not being able to SPEAK to people is.... try saying whisper me, or put on, or...whisper someone with noob in the name....

The word noob was used far more greatly as an insult than in people's names.
  • so what...lol do u take offence to being called a noob?, if u take such great offence learn the game, and make the kids RQ that decide to call u noob.

I personally don't care if people insult me in game, block chat sorts that. It's the fact it is technically still an insult and that they filter insults, simple as.
  • lol u said it urself...block chat...its their for everyone...
  • AS I have stated SEVERAL times on this forum, the censor only makes our lives increasingly difficult to hold a conversation and is a completly immature approach to solving insults.

For God's sake, people have revolutions over this ALONE!
  • Yes, just get rid off it! I rather see what they are typing rather than a bunch of ???.
  • The filter has a lot of flaws.
    You can't say
    With axe
    But its
    and a lot more.

The game is rated T .
Basically who hasn't heard these words?
And someone who plays a game where you knife people to death, shoot in the head, attack people with swords and axes can stand some words.

Teen rating can be anything from 12~18+.

A game/Movie rated as 18+ can contain strong language/violence, whereas one rated Teen can only contain Moderate violence and low amounts of "foul language"

Knifing (or killing) someone to death in this game looks extremely unrealistic that's why it's not 18+.

ESRB's Description of Teen games Content: TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

    ok but then again
"Hacker" or "noob" may not be described as "heavy language"
  • I do not think it should be removed but that z8games allow players to choose if they want or not the filter by the settings they use. It's a process used in many games by now.

    Best suggestion evar!
And remove it in CLAN chat
  • The filter can easily be by-passed, so it doesn't have a good use :/

And when PM'ing someone, you can't if they have, let's say "noob" in their name.

    +1

i just bump this because it's the only real way to accord to both parties. And the game will be able to keep their rating for T-een

Certainly not, but the way the get used by the community causes them to be rated as such.

Christ isn't a bad word either, but people in game would only use it to insult others' religion.

Its OK if people say, "He has a bad score because he is a noob (new to the game". But this community continuously uses it as a bad word. Hacker should stay blocked since 99% of the time the word is directed at players who do not use hacks at all.

Hacker can be bypassed in a million ways.
    Filter doesn't stop people

    My opinion is:
Fix and keep it in regular and team chat.
DON'T keep it in clan chat.
    makes the communication harder.

By fixing I mean things like that:

    Put a
    But its
    his hit
    With axe
    and lots more
  • I've posted about this elsewhere but alot of people seem to be forgetting/missing something regarding the age rating for crossfire.

If you check the bottom of the crossfire game page it shows it is rated T for teen which is actually for the violence content.

Underneath this is 'Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB'

The teen rating is only for the actual gameplay and has nothing to do with text chat (the online interactions part), so the filter is not required as the chat is not even rated for any age group.

Nevermind the fact you cant even use noob, hacker or whisper to someone whose name is christian!

Well regardless to the reason i still think that no matter what people should has the right to pick in their setting if they want or not the filter. It's used in every mmog* that has a filter.

    *Massive multiplayer online games.*

Oh I agree, an option would be nice, but then who would bother turning the filter on? The filter can be bypassed by typing with dots and numbers etc, but it just causes in game chat to become frustrating.

What would the option be called?

Turn on the incredibly annoying and pointless chat mess up feature - Y/N?

    Hmm, tough choice.

    I agree.

Since I started playing I noticed that I couldn't use some char's like 'ç' or accent marks.

This su.cks, because I'm Portuguese and many of the words get cut, like for example when I say "boas ****es" that means good afternoon..it gets cut! (EVEN IN THE FORUM IT GETS cut...)

I can't use any word with accent marks, and there are a lot of words with those....this causes a lot of bad-spelling of some words. Kids will write them wrongly and you guys are responsible z8!

Get the keyboard working pls...I need the '`','´','~',and the'^' to be able to talk with people.

LOL noob is now not alowed this probably happened due to the SL RED DRAGON, because people spend fortunes on it, and z8 knows players will call them UBER NOOBS, so they blocked the word LOL.

Not going to work z8, their noobness is to great for a simple word block to disguise it.

    D.O W.E. H.A.V.E. T.O W.R.I.TE E.V.ER.YT.H.IN.G. W.I.T.H. E.N.D. P.O.I.N.T.S.?
Thats why u have to speak English.

    And yea,remove filter pl0x.
  • in other games they call it 'mature chat filter" or "mature content filter" or w/e

    or even simply 'chat filter'
  • ya this game used to say HOLY SHT when u got a multi kill. now you cant even say noob. Do they think the only ppl that play CF are 9 year olds? 99% of this game dosnt care if some1 is in the room swearing there ass off

I agree also..Im european, and when i speak to my clan members or speak on my own language i cannot say 30% of words, even if they with space.

That tells us a lot about Europeans.

Anyway, someone elsewhere on the forums (Barracks I believe) had an interesting idea. "[Instead of having words filtered before they enter the server, they can be filtered on the receiving end so there can be an option to turn them off.]" -Credit to whoever posted this!

This would be excellent. People willing to endure insults or block people just to see their regular chat and not have foreign languages filtered should be happy. Protective parents or those who can't take a single insult can keep the filter on.

Only problem is this will likely be difficult to implement, I don't have an familiarity with server coding and all that stuff. Despite this, I believe it would be a worthwhile update. :)
  • 4 things should be in this suggestion

1 Option of to turn off the filtering
2 Choosing the words you want to input as 'bad words'
3 Release the block chat limits to unlimited
4 Make the filter not affect the player names when you try to whisper your friend (i can't talk to people with name like 'noobsmiley' )
  • The filter has a lot of flaws.

Kudos to you my good sir or madam. :)

    @TheRealCoon
These ideas should be edited into the degenerate OP's post.

Since I don't know people with such nicknames it does not really bother me but they should offer free nickchanges or something similar for them.

runescape even has that. You can turn it off and on)
