Forum Rules - Question.

Hi,

1 week ban will be issued for reaching 7 infraction points
2 week ban will be issued for reaching 12 infraction points
1 month ban will be issued for reaching 20 infraction points
Permanent ban for having 10 infractions total on an account

I remember somebody having told me that it was when you reached 10 infraction points at the same time that you were permantly banned from the forums. I'm guessing that was in the old days. I re read those new rules because I had to check what the sacntion for reporting a hacker on the forums was and noticed that last line I quoted in red.

I'm not sure to understand well. Does that mean that if somebody reaches 10 infractions on an account at the same time (non-expired infractions) he gets a permanant an or does that mean he gets a permanant ban if he reaches 10 infractions whatever for how long they've been expired?

Thanks for reading.

  • Well, my guess is that you get a permanent ban if all ten infraction points don't expire.
  • well im not sure but i dont think it will be for reaching 10 even if they are expired seems you get a 1 month ban for getting 20 infractions... Probably if you get 10 in a short amount of time you get a perma ban
  • Permanent ban for 10 infractions total, which excludes warnings.
  • It might be helpful to explain that infraction points are assessed for the nature of the infraction, so that is why there are bans for points as well as a ban for number of infractions total. You could have three infractions and still merit a 20 point ban (month long) if they were serious enough.

And I wager there are cases where a single infraction may cause an insta-perma-ban.

You know no one reads the guides and announcements.

    Wow, that's harsh.

Now I'm worried :s. I've already got 4infractions and one warning (+1 that I should get in a bit).

You know that you have to, right?

Don't read them if you feel it's useless but don't say nobody does because many actually do.

It's not harsh, players who have had 10 infractions for breaking multiple rules are not allowed on the forums. They have had plenty of chances (Nine) to change their behavior and make sure they follow the rules correctly. For some infractions, such as if they are wrong, or are just not really worth it, they can be reversed, therefore not counting towards the final 10.

Many long term forums don't even have one single infraction.

And that's their fault. If people read announcements, they would not be complaining so much as they would know what is going on. Everyone has agreed to accept the Terms of Service, so if they don't feel like reading into all of these, and then breaking a rule/term/agreement somewhere they receive punishment. Not reading things affects only the players, so the only ones they are hurting by not doing so are themselves.

It's all your fault, follow the rules and nothing will happen to you.

You say that you have infractions and that you read the rules before you made them?

By the way, I actually have read them. I was being generalist in saying no one does. Few actually do. Just like when Hi posts some of his insightful and intelligent messages, you see more "tl;dr" responses than you do anything of worth. It's the nature of people who are trained to pay attention to ephemera to not pay attention to substance.

I knew I would get an infraction in every single of those.
