Crossfire Not starting
Hi to all,
I am an old cf player since 3 years. But since Halloween 2010, my cf wont load anymore, i tried everythning to make it start, uninstalling, clean, reboot, remove antivirus, firewall ...
Now, Crossfire is missing me so i tried to install it back and followed all the steps from this thread http://forum.z8games.com/showpost.php?p=2005204&postcount=15
After installing it, it's also not starting
- i launch CF box
- CF box is nice, no bug, nothing
- Xtrap initializing perfectly, no bug problem, no report, nothing to say
- then the 10 steps HGW game watcher are loading until 100%, nothing to say
- then ... nothing ... no crossfire, no report message, game say nothing, just my usual screen... Game didnt even started, No Crossfire ... even Alt+Cntrl+Delete keys, opening up my Windows Task Manager, theres no crossfire or HGW running.
All thoses steps were loading WITHOUT firewall, anti-virus (which are deactivated during install and game launch).
And also, i made CCleaner ran before install and i unistalled crossfire properly long before before clean install it again with this thread http://forum.z8games.com/showpost.php?p=2005204&postcount=15

Im uping this thread coz i also found other problems like mine on Technical support but where MOD didnt give answers except for "clean install everything again and again" (thats i done sir, any other idea?)
Even with today's patch, it wont start... Xfire and HGW works fine, there is not even message telling you that a bug occured. Just no Crossfire game starting... -

Try updating your OS and your GPU it might work -

I have exactly the same problem, just downloaded, installed and updated this nice game, xtrap and HGW worked fine, but I just stuck at CF's loading screen. Alt Ctrl Del and it said that CF was not responding.
I tried: Reinstalling (with full uninstall by Your Uninstaller, CCcleaner for cleaning registry) and changing drive, disabling Antivirus (Avast 6) and Firewall (Zone Alarm one), restarting, reseting modem, changing Windows User, I even scanned my PC for viruses and spywares and other junk... -

As to your problem, when you start the game and nothing else happens, after that moment, open up task manager, go to processes.
Then look for a program called patcher_cf.exe or something like that. That is the initializing program for CF.
End that process.
Restart Crossfire.
Post back here if it works or didn't. -

Unfortunately, the only programm i see in task manager related to crossfire after nothing else happens is "HGWC.exe" which is running.
I ended that process and restarted crossfire launch box.
Again, all works fine but nothing happens after step 10 100% of HGWC loading (and HGWC.exe is back in task manager, processes ofc)
Any other idea? -
Np, even 30 min after or 1 hour after (my comp rarelly shut dwn), still nothing.
I've got this problem since halloween patch 2010. Since that Day, i waited every patch to fix that, i uninstalled and re installed with new patch and CCleaner but still this problem... -
Hi, I think that my vga card is good for this game and I tried to run this game as Administrator, still no luck. Recapping my details: xtrap and hgw load fine but im stuck in the loading screen and CF cpu usage is capped at 50%, im using win xp sp3, just uninstalled avast and installed avira yesterday.
To shooter40: Do you remember what happened after the halloween patch? I know this is quite stupid but try system restore (dont flame me for this, im an IT noob and just want to help) -

MAybe you are mentioning the start of crossfire since Z8games...
Before Z8games, there was Subagames, i was playing also in this version.
So, for Dr_Dre, if you can help instead of finding lies in threads, all help will be welcome...
For MRSupport, i am glag to hear that i am not alone to have this problem since halloween patch (+ got a friend irl who cant play since this patch 2010)
For Loopsie, I just started Crossfire to play like everytime, had to dwnload the halloween pach, saying to myself "GREAT A NEW HALLOWEEN EVENT PATCH, IT WILL BE AWESOME". Turn out to be a bug where nothing occured after the (succesful) download patch...
For iC0pl3t3, i am already in admin mode and this is my highest graphic card (crysis works so fine with it :O ). -
Why can not enter the crossfire, hit start and go I be charged xtrap, when we reach nothing can be happening.
Well, nice english you have here, but seems that you have the problem than us. We still don't know why nothing happens after xTrap and HGWC finish loading... -
How to repair that
I had the same problem like month ago but i found the solution...i'm not sure where...
Anyway what you have to do is:
1) Download IE7 (Internet Explorer 7 )
2) Install it ----> DO NOT UNINSTALL THE OLD VERSION<---
That's all.It should be working now ;D -

2. start game
3.patcher load
4.x trap load
5. HGW load to step 9 only !!!
6. exactly when it is step 10 *BAM* nothing
7. press ALT + CTRL + DEL
8. no CF or HGW or any thing
note :
no antivirse or fire wall
helllllllllp i have zp items 30 days
