I've experience the same problem, but only at my friends house on a dial-up connection.
I looked at the applications execution stauts(via memory/RAM) and it says it's waiting for one of it's dependencies, which means it's waiting for a response from Z8Games or one of it's servers which it is NOT receiving, and therefore freezes.
Another good example would be a command line doing a networking command, i.e connecting to a telnet server.. if you try to close it while it's still trying to connect another windows dialog will popup saying it's waiting to do something or in some other versions of windows it will begin to say "Not responding" in a parenthesis on the title window.
This is a common error in the coding of Windows, and was never dealt with with trial and error.. i.e someone putting in a dialog to stop the process of connection to the server and simply say "Failure to connect, please retry at a later time or reset your connection", furthermore I believe it's datacenter related.
Connections are routed between WISP (wireless internet service providers), overseas and such, most are not routed just by cables.. there could not be a direct line between you and whatever CrossFire is trying to connect to while joining that game or is a VERY slow connection caused by a bad internet bumper (ISP/Datacenter's fault), and yes before you go on saying that I'm suggesting your computer is slow or internet is slow, realize that I'm saying it is NOT your fault and the problem will be eventually dealt with overtime by Z8Games or your ISP.
The only thing you can do for trial in error if you believe the error is different or specific to you in any way (meaning that the error might be a fault on YOUR end) is resetting your modem and leaving it off for 20 minutes or pressing the RESET switch on your modem to reset all settings to default, furthermore you can turn off your firewall on your PC/Router and try again and/or port forward to try even more troubleshooting.. you can also get a program to monitor outbound/inbound connections and see if they are successful or blocked by your computer or router... in addition you can go to a friends house and try from there, use another computer, another account, etc.
OFF-Topic:
To the last resort, you may try what they call 'Eternia CF', not many players populate the game but it runs on basically the same technology as CrossFire itself, if EG CF works then it is a problem on Z8Games end.
To Z8Games; I am in no way endorsing players to move to any other version(s) of CrossFire for any profitable gain or marketing effort, I am simply giving solutions to trial and error, I strongly recommend players stay in the NA CF (North America) due to the non-inflated currency system (GP/ZP) and more players overall + better rating, please do not delete my post as I am trying to help a fellow forumer. Thank you for understanding.
I hoped I helped somebody in the aid and assist to solving this problem.

After days trying to solve this problem finally got it, formatting the computer ... the problem was not in the game and the connection, and even in the patch .. I came to the conclusion esa test the game using the same folder on my computer and guess what another game worked perfectly

It's not my laptop for sure. I have a Sony Vaio laptop bought 2 months ago and a good internet connection through wireless.getchaROLLIN wrote: »*a lot text*

Are you advertising CF Private? Lol. Eternia Games never made one, CF Private used that as their domain but they made too many legal issues with Z8.

Maybe if you had enough intellect to read that i was discouraging advertising thoughts, you'd know that I'm not advertising..TheScriptr wrote: »Are you advertising CF Private? Lol. Eternia Games never made one, CF Private used that as their domain but they made too many legal issues with Z8.

Stick to working on a theme for your website, and less advertising on your signature, Tom. -
I prefere having a clean playable CF, then this s***. The only thing i see is some zp crates and other items, after this patch. Z8 was telling us that they will do something about hackers and fix some bugs. We are not the only two players with this PROBLEM. Tell us what to do(uninstall/clean/reinstall/defrag hdd/update drivers/etc), donned all this and NOTHING!
