Cache is data that you use a lot so your harddrive save them in the cache so they wont have to read them all the time, rpm is the speed of rotation to read the data, in a games you mostly use the same data so it's better to get more cache, but it's sure rpm help to. Imagine you have 3 kind of memory,
fastest to slowest: Cache,Ram,Disk. The cache is the instant memory, ram is another instant memory but a little bit slower, and then come the disk memory which is slower due to the fact the disk has to spin to get read by the laser.
People think of Computer has Virtual, but in fact it's only material, and the biggest barrier for the speed of a computer is the distance, that's why every years when you get new component, or faster cpu it's mostly due to the fact they found a way to reduce that distance (and that's also the reason that make you buy new cooling since less distance for the same thing = more heat) -

yes ive heard that 16mb is too low for gaming, . hople i ll be ok with that new drive!TheRealCoon wrote: »Cache is data that you use a lot so your harddrive save them in the cache so they wont have to read them all the time, rpm is the speed of rotation to read the data, in a games you mostly use the same data so it's better to get more cache, but it's sure rpm help to. thanks for that!more rpm is generally better.
SSD's are now where it's at. Hard drives will be extinct in a few years to any modern PC.
yeah my next computer will have SSD when its fully developed, currently they are having a few issues with this technology i ve read and heard.
one more question: so there is nothing to worry about when moving from a 16MB cache harddrive to a 64MB cache ?
my motherboard would be this
