HM/MM A question.
So whether you like these modes or not you've played them before. I have for sure, played since 1 hit hackers killed everything. So you know that there are basicallly only a few modes for a soldier to take.
1)The wall- Basically a player with a mg who hold the mutants back for as long as her/his mg can go without reloading. Low amount of these players due to the fact that they purchase zp in order to get these metal monsters.
2)Mobile- The largest portion of the player base ,from my experience, who uses any gun besides mgs, typically cannon fodder from the perspective of a wall or survivalist, usually gathers near a wall to survive, even though they be better running around as their name suggests.
3)Survivalist- These players typically use light weaponry, but honestly could be a wall if forced to. These are the guys you see in games with a score of 230/6 due to their amazing survival abilities.
So all that stated which profile do you see yourself play as and why do you play as it?
Also, if you can think of additional profiles, or wish to improve upon the ones I've stated go ahead.
Personally I see myself as a wall since I own a gatling and think Port/Stronghold are the best maps to survive as a soldier, not to mention I'm always surrounded by players in games.

I think everyone would prefer to be a Survivalist. (That's a word?) because of their obvious skillz. So you can't really choose to be one, you just ARE one.
I tend to be a Wall that reloads at good times, but sometimes if the spot is overtaken, I go mobile with Deagle or Knife. -

I play hero mode all the time but there are realy just 2 types of players,
those that know how to play and those that don't know what the hell they are doing.
And the 2nd type of players always amaze me in the stupid things they will do.
also like you noticed, only maps like stronghold, port, and mall are good maps where the hero/soldiers can actually survive. -

Well, for myself I am the class 3 in this list. I prefer lighter weaponry (ones of my favourites being MP5, UZI, M4A1-Custom (Crystal too), AUG-A1-Camo and AK47-Camo. Lighter weapons allow for a fast reload, thus allowing you to escape mutants for a longer time. Silenced weapons (especially MP5-A) allows you a quick escape without every mutant on the map knowing where you are at.
I prefer Port and Stronghold, because those are the maps with a lot of walls and tight corridors (I'm a very hardcore DooM 3 and Quake 4 player) allowing me to effectively hide and run without getting too much attention on myself. I often am apart from the main group (walls and mobiles) for the sole reason that if a blockade falls, it means certain mutation for everyone in that blockade. Rescapees are very rare. Let's face it, when you lose a camping spot, you get less than one out of ten possibilities to escape it and survive more than 30 seconds after escaping. ESPECIALLY true for those camping spots as cages (one exit spots). Meanint that those camping spots are a CERTAIN death for players like me.
Bunnyhopping is another technique allowing me to survive effectively. First of all, it allows me to dodge a large amount of hits AND it allows me to travel silently, hiding my position fro mutants.
Next, the dodging. A lot of players one in one single direction, and when a mutant is close to them, they do everything possible to push them back and run in the opposite direction. THIS IS WRONG. As soon as a mutant starts spamming his hits (being close enough to you), STOP shooting and jump right past him, in the direction he's coming from. This ESPECIALLY helps if the mutants are bossting their speed (even more true for DREAD type of mutants). They often will keep running in the same direction, sometimes even loosing you from their sight allowing you to escape safely.
Last but not least, try to keep ennemies in your line of sight. THIS is why I hate the belowed by the community excavation. Because ennemies can come from virtually ANY direction AND because it's fairly easy to see the whole map wherever you are (okay, exept corridors). If you manage to keep ennemies in one corridor and if you manage to escape far enough for them to loose you from sight, you WILL survive.
Don't try to make points into killing them. Your first objective is to survive, not to be a Rambo. You're a soldier, not robocop/terminator. -
I get constant 100+/8 in mutation modes, and i awalys notice people do this:
most people take in guns that do high power with low cyclic rate from what ive seen. ..which is the exact opposite of what you want to survive in the mode.
the power of your gun should be at the bottom of your list of concerns. what matters the most is ammo count. followed by rate of fire, followed by cyclic(automatic/burst) accuracy, THEN power.
machineguns, smgs (burst fire), and certain assualt rifles (m4,k2,QBZ) are the best weapons to have in this mode.
snipers are pretty useless. you need someone else to cover you from a rush, long reloads mean mutations, most have extremely slow rates of fire, and some have low ammo count.
the most effective in this mode are the lightweights, and the semi-autos. (m700,psg,msg) which is what most people tent to avoid practicing with, so they complain even further. -

bringing a sniper to mm ,especially hero is just stupid.
Also what I see alot is that when crates come out, not matter if the mutant is physically inside the crate, people will still go for it.
Another stupid thing I've seen is when I'm at port with 2-3 people and we're shooting 3-5 mutants trying to come up. Suddenly 1 guy runs out of ammo and decides it's a good idea to go try to knife one of the mutants Oo. So now we got 1 more mutant trying to come up lol. -
Number 3? :P (I always get the top on the player list when i play hero mode. But can't beat 230 /6 what you said. o.o)
Anyway, I sometimes to wall , and i sometimes do jumping technique. If you are good in jumping technique such as excavation, then you will mostly survive. But the thing is, i really hate mutants just staying there to wait me to come there. -
Awesome thread I love that mode but stoped playing it 2 weeks ago reasons :
1- Hackers :about 70% of MM .HM mode containing hackers so its too hard to do something with mutant that has 10x speed and can fly !!
2- No good ranks players. since the hacker crashes . full of newbies which do not know what to do so they are bugging us with flash bang or smoke or offer u a block !!! -
finally i see people that likes this mode because most of people just say " mm/hm is for noobs get skill noob" but imo this 2 modes requires more skills than others why?
well you should know how to spray when 5+ mutants are coming for you
and also how to single shoot (for example in port A when 2 or 3 mutants are coming) well you need to make that ALL your shoots make a hit because in this mode the top priority its save ammo
OT: i think im like these 3 types of "play style" and sometimes i like to hunt them
why not a forumers room of hm/mm? -

For HM it might be a worse idea, but I like sniping in MM.kawaiineko91 wrote: »bringing a sniper to mm ,especially hero is just stupid.
It's difficult and definitely not as effective as some rifles/mgs but it IS possible to get decent/good scores (unless you can't aim or if there's a lot of lag involved)
For a change, still fun though.
OT: I'm random. lol. I'm doing whatever I feel like with the gun I feel like. RPK, DSR, aug-camo, temp guns...if I feel like sniping I'm picking DSR, if I feel like using RPK, I go with that one. If I feel like running in circles (cause apparently mutants have problems with hitting you that way) I do that, so no real profile for me.
That's because people tend to just go with the flow.finally i see people that likes this mode because most of people just say " mm/hm is for noobs get skill noob" -
I love Zone13 map. Sometimes I can survive there. I think Zone13 is the best HM map.
Not necessarily, different maps are good for different tactics. For example on Tranquility and Excavation I usually be class 3 with dual desperadoes, cause you can't wall effectively there but there are lots of ways to loose mutants with a run n gun style. But on Port or Merida I find I always play as class 1 with my m249 (usually with some buddies), and this gets me more points than survivalist style, cause mutants don't stand a chance against 3-5 zp machine guns, so you get the damage boost up really quick.
I personally believe that the wall is the most effective strategy, cause my friend with a Gatling gun got a score of 299-3(sooo close to 300!), and all the deaths were caused by a 1300 ping lager:(.
