Question about Search and Destroy

I'm both a noob and a newbie at this game and am not really sure how to play this mode. I was on GR and it I was like the last one left on my team and there was 1 left on BL. The bomb was planted so I run over there, stand in the middle of the red area, and spam e. My team is yelling at me to press e and I'm sitting over there pressing e 500 times but nothing happens and it blows up on me and we lose. I try to team chat with F3 to tell them I was pressing e, but that didn't work either. Why aren't my buttons working? This is what I have them set as in the control menu.

I'll assume you're not trolling. Press AND hold "E"

You have to be standing beside looking at the bomb and hold and press E

The question has been answered, but I remember when I first started and didn't know how to defuse, CF didn't explain it back then. Well, it explained it in the F1 help thing, but I didn't know about that.

Go up the the bomb, press and HOLD E while looking at it. Even if all other enemies are dead, you lose if the bomb goes off on GR. On BL, if the bomb goes off you win, regardless if your team is dead.

He seems to be putting too much effort into being a troll by providing too much background information. Also, if he was a troll, he'd troll even more on this thread. My guess is that since some people here called him a troll/noob, he's not posting on this thread again.

game settings do not interfere with your keyboard .. you can check the option to disarm the bomb .. And is really like ... then watch out of the game if your keyboard works perfectly

I'll teach you how to defuse like a man. First of all, you must, must, MUST...throw a grenade at it. Look at it for 30 seconds, and it WILL start to look like a unicorn. When you see that unicorn, you must, must, MUST shoot it. Done.

Step 1: Find the bomb.
Step 2: Look at it.
Step 3: Find your finger.
Step 4: Find the E button...
Step 5: Drag your finger towards the E button and hold.
Step 5: Wait until defused and eat a cookie.
