  • u tried to reinstall , or manuel patching ? maybe an install failor
  • i've reinstalled like 13 times and it does the same. i don't know how to manual patch.
  • u give not many details , so hits hard to figure out , whats up.
    what windows u have ?
did u try to turn FIrewall out?
    u checkt your graphicdrivers?
were u ever before able to run CF ?
  • sorry, i'm using windows XP. no i was never able to run CF before.
How do you check the graphicdrivers. no never tried to turn off firewall, i have the ports and game in exceptions list, did you watch the video?
  • the video does the same by me but after this the game starts.

i guess u know what graphiccard u use ? if Nvidia for example, go to mainpage ( google helps) and whats if there is a newer driver for zour graphiccard.

u never ever got a window from zour firewall, that he asked u to block or not block the game ?
maybe u try to turn it up for 1 .
  • I sat and waited for 10 minutes and nothing happened after that.

    I am using Nvidia.

What exactly is the main page? you mean the start button right?

He meant Nvidia homepage, to help you update your graphics driver.

    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

This is from the US portal of Nvidia, hopefully Option 2 will work fine for you.

    And my questions about this:
I saw that you ended the video while the mouse cursor had the hourglass symbol, meaning it was running things in the background.
Are you sure you waited 10 minutes?

Ok do this for me. Like as you read this.
    1. Check whether you tried starting CF throughout the day (use your memories).
    2. If you have, look past step 3 and move on to step four.
    3. Since you didn't start CF, please do so now. Make sure you are running it as an administrator. You can automate this by right clicking on the shortcut, going to properties, then compatibility tab. Towards the bottom of the window there will be an option to run it as an admin. Have the checkbox checked and click apply then ok. Now run it.
    4. If either running it as an admin did nothing, or if you already ran the program once today go to the next step.
    5. Press and hold CTRL+ALT+Delete, usually in that order. Now since you are in Windows XP, Task Manager pops up. Make sure you are having this window present.
    6. Click on Processes tab
    7. Scroll down until you find the program Crossfire.exe (it would be helpful to sort the list by name)
    8. If the program listed is there, End Process (if it isn't, then refer to Step 2 to get it running)
    9. There will be a notification that it could cause it to lose unsaved data and potentially result in an unstable system. Now because we are running a program that isn't tied that much into the system, unlike system32, you can safely rest assured you computer won't blow up on you. So again I tell you. End Process.
    10. Restart CF
    11. If all that still didn't result in a more successful start of the game, try all the steps again, but this time after you end the process, restart your computer.
    12. Post back here with results or problems.

What does it mean if Xtrap is doing this?

That is Xtrap doing its job, a continuous search throughout your computer to make sure there are no hacks while you are ingame. Let it be.
  • IT was working yes, but after a few minutes it went away and my screen went black. heard a humming then it stopped and went back to my normal desktop. i also have the newest Nvidia driver installed.

Nothing changed, and i looked all over the compatibility tab and there is no box stating that.

I followed each step like they were written, so i don't know what the problem is.

I wonder if it could have been a glitch during the download. the downloader did go solid white at about 96%

  • Ok I can see you double posted. Please inform a MOD to delete one of the two posts. Than you.

As to your continuing problem. Maybe you need to change your screen resolution prior to starting the game.

I'm sorry, but maybe you might need to send a support ticket. Please be specific with them about your problem and please choose the right headings (meaning don't submit a hacking report when you have a tech support problem)
  • ok thank you.

I will try and if it don't work i'll just delete the program and forget about it.

how do you send a support ticket, where is it i mean?
