If you can extend your budget to $600 you can make a custom i3 pc. The i3 is much better than core 2 duo. And custom pcs are always cheaper/same price with more quality. -

why so ? My alternative computer is a pre-built bought on ebay 3 years ago, I paid 500$ and i get easly 150-200 fps. I also run starcraft II, cod and other games like that w/o lag. So I wonder if you shouldn't listen to me.
edit: oh and you're the guy using a pre-built gateway >.< ROFL you talk about not listening to me when the graphic card you wanted wasn't even up-to-date. -

So what you want in your computer.
Fan, Minimum ram, hard drive minimum capacity, kind of games you would like to run, or software.
Do you need case fan, ram fan (useless for most of people), hdd fan (useless for most of people) , What country you're living in, does the price include the shipping or not ?

Mobo: Do you have a brand you prefer ? personally i prefer asus for mobo.
Games:
Software:
Cooling:
Cpu: (do you intend to do lot of things at the same time or just concentrating on 1 thing.)
Video card: (do you intend to dual monitor ?)
Case: do you want it with led/fan/window/basic ?
stuff like that.
