Not to mentioned it got nerfed...a lot. The recoil was way lower and the spray wasn't random like right now.
I remember when I got it, back when it had 30/90 ammo, I was so happy so I tested it on a GM map while everyone else was getting knifed. It was 5-6 shots dead on without using the scope and 7-8 with the scope. Now its 3-4 and 5-6. Still can do pretty good with it.
Also, in that time NO ONE complained about it. Now they do which confuses me. -

At most ranges the m4 custom will come out on top. The m4 custom has much better accuracy to me than any other m4 variant and the recoil is pretty easy to control. The cool down on the gun is very quick also so when doing short taps the crosshair barely moves. -
Every M4 has easy to control recoil and a fast cool down. So what's better about it? The spraying is more loose and you try a little bit harder to control it. The only thing it wins is on accuracy which doesn't really help if the guy using it sucks. Unless you're a beast or at least decent at single shooting or bursting the gun won't help if you spray all the time.
I don't know but it might be me but any other M4, again..except the variations, are easier to control and use. If they silencer the regular M4 but kept the stats it would just be wrong. -

They havnt figured out that the normal m4 actually has a better spray than the custom. -
M4-C is way more prescise than regular M4, making it more of a designated marksman rifle. It although has more recoil. Experienced players can use M4-C way better than M4 (assuming they are more long rangers or snipers). M4-C allowing to countersnipe and to outtake ennemies on longer ranges.
