hmmm
just for gaming really i have 10-20fps on average even in 1v1s.. sometimes its 25~ sometimes its under 5 =x
i dont do any video making or idk what else you use a pc for that requires a really good one xD
aside from games i only use my pc for coursework/films
hmm
well what could i get for 400-500... and what could i get for 800-1000 [thats in £'s btw not $'s so the 400-500 would be like 575-675 in your money?] :P
just really wanna know about fps and smooth running pc xP
and seeing as i dont do much else with it i dont wanna spend alot more money to turn say 150fps into 200
I DONT WANT OR NEED A PC CAPABLE OF RUNNING VMWARE FOR EPIC FARMZ k :P
much appreciated ~
live in the uk, play css/cf and used to play WoW -
You probably wont be able to use old parts from your computer unless it is a video card but from the sounds of it, you got an old PC.
Here is a link for a real descent refurbished computer. 2.8Ghz Intel dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, XP PRO SP3 which is a dell Optiplex 745 Desktop Tower for $130 on Ebay which is a buy it now and only $35 shipping:

Buy a 512MB video card and there you go... At least 120 fps. -
TASTELIMES wrote: »Horrible advice. This is a downgrade from what he has now. What he should do is build a new computer that will last him for years, not buy an outdated Dell that won't do him any good even after throwing in a graphic card.
Since he does basic gaming, the majority of the budget should go into the processor. A Phenom x6 would last him years, and would let him do whatever he wants to do at a good price. Add a mid range GPU such as a 6850, and he's set. I'll post a build for you soon.
im gonna get tastied xP
JSUK the low fps is on this frankenstein of a laptop
idk what a gpu 6850 is and stuff btw xD -
In fact they're laughable at since you could read all he want to do with that computer is, basic gaming,no multi-threading,no special edit, basic work like word/excel.
And who said he want to spend that 30$ extra bucks ? You're judgment is failing because if he buy a next generation now for later games it's a simple waste since new generation with come along with those game and the price of older gen will go down. If you were really a tech support you would know that. -

xD all those numbers and letters scare me and mean nothing
how much fps would you estimate from both options xD
and if multitasking as in having a bunch of firefox tabs open, cf, fraps, etc then yeah
but im not one of those people who wants to be able to choose to load linux OR win7 OR vista etc on the same pc xD -
If you don't have more than 3 main software open you don't need more than a 4 cores, if you're a big time multitasker you need a 6core+
Those number are mainly made to be together to mean each part fit the performance of the others.
Both goes over 100fps easly, even the first build run cf with +200 fps.
The first one might run scII around 80-100 fps and the second one 70-80 -

Also, can this build get any better? -
Yeah, just besides like the accessories.. Like mouse/monitor/keyboard/speakers...tasty im probably going to go with the $400 build because i still have to fix my other pc. So is that EVERYTHING i need to order? All ill have to do is put it together and put in windows and i should be set to go?
It will run fine. -

The more the better but nothing noticeable past 60. To the human eye.Simpletingz wrote: »question about fps now:
people say when they have extremely high fps it is actually a disadvantage and makes them lag [or maybe its just an excuse :P]
mythbust that pl0x -
Most people don't use a 120hz monitor. Hence i gave a base line comparison.TASTELIMES wrote: »There's not a set point for what a human eye can see. Going from my 60hz to my 120hz monitor, I noticed instantly how much smoother and more responsive everything was because of the fact my eyes differentiated 120fps from 60fps.
