Random Ping Spikes
Hey guys, I live in califronia, so i get 89-100 ping. For the past week i have encountered random ping spikes. My ping would jump to 1000 for 2-10 seconds and then it would come back down. This is getting really annoying, so i was wondering if any of the forumers could help me fix this. Should i reset my adaptor? call astound (i am using astound)? I really want my ping to be constant like it was before.

depending on connection and OS everyone is running you might want to optimize your rwin values..helped me alot..droped my ping and stabilized it as well -

it gets to 1000 and sometimes it even stays at 200?
so it might be that you're sister or brother is downloading something?
If you're in UK, are you on Virgin Media?

Google search this 'TCP Optimizer' they have a 'Optimize' button if you're not familiar with Networking. -

dr tcp..but first hit start then run and type cmd..in the black box type ping google.com..it will run a test and then give you your average ping..write this number down..take that average ms ping and multiply it by 1.5..take that number and multiply it by your advertised connection speed in megs then divide that number by 8..that is your optimal rwin to use for dr tcp example:
average ping: 23 ms
advertised internet connection speed in megs: 10
23X1.5=34.5
34.5X10=345
345/8=43.125..this is the examples optimal rwin..but dont enter any decimals that you may have into the rwin spot on dr tcp..have fun!!!
