Abstract
Paul Allen was born on January 21, 1953 in Seattle, Washington and became close acquaintances with Bill Gates. Their relationship led them closer together after they both dropped out of college in pursuit of a better life in the programming field. Their mindset was staggered at the opportunities in front of them and they took every chance to develop a very successful and philanthropic lifestyle. Paul Allen made most of his wealth through the widely know company named Microsoft which is the leading manufacturer of Operating Systems around the world. He also owned the Portland Trail Blazer but was unsuccessful in bringing them to their previous stature as the Champions due to several injuries of starters. Currently Paul Allen owns over 300 million shares of Microsoft and the Seattle's Cinerama movie theater. According to Forbes magazine, Paul Allen is the 37th richest person in the world and has donated over $900 million in grants and funding for education in music. He has succeeded both in the financial market and the business world.

Paul Gardner Allen was born in Seattle, Washington on January 21, 1953. His parents, Kenneth S. Allen and Faye G. Allen paid for his attendance to Lakeside Private School. When he was 16, he met William Henry "Bill" Gates III who was 14 at the time and they became close acquaintances. The two boys used the school computers and were enlightened by programming. Bill Gates scored a 1590 out of 1600 and went to Harvard while Paul Allen attended Washington State University and dropped out after two years of education to pursue a career in programming. He began teaching computer courses in Lakeside High School to earn a living. He forced Bill Gates to drop out of Harvard and work with him at Honeywell in Boston. This later led to the creation of Microsoft which has made them into incredibly successful entrepreneurs.
They buy an Intel 8008 chip for $360 and build a computer, measuring the traffic loss/gain. Paul Allen becomes the associate director of software for MITS and co-founds a company initially called Micro-Soft in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 1975. They began marketing BASIC programming language which is a collection of popular high-level programming languages in the US until 2006. Apple and Radio Shack buy rights to use BASIC for their TRS-80. Some people even till this day use Visual Basic .NET for their programming needs. They signed a contract with IBM, a multinational computer and technology corporation, to deliver a DOS, Disk Operating System for Intel. Their wealth began to fluctuate after they bought a “Quick and Dirty Operating System” from Tim Patterson for $50,000. By altering the database in the QDOS, Paul Allen and Bill Gates were able to provide a DOS for IBM’s new PC lineup. With technology becoming more affordable and the economy getting better, more people set out to buy computers. Pre-installed was Microsoft’s Operating System which set up a monopoly throughout the world.
Paul Allen was forced to leave his position from Microsoft in 1983 due to him being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. He founded a software company named Asymetrix that developed programming tools for non-programming consumers. By 2004, Asymetrix became to be known as Sum Total System. Paul Allen seeks an opportunity to be a shareholder of one of the best NBA teams in the 1980s and buys off the Portland Trail Blazers in 1988. In 1992, Paul Allen founded Starwave which produced various sites for important events such as the ESPN and Disney. This company was later bought by Disney for $350 million. By 1998, Allen buys out Marcus Cable which was one of the top 10 leading broadcast cables at the time for $2.8 billion. As an entrepreneur he would look for the best deals and more ways to make a buck. One of his smartest choices was to buy off Seattle's Cinerama movie theater in the 1990s while it was falling and then rebuild it to become a marvelous place for entertainment that is still used today.
By 2003, Paul Allen had been aware of the education of the United States and thought it would be beneficial to invest into a company that was promoting a map of the brain. This would lead to further innovations in the science field. In September 2003, Allen founded the Allen Institute of Brain Science and invested $100 million for the Allen Brain Atlas project.
Future projects will more or less likely include improving the newly bought Qwest Field and strengthening the Seattle Sounders FC, a Major League Soccer franchise, who began playing in 2009 on Qwest Field. He will also continue providing funds for Music Organizations and Museums that feature music and science fiction. Right now Paul Allen owns two very unique luxury yachts. The Octopus and Tatoosh are the 8th and 26st largest motor yachts in the worlds, respectively. The Octopus yacht includes two helicopters, two submarines, a swimming pool, a music studio and a basketball court. Paul Allen spends a lot of time with his family and friends on the Octopus and frequently throws huge Celebrity-invited parties on the yacht such as seen during the 2005 New Year's Eve party where Paul Allen sang Johnny Cash songs with Usher.
