscale from 1440x900 to 1920x1080 starts to blur things.

I'm also really pedantic about having stuff at the right resolution. Some of the extreme zooms you see in montages would be painful for myself to do because I hate seeing stuff pixelated / blurred.
  • You want high definition out of a game that won't run under 64 bit operating system settings?
  • just saying, i play CrossFire on 1920x1080
  • we definitely need NATIVE support for higher resolutions like 1920x1200 WITHOUT 3rd party programs

the answer from the support sounds good, like this is already in planning:)

You know that wasn't the point. I can play GBA emulators fullscreen on a 1080p screen.

@TECHGUY, it's not promising. It's been nine months. I could probably learn to port this game to 1080p in that time.

Seriosly. When will people understand. You get what you pay for. There is no free lunch.

Your tired 'free' argument does not apply here, I'm asking why we don't have more resolution support after support said we would.

Free is NOT an excuse to never improve anything. I also do not wish to participate in some pathetic troll-fest here, if you have an issue or wish to flame, PM me.

    Im not trolling.

Read my quote again and again. Why should the devs even move? I know I wouldnt. If Im not going to get payed that much more, or have an incentive to work, why should I work to satisfy freeloaders?

Ask yourself. Would you work for somone for free? I sure as hell wouldnt.

A person should be passionate about his job. If the whole dev team hates their work, then fine. We're all ???ed.

Do you honestly think the devs work for NOTHING?

Free games bring in more money than you are thinking.

You're really just riding Tasty's ****, and really, hes known for griefing this game with his "This game is free and sucks" crap. I mean if you really feel that he's right though, by all means. Whatever floats your boat.

However the thread has a valid point and the devs DO get paid more than you think. It would be idiotic to think otherwise. This game wouldn't have survived 4 or whatever years with major updates like Mutant mode or etc. if it weren't producing a profitable intake.

As for why the devs should move, well because if you do give more support for more wider range of computers and players, you get generally a happier user base and that will, over time have the company gain more than it loses. Whether it be more players or more ZP purchases. So that should be plenty of incentive for any dev who knows how the game world works.

Now instead of arguing why and why shouldn't the support for more resolutions come in. The real question was, is it ever going to happen? or, why hasn't it happened even after a long duration of time.
  • TASTELIMES wrote: »
He's riding my nuts because he agrees with me that people shouldn't complain about free things?
Would make sense if it wasn't faulty.
You use roads, they're free to use but not free to maintain. Therein lies taxes. Government income.
You play Crossfire. Its free, but not free to maintain. We make money off of advertisements, which requires views - users - players.

While it may look free, you're just the product being bought.
It does give you a right to complain and receive maintenance for the service to be the best it can be - as with roads. Without the players - paying or not (a non-paying customer is still earning the company money in this business), the company obviously dies.

As for the thread: Pretty sure we got a new resolution after September '10, wasn't it in the Halloween patch or something?

you know there are different ways of interpreting the word few?
  • just ask the devs if the can implement 1920x1200 and others
if they do its great if not we cant change anyway

    simple thing
  • TASTELIMES wrote: »
Are you directing all of this to me? When I say this game is free, I am talking for the end-user. Don't give me a lecture on how this company makes money, I studied business in one of the best schools in the world.
you're inferring that the user has no right because hes non-paying, while in fact that is not the case.

And do spare me the endless fictional personas, you're barely at the legal drinking age.
  • TASTELIMES wrote: »
You have to be a fictional persona to have studied at one one of the best business schools in the world? Never knew. Comparing roads, which are a necessity to a free game isn't logical.
    Of course not.
You're just clearly not at university level, so in this thread, the only character who actually went to university is your fictional character.

Do explain the faulty logic of it. "isn't logical" isn't by itself proof.
  • TASTELIMES wrote: »
People have the right to complain about roads, as they pay taxes and taxes usually go for the development and improvement of roads, side walks etc. Now obviously we need roads to function. They guide us to our workplace, to our banks and businesses, they're a big chunk of today's civility.

Games on the other hand aren't a necessity, we don't need games to function in our lives, nor do we pay taxes for "free" games. This user is going out of his way to complain about something free, something he doesn't have to pay for, something that isn't a necessity, and he's complaining about something that isn't even necessary in this game itself; HD resolutions.

There shouldn't be complaining evident about something completely free for the user, it's barbaric. The only thing that should be happening is suggesting, not complaining. Now maybe if he changed the words around, and made this thread seem like it's a suggestion instead of him blatantly raging, I would be fine. It's not tho, the kid is honestly complaining about something he isn't paying for.

Roads aren't free, we pay for them with our taxes. Free games are free, we don't pay anything.

This user is going out of his way to tell you that, that post was unnecessary.
  • TASTELIMES wrote: »
I didn't go out of my way tho.

I was mocking you. By "this user" I was referring to me, myself, and I.

Also, nothing in life is free.
  • R4MM3R wrote: »

The word few is generally relative to the context. For example, "only a few whales left in the world". Thousands or even tens of thousands.

Months? Our current system says there are twelve in a year. A few shouldn't be nine.
